So I guess the coin-op place is winning. :p

How does everyone feel about late July? Maybe early August?

Oh shit.

That was used to get most of the older folks out of my apartment building.

Then again our various property managers have used every single trick in the book on us. My rent is already going up far beyond rent controlled limits because of capital improvement costs and some bullshit maintenance hardship. I'm sure it'll be something new in a few months too.

Went to food trunks for lunch near 5th Street, was walking back to work and saw a guy shooting heroin on the sidewalk. Never seen that in person.

Coin-op is decent but can get incredibly crowded (partially because its one of the better bars in that area of soma I guess)

Oh I was thinking like 1-3 weeks from now, would people be opposed to next weekend? (July 8-9)

Yeah hence why I suggest an afternoon to accommodate. If we plan far enough ahead I bet we could reserve I guess too.

I've been seeing it more and more. One of my friends is saying that with gentrification of places like the mission, it's even pushing the homeless out of the area and onto market street, so you see that stuff more

I came out of Civic Center station at night a couple months ago to go up the stairs and there were around 15 people all shooting up there. It was an uncomfortable climb.

This is the most disappointing thing about this city. Thinking about it, I hate having roots here because of it, but oh well, right? I just wish the government gave more of a shift than they pretend to.

It's been like this for at least 10 years. I've shared beers, spiderman songs, and benches with the likes. The loin being the hotspot for the halfway houses for such a long time (legislation and costs makes it hard to move/disperse), is what brings it all around. Most that I talk with say cops don't arrest because it costs too much to process and jail and they'd be back in the same spot in a minute (actually its the jail workers that tell me the reason is costs). Knew one guy that got caught mid shoot and got off telling the cops a Bush Jr joke. Funds are also spread thin and doesn't seem to be enough case worker coverage or health funds for shelters or jails. Talk to quite a few of them that lost contact with their case workers by choice or because their caseworker had to move because of living costs. More recent one I talked to his worker moved to Vallejo and he gave up using the system after that. Heroin isn't a drug you can beat without an army of support, and people aren't putting up enough funds to treat something like that. Always left as a "It was their life decision, they have to dig themselves out" when people see the costs.

Heroin business is one hell of a blight on mankind.

Just throwing this out there, but would any of you guys be up for meeting up and hanging out during MagWest and/or Twitch Con? It's looking more and more like I'll be going alone (assuming I go at all, since that's not finalized yet either), so it'd be nice to have some people to hang with at the cons.

Magwest sounds fun. I'm down to attend I just don't know if I'll be available then. California Extreme is at the end of this month as well.

So next week I'm gonna take a chance and check out Nobu in Palo Alto. Has anyone ever gone to one of their restaurants? I got reservations for my birthday and I don't know if I need to dress up for such a fancy ass fancy place. Any recommendations from there would be nice as well.

I'm aware my wallet is gonna get raped by overpriced food.

Also the 16th would be fine for me too.

I'll have to report back then after I go.

I don't know if it's a big deal for us to be getting one of these, but it is nice to finally be able to try it after wanting to for so many years. The two michelin star sushi spots in SF are impossible to get reservations for. I desperately wish I knew people in the food industry that could get me in there.

I think creating a separate thread would probably kills this one, but I don't see why not.

Also, we haven't even picked a day either the 15th or 16th. (I think 15th might be more worth it, but not sure.)

There are a lot more folks in our area than one might think. They just don't make it to the OT much or at least not the community side of things.
