Sorry I didn't think that was a book spoiler since it was about the actors contract and it was featured prominently in a New York Times article. I'll spoiler it, and you guys can edit yours to spoil it out. Apologies to you guys.

Edit: Also, as an aside, you guys make it really difficult to not amplify the spoilage by quoting the offending post. Always been a pet peeve of mine when people did that, made moderating such slip ups so messy >_<

Is it really? Not sure why they'd do that. As for you, that's an easy thing to not think about given the context of the discussion. Understandable slip up but thanks for quickly hiding it. Now if we can just get JB to fix his...

E2..

I swear I had to remind myself I wasn't watching a porn flick through some parts of the ep, especially when LF wipes the cum off her mouth, and the whole Theon fucking scene. Damn, she had pointy tits and a weird face. Also there was no 'art' in that scene at all like the fingering scene last season that was so 'controversial', just straight up fucking.

awesome really hope it gets bigger. Meh.. I wish I would have waited a few years to get in this series. I'm a little scared for it now. I really hope it makes it too S7.
I think True Blood is both HBO's highest rated show that is currently airing, and also the most watched HBO show since the Sopranos. True Blood has ratings somewhere around 5 million (i think)

The first season of Game of Thrones had higher ratings compared to True Bloods first season. Now the season 2 premiere ratings are also higher, 3.7million compared to 3.9million. I hope that ratings trend continues for the rest of the season.

i think the show's hype and ratings will keep building, because there are bound to be many future episodes with huge water cooler talk potential. I mean huge. So, I think the buzz will continue

Yeah, this. It's getting unnecessary and ridiculous now. Hope they'll tone it down, but I doubt it.

The violence is unnecessary and ridiculous too. Do you hope they tone that down as well?

It's HBO... sex and violence is part of the package.

I have no qualms about the sex or the violence in the series. It's a reality of the world they live in. The subjective view of a lack of art, or the presence of it, is all in the eye of the beholder.

If anything, violence is toned down compared to the books. On the other hand they're adding a lot of sex scenes which are completely unnecessary and most of the time looking nothing more than silly and out of place.

I'd say most of them make sense, but some scenes certainly do seem pointless at times.

But as already mentioned, the scene in episode 2 with Theon on the boat was totally unnecessary, and then again when he's riding on the horse to the castle and he starts to get onto his sister. Even if that wasn't his sister, why is he a crazed sexual lunatic?

I've not read the books, but it's really killing the character for me.

E2 was
not as good at the first episode but the captains daughter could get it no problem.

Also, cum drool was fucking disgusting.

I think as long as word of mouth stays strong, this show will continue to flourish. So do your part! I keep finding more people that haven't seen it yet and I try to get them to check it out. I've had a pretty good amount of success here and keep getting responses that so and so has checked it out and loves the show. The numbers will grow!

Spoiler tags, in THIS thread. HBO pisses on those of us that want to watch week to week with no spoilers.

Absolutely pisses on us. Lol, we had the perfect ruleset for this thread, and now it will be chuck full of spoiler tags for a week.

The vast majority of the sex scenes in S01 were justified and actually help the viewer understand what some characters are going through, or are just plain necessary like Jaime/Cersei. The only one feeling a bit out there was in Littlefinger's brothel when he goes on his little rant. But now it's just like "hey guys, I'm sure all that sex stuff helped with ratings, let's just randomly put more lolz".

Prudes aren't going to like Episode 2. Also, I wish I had waited a while to watch. Now I've got two weeks...

I wouldn't be surprised, but I hope that's not the case.

The spoilers we're on about now are very minor indeed, I wouldn't be discussing them otherwise for fear of people revealing them by accident.

If the episode has not aired on HBO yet it shouldn't be discussed at all IMO

It technically has in Poland and the Netherlands, plus Corn said it was fine as long as we spoiler tagged. I'll stop posting about episode two now anyway.

I haven't read any of the books but it is my understanding that the sex is mostly also present in the books.

On second thought, we should not discuss the books at all.

Thought it was HBO Go?

The only one feeling a bit out there was in Littlefinger's brothel when he goes on his little rant.

I thought that was a good scene. It demonstrated LF's dedication to his business, and how seriously he takes it. It also shows him as a man of great self control as he is able to command his workers and not indulge himself, whereas most other men in this universe give themselves up to pleasures of the flesh very easily.

Plus, the fierceness of his angry, yet controlled speech contrasted with the sexual activity made for a great mix of emotion in that scene. Loveless passion of a brothel paid with gold vs. true love spurned and stolen paid with blood.

I'll just say, without referencing too much, that... <Ep 2>
both those things with Theon are in the book. The whore house part... not so much.

I don't know. The whole

I've loved that woman since I was a boy. But she was promised to another man. I even challenged him -LOL FHUTA NOW- to a duel. But I lost and she saved my life. Sigh, I'm still so much in love"

thing was completely ridiculous.

I don't think the scene was supposed to be LF waxing nostalgic. I think it was supposed to show how he used to be that innocent little nobody, but that experience is what drove him to be the cold, calculating, ambitious, power-hungry asshole he is now.

The way the actor delivered those lines - didn't seem like love...just bitterness and regret.

Shrug, I don't think the sex scenes are really that inappropriate. They're in a fucked up medieval-esque era. That stuff seems pretty natural to the setting.

Yeah it is natural and the books have a lot of sex too. It seems to be more of an issue on GAF than other sites I've visited. Not sure why... maybe we just have a lot of prudes and internet virgins on this site, who knows? Some people take offense to Ros too since she is a TV show addition and that means less book material covered I guess.

I'm not sure they are inappropriate as much as they are unnecessary and distracting from the story. We don't need to know how hookers can be better at faking orgasms.

In contrast, the most graphic sex scene I've ever seen on an HBO show (Which is saying something) is when Van Alden & Lucy are going at it in boardwalk Empire. Very graphic, very lengthy, very uncomfortable to watch, but also very pertinent to the Van Alden's story.

Nudity in a brothel and sex scenes, I totally get, but 5 minute long sex scene conversations about love lost does nothing but attract to the sex scene itself.

We haven't seen it since the very beginning I don't think. I wonder if Arya's wolf will return at some point?
Not sure what you mean by the beginning but, Rob's Direwolf was all over the place toward the end of last season. It was apparently a one dog army.

Wait isn't that the scene where the whore says something like "She must be very beautiful" and Littlefinger replies "Not really. Impeccable bloodlines, though"? Yeah, sounds like true love all right.
