Street Fighter V |OTVIIII| New Generation - Fighting Game Is Something So Great

Just ordered this badboy, should arrive by the 16th. Can't wait.

BenQ 27"

I was rocking my 24" Asus for a while and wanted to upgrade a bit.

I actually just got this monitor and dropped it into my Extension cabinet. While I wish they made a 32" to better fit my cab, the 27" is big enough.

Out of the box, I set it to "Fighting" game mode and everything from the color to the response time is great. Well worth the money.

He was right though - the toxicity and incessant hating is simply leading to nowhere and just making them look worse. Also, opinions. How do they work?

I think, like James said, it's best to ignore Kappa all together as nobody takes it seriously. Especially not after he, a notable figure in the FGC, literally dropped a nuclear bomb on them. I get they want SFV to do better and so does Chen but the constant empty rhetoric on there is awful.

He said it best:

Can't ignore Kappa. Shit is too far ingrained in the internet FGC and the community offline in some parts to just turn away. Best one can hope for is guiding them to talk about and support games they like and ignoring the shitposts as much as possible. But the internet would have to chip in on that, and SFV needs to stop feeding them easy lick, and well...

It's really easy to sort out for me. If they had any sort of dialogue it's as you said it, the posts that do have some form of logic or logically expressed emotions? Those are the top posts that get upvoted. Everything else? Repeats of those things or shitposting..

All they would have to do were to say something to those.

.

But like, the top posts usually are shitposts though. And if they don't address the top posts, then people get pissy that they aren't talking to those and are "avoiding" questions. Like, you and I would know Capcom doesn't want to engage the vitrol, but for some Kappa users, that's an extra excuse as to why Capcom and SFV suck. It'll be clipped/print screen'd/whatever, made into another post on Kappa, and people will shitpost there. None of that is worth the effort.

But this is beside the point. Capcom shouldn't have to go there to address points that are commonly expressed in places like r/sf, or here or in locals, as well. They are fully capable of getting that feedback bc it's everywhere and they have twitter accounts and websites to make their own statements.

The reason they don't? They're incapable of stating anything bc they haven't been able to address those problems satisfactorily or they don't care or want to.

That's true. They, just as Kappa does, need a PR and communication boost. Like soon.

Also really whenever he's opened his mouth outside of general announcements john d has brought no good or and a lot of bad or. He doesn't need firing, but he needs to stop talking or try a different tack.

Most of his statements barring the DP fiasco have been pretty innocuous to me. That, and the "whats ur agenda", but that needs better phrasing, as you said. Or maybe it's because I work with many other companies and their snafus are leagues worse than Capcom or most game companies could ever do. Either way, they need a straight PR person yesterday and not run their shit through their employees as their mouthpiece.

lol seriously john d should just stay behind the scenes this dude just makes it easier to clown this game

Yeah, he's not doing anyone favors. Like, if SFV didn't get the heat, none of his Tweets would matter. But since they are, this dude is a meme factory and an easy target for people.

Not sure. I think the key is to say if multiple people contradict your narrative that they're projecting though.

I agree with some of this though. Kappa is just fgcs venting channel. It's not a totality. I'm sure if he spoke with other people in the community he'd find the same opinions. They just don't post it on r/sf bc they can't or on their timelines bc they do t want to clutter it.

They put it on r/kappa, which collects these things. Like, 80% of r/sf s user base was found to be r/kappas base. These are NOT outsiders coming out of nowhere

The few times I've played Ken, it's like something happens to my brain. I start randomly air tatsuing, EX DPing on my wakeup, on THEIR wakeup, during resets, I randomly do heavy tatsu.

That character is cursed.
I 100% believe this. Seriously.

John D is the small trace of Harada that Capcom has. Actually calling out people, unlike Ono who is super nice to everyone...and as a result people step on him even more.

People clown Capcom regardless of what they say, do, don't say, or don't do.
John D can clap back if he wants to. They're human beings, too. Working hard.

I'm mostly in the same boat and I think it's better that way

Reddit communities (at least for specific gaming ones) tend to follow a very predictable pattern of "the smaller it is, the more friendly and generally better it is".

You go into a place like r/dota2 and the place is a shitfest even though I remember specifically that it used to be a very fun place to hang out like 4 years ago when it was notably smaller.

r/SF and r/Tekken in particular are pretty good communities where there's good jokes, memes and a lot of good discussions to be had. Those guys are also VERY helpful in providing tips and info.

r/Kappa is the polar opposite where there's shitposting, hatred towards SFV and porn aplenty. But good discussion or humour is rarely found. And it's no surprise that r/Kappa is also a very active subreddit.

What is chris t doing in japan
Same thing he does everywhere else, lose.

Then I guess my point kinda failed there.

Also I don't think that's true.

r/SF : 50,630 subscribers (690 browsing)

r/Kappa: 42,205 subscribers (1,820 browsing)

Yeah, Kappa is basically full of people who play non-SF fighters, like thicc Asians, and/or hate SFV.

r/SF is full of people who hate SFV.

John D has not an ounce of the credibility that harada has when making these "clapbacks".

He is the Story Mode necalli of Capcom. Shows up, makes noise, has no purpose in the general scheme of things, and is dismissed almost immediately

Cool that gfinity is doing stuff though

There are narratives all over the place, the biggest (and most damaging and irrelevant) being what Chen has mentioned on Kappa. I agree with what the Spoiler has said though, that place would be hard to ignore so it's best to guide the conversation in the right direction and something that gives more constructive feedback.

FTFY.

The porn subreddits on reddit are really nice, very helpful people there.

HARAM.

I lurk daily on Kappa. Sometimes post. I bought a t-shirt that helped bring players to Evo this year. I think that people are overestimating the influence this subreddit has though.

Also I don't hate SFV but I do feel disappointed in the amount of spectacle this game brings compared to Usf4 as a viewer.

Finally starting to incorporate st. LK buffers into my matches and man it feels so good to land them. Like for a moment I feel like a platinum when I'm really only Ultra Gold. I'm not finding it too useful against everybody, but I think it'll be very helpful against characters like Karin, Cammy, and Alex who have great long range medium pokes and love counter poking with them after blocking my st. MK.

Yeah, I agree with Chen about all the negativity but kappa doesn't have that much influence. Unless they're secretly the source of everyone trashing the game on the internet on every forum I've seen.

The SF thread about the Chen post is silly, though. All the top comments are shitting on SFV and so many people there are claiming that Kappa is the only place where you can hear the truth about SFV. Their viewpoint is the majority's viewpoint and they're acting like underdogs. Motherfucker, you can't be Rocky Balboa AND Apollo Creed at the same time.

Do you still play ryu?

This is so goddamn satisfying. Chris T is delusional about his Ken play to the point where he constantly claims to share Momochi's playstyle, so it's nice to see him get smoked by the man himself.

He's seriously one of the more irritating players to listen to talk. All of S1 was him talking about how all characters were better than Ken but he was too much of a loyalist to switch. He'd go on and cast during WNF and all of his casts would be pointing out things characters had that was so much better than Ken. It was so annoying to listen to.

It's funny how I had so many "mains" leading up to Abigail but he is definitely it. Unless Hugo drops. Well, maybe Sodom too. But really, Abigail is my main. For now.

What's happening in his mind here? Is he trying to keep from strangling Mo, or is his brain legit broken?

"I'm the greatest player but my character is so bad. I don't get how I'm supposed to show my greatness with the worst character in the game but I can't switch."

sometimes you gotta ex DP on their wakeup to prove a point
Yeah, I definitely gotta YOLO more. I'm watching #1 ranked Ken and outside of admiring his one-hit confirms into good damage, I'm like "this guy is kinda crazy!" Def gotta play more outside the box.

lol...Heavy Tatsu is actually pretty good in Trigger. It's -2 on block, (used to be plus)

I've really calmed down with DP on wakeup though, without invincible frames, I don't feel like the risk is worth taking. If someone is gonna miss time something, might as well throw out a low jab instead of trying to DP.

Ken's fun when you play random though, I really just want my old c.mp back '-) His pressure consistent of mostly jabs now and one hit confirming.

Cross post from gaming.

https://capcomprotour.com/street-fighter-v-evo-2017-finals-viewership-ever-fgc-event/

Nearly 5 million viewers tuned in to watch an all-time great Street Fighter V final at Evolution Championship Series 2017. The finals aired on ESPN2 for the second year in a row and Disney XD for the first time, garnering an estimated total viewership of 3.1 million. Twitch’s total unique viewership of 1.65 million brings the overall number to 4.75 million, the largest ever for an FGC event.

Nine different characters were used in top 8 -- Dhalsim, Chun-Li, Guile, Rashid, Zangief, Cammy, Karin, Nash, and Akuma. The players got to show off some ingenious technology with their respective characters in the highly entertaining finals. Some of the highlights of the finals were ECHO FOX|Tokido versus SPLYCE|Filipino Champ and DTN|Itabashi Zangief and Moke in nail-biting sets as they played for their tournament lives in the losers bracket.

Last year, Street Fighter V Evo 2016 finals averaged an estimated 201,000 viewers, with a total of 1.95 million unique viewers on the ESPN2 live broadcast. On average, a minimum of 271,000 people watched the Evo 2017 finals on ESPN2 and Disney XD. That estimate combined with the 216,000 max concurrent viewers on Twitch brings the total max concurrent viewership to well over 500,000 viewers. This is even more impressive considering that the Evo Street Fighter V tournament was broadcasted during the same time slot as the Season 7 premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

More people watched Street Fighter V at Evo 2017 than any other event but in case you missed out on the action, you can watch the re-airing of the Street Fighter V Top 8 Finals this Sunday, 8/6/17 at 6pm PST on Disney XD.

Wait a fuck, I didn't even realize this!

That actually does makes that number more impressive.
