That's actually a good indication of a politician nowadays.
I can recommend vistiting the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism, and after that "re-evaluate" your thoughts about needing a "national identy", especially when in politically and economically disturbing times. But, since your 6 years of study make you the expert, I'm really curious how the "european identy" makes anyone less German, or less Dutch. It's not like they're going to ban Oktoberfest and eating Schweinshaxe

Her vision of Europe is the vision of huge surpluses for Germany and "fuck Europe" deficits for the rest while avoiding like a plague an economic union that only makes sense if you want a free market throughout Europe. In fact that should have happened from the beginning. Currently her strategy is want the pie and eat it too while she and that piece of shit Schauble are drowning many European countries in unemployment, poverty and privatizations.

Sadly there are no real alternatives. She did damage germany in many ways, but SPD, Die Grünen and Die Linke are even worse.
So i guess I'll ask the obvious question here :

The post you quoted basically answers that: They're not considered art by most German politicians. And generally speaking, many politicians tend to either not know a whole lot about video games or view them negatively/dismissively.

I swear to God I read that in the negotiations about Greece IMF is playing the role of the leftist, as in begging for debt forgiveness because they know the country is doomed otherwise, the rest of Europe agrees but because king Schauble is throwing hissy fits the rest of Europe obeys. If anyone knows the dark history of IMF they can imagine how horrible Merkel's plan must be.

The laws for/against nazi symbolism are up to date and there is no difference between games, movies and books. Some people here claim bullshit they picked up somewhere without actually knowing what is the real isse. That is why you read so many responses claiming games are not considered art while others say this is nonsense from 15 years ago.
The real issue is not the law but a court ruling from 1998 that MIGHT have created legal precedent and no publisher wants to challenge it. Every law expert, even the guys from the federal department that bans media (BPjM), agree that Bethesda and the others could easily fight their way through court, but they (understandably) don't want legal costs, lost sales due to a temporary ban and the reputation to be known as the "swastika publisher".
Sadly publishers like Bethesda spin it as if there are laws they need to follow and pressure german gaming journos to not mention Nazis when writing about Wolfenstein and asks them to not say that it is cut, because in their eyes censored symbols are not cuts.
Generally the most successful game industries in Europe have at least one of the following:
1.) Tax credits or equivalent (see The UK or Poland)
2.) A very strong education pipeline for the games industry (see Sweden)
It's not only about getting voters.
She has been giving speeches and opened alot of different technological based events, and will surely continue to do so.
The industry is also one that needs a bit of help and initiative from politics, therefore it's not a bad idea.

Maybe this will help present video games as a legitimate form of entertainment which is a good step in the right direction (especially since it's always old people from HER PARTY starting the "Killerspieldebatte" here in Germany). This essentially puts gamescom on a level with CeBIT and other important shows in the eyes of the mainstream public.

Then I went to Austria. Oh boy. That's on a whole different level. A student at university once insisted to use my "title" in all e-mails he wrote. He's serious and his statement is correct. I am by no means an expert on the topic but what he said does match a lot of what I have read and heard. If you are interested in the topic I highly looking up economists Mark Blyth and Michael Hudson. They've written and spoke extensively on the subject.
