Tap or slide anywhere on the screen, problem solved. Same as you do on 3DS, and you don't need a second screen for that.

Yes, I know. I was referring to have everything clearer. You know, when the moves are coming fast, you don't want to cover part of the screen with your hand or fingers.

Yeah. They could even make a dedicated area for tapping/sliding that doesn't cover up the actual gameplay if they really wanted to, right?

They can do it exactly as they did with iOS game released a while ago - Theatrhythm with classical music. Worked flawlessly.

Any current high end android phone/tablet would devour Dream Drop. Hell, you could move back a phone gen to the note one/S2/RAZR and still devour Dream Drop.

Yeah, but gameplay wise they can't port DDD that easily. Unless they change the way Reality Shift works at least. Well, not like it's a big part of the gameplay, but it's pretty useful against powerful enemies. But virtual buttons gameplay in a Kingdom Hearts, with that terrible camera ? Not sure if want.
I liked DDD a lot, but I can't deny that the camera is awful and the game (and most previous KH games) would be nicer with a better camera system.

Thanks. Yep, then its definitely safe to say that the game is getting ported to phones.

Don't think it was terribly hard for anyone to figure out it was getting ported to phones, the game seems more like it was intended for phones in the first place. Still, it's an enjoyable game, so I suggest anyone who missed out on it for 3DS to get it this time if it holds some interest to them.

There is a slight difference in that the track bar is a lot bigger in Theatrhythm than it is in Symphonica. It has four tracks instead of just one so there will be a lot less space for your fingers to tap without obscuring the view, which may make it harder during the faster songs. Granted they'll probably shuffle the screen around so it works better but it is worth noting.

It's a good game but I don't know if I would want to play it on a phone. I hope they continue to support the 3DS version. Most of the DLC has been good so far. It's funny reading the Wada post about profits when I think they could be pushing profit on this game so much more. I don't understand why they have yet to do new character DLC i mean not only would it be more profit but people would pay for say a pack that has Noctis and 2 unreleased tracks from FF Versus. Plus it would be a good way to promote abit. Also wish they would include FFXIV music.

Hopefully though if they decide to make a whole new game and "Square" themed game would be more than welcome featuring music from all their franchises.Get some Chrono, Valkyrie profile, Dragon Quest in there.

But in Theatrhythm you still tap to only one note from one track at a time. It is not like DJ Max where you had to press 2-3 buttons simultaneously.

Before someone panics, goomba didn't get banned for the above.

Is that Gree hexagon symbol at the bottom of the page new? I guess this might be a social game after all... :/
That's something they often keep on their pages since it's also a social hub.

Well so much for them not overcrowding FFIV's release next week, 'coming soon' indeed. Now their website is out of date, as it's out for iOS. Universal app, free to download as expected, with 13 (4-song) track bundles available for £1.99 each and characters for £1.49 each, according to this. Wonder if that makes it more or less expensive than the 3DS version w/ the DLC added on to it.

Youtube video here showing some gameplay.

They cut out the EMS stages entirely? I'm tempted to call that an improvement.

Here's the description:

Now everyone can play back their memories of FINAL FANTASY in an endlessly expansive app: THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY!

THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY, the first music game in the FINAL FANTASY series, has been augmented with more songs and new playable characters to make it easier to dive into and play than ever before! Now it makes its debut as an iOS app that allows for communication with users from around the world in an unlimited adventure!

■With Quest Medleys, every time that you play, it’s a new adventure! New enjoyment to be found in each game!
The iOS version of THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY adds the Quest Medley mode, where you can play through songs you’ve purchased in a rhythmical gauntlet! Each quest is a set made up of a single FMS and a single BMS, and each time that you play, you will find yourself facing different songs, different levels of difficulties, and different rewards for completion—enjoy the thrill of a music game where the sense of adventure never fades! Being able to play on your iOS device by touching anywhere on the screen gives you more freedom as a player, as you operate the game with ease.

Music Stages in the iOS Version
・FMS (Field Music Stage)
Slide across the screen in undulating waves that rise and fall in time to the slower-paced songs in these stages.
・BMS (Battle Music Stage)
Flick and tap to the furious beat to hit the Triggers flowing before each character in these fast-paced songs.

■Leveling up your character hinges on clearing tough songs! What else could you expect from a FINAL FANTASY music game?
Each time that you play through a song, your characters will gain experience. This app makes it easier than ever to enjoy developing your characters, as you simply level them up and the abilities gained by doing so are automatically equipped to your characters to be triggered during the music stages. In addition to the three regular scores of differing levels—the Basic, Expert, and Ultimate scores—you’ll gain a further three Illusive Scores for each song: arrangements of the regular scores with similarly varying levels of difficulty. Collect the shards of these Illusive Scores by clearing Quest Medleys and open up new adventures. Whether you are a novice or an experienced veteran, you’ll be able to find a way to play that fits your level!

■Use Twitter to tell the world about the scores you create yourself and share them with players everywhere!
Players themselves can create their own original scores by trying their hand at the Compose Scores mode! Upload your scores onto the server, or download the scores made by other players around the world—it is the players themselves who make the challenges of this game beyond limit. When you link the app up to your Twitter account, you can Tweet not only about the results of your play but also announce the uploading of your original scores to the server. And who knows—you might even find some scores made by the developers and the creators among the original scores uploaded each day!

Caution:
*When loading the application for the first time, please ensure that you have a stable wireless connection.
*This app may not function properly on the iPhone 4 and the backgrounds in the FMS and BMS will appear as simplified versions.

Maybe they switched it out for the Quest Medley mode? Doesn't sound too exciting, just strings together a random set of levels that you'd play anyway?

Quest Medley sounds... exactly like the Dark Notes from the 3DS version, haha. Granted, the description makes it sound like you can't save your preferred Quest Medleys like you could Dark Notes.
