Asian-GAF: We're all the same, like Stormtroopers |OT| |AT|

Haha, I know what you mean. A lot of my friends have some pretty O_O views on women / race / etc... but I like them because they're my friends, so I just try my best to avoid those topics.

For example, I have a friend who literally ranks guys by height. To me, that's just as "ehhh" as a guy that ranks women he dates by their bust sizes... but what can you do, right? Can't go around policing the whole world ._.

As a short (5'7" is short right, I've been called short before...) man I am outraged and I hope you introduce your friend to #notallmen.

I cut my friend some slack because we're from different places and just interacted/interact with different people. And he's not malicious about it. He's hardcore Libertarian, which isn't too bad as I just roll my eyes when he claims that the government has never done anything good before. But I will call him out when he stereotypes women.

He's not a hardcore misogynist or anything, but he'll just say things like no woman can think this way or all women are this, etc. I always argue with him on these points. it's funny how he still can't wrap his mind around the possibility that not all women fit into a stereotypical category, when he knows that Asians don't enough to make jokes about the stereotypes. And yes, I know that he knows they're not true. That's why the jokes are funny.

I'm decidedly not Asian and I don't know what the fuck is doing on in here but I did want to say hello to all my Asian brothers! Much love.

Carry on ladies and gentlemen.

I think joking between friends is ok if both are ok with it.

I just don't like the kind of people who are like "it's fine, my friend is Asian (or whatever race)". Noope.

Hello!

Watched a bunch of car club videos from Japan... now I want a ridiculous lamborghini and about 5 thousand dollars in strobe lights and gaudy metallic paint on it, while I continue my bout of vast over compensation with a terrible dye job and what is most likely a high school girl I paid to be there while I drive around, and would do anything for it.

I don't even like lambo's...

Point is, open a ramen shop cause it seems like thats what all the guys in the video did. Unless thats code for porn company owner.

I wasn't into Lambos...... until I got into Forza...... which is weird in itself cuz I didn't ever think I would ever buy a car game title ever. Cuz I never quite understood car games' appeal... like whaaaaaaaat, you go around and around and race, and that's it?????

... i be eating crows

I have been living, breathing, thinking, gaming Forza since I got it.

ALSO LAMBORGHINI HURACAN *__________* I luv eeettttt~

sorry for tangent. and now back to our regular asian programming~

Don't worry, 5'7 '' is just below the average of 5'8''

Besides I've heard tell that while some ladies like taller men, others find it somewhat awkward and therefore prefer not having to reach for a kiss. Of course be sure to take any rumor with a grain of salt...

I thought the average height in the US for males was 5'10. And yes, most females prefer their guys to be taller than them. Sometimes, most of the times.

After some brief googling, it's in the middle at 5'9 for men, and 5'5 for women

Eh, I remember reading somewhere in some study that whilst women do like tall guys, .... it was way more important that the guy just be taller. You don't have to be 5'11, 6'0 or anything - just taller. Some girls who party hard I'm sure will be one of those who get all the best specimens, but generally I wouldn't worry brothers if you are short ... you just have to be taller than whatever the female average is in said country, 5'4, 5'5 being average-ish in the west.

Confidence is more key. I had a friend who was going out with a girl a foot taller than him and I'm not even exaggerating. He's not even close to being a studly looking guy either.

Heck, I'm 5'11" and I attract no gurls. B-[

I'm going to admit that I need my man to be taller than me. I'm 5'6". Also, I need a dominant sadist. Lol.

Other than that, don't care if he's ugly, pretty, fat, skinny, how much money he makes, etc. Though I would never date someone that didn't support himself...

If a guy tanks, that's like +1000 points. If he's nerdy/geeky, another +500. Lol.

post a personal ad on the gaming side ;P jk jk

Well, if you don't mind, I read your blog! You are a really good writer! :)

But I thought you liked men who had their way with words? I would say intelligence is a very important trait for a lot of girls. Henceforth I think a lot of girls will care for a guy that's intellectually versed. I think it's a trait that trumps other traits, such as height. Of course some girls, not all girls. What do you think?

Yes! Welcome! :)

What's your other half?

I'm 1/2 Chinese, 1/4 Scottish 1/4 Irish.

Dad's side is the Chinese side, they "moved" to Hawaii in the 1800s to "work" on the plantations. Mom's side is typical white Californian.

Born and raised in Hawaii, living in Seattle now.

I'm 6"0 so people always had to make a comment about how I was so tall lol

My brother is also the same height, so I attribute this to genetics.

Anyway I'm currently visiting San Antonio and I miss Asian food already lol

That must have been quite the change! Living in a tropical paradise to living in a very rainy and (somewhat) cold state. Do you miss the Hawaiian climate?

Sometimes, but whatever. I'm used to it. Summers are gorgeous here.

It actually reminds me of the weather I experienced when I visited Japan.

I like rice and I'm 5'9".

Fellow Hapa - high-five!

There's actually quite a large population of Hawaii transplants in the Northwest. It's like the 9th island.

Maaan, who doesn't like rice?

The other day I made fried rice with spam in it. It was pretty good as-is, but what really sent it over the top was this habanero-pineapple sauce I got from Costco. Oh my God.

I am 5'4". Shopping around for clothes that fit me is kind of annoying.

You can make your own!

Just get brown sugar, soy sauce, a little oil, and spam.

Marinade the spam slices in sugar and soy sauce, then fry them in a pan with the oil on both sides. Put that on top of rice, wrap it in seaweed, and BAM there you go.

At least, that's how I make my ghetto spam musubi :D.
:O

I'm ashamed I never tried this myself.

How hot does AsiaGAF like their food? That Qdoba spice thread got me laughing

I can't handle much spice, I'll fully admit. Rather enjoy my food than get extra cool points for eating super spicy stuff. Just a little bit is good.

Typically get 2/5 stars, but that can differ depending on what you're eating, the restaurant, etc.

I don't really like spicy food. I'm ok with just a little bit. My body starts to feel like it's dying if I eat something too spicy. lol

You don't need to make sushi rice?
