I am surprised the farm on the centaurs in Dorric isn't actually greatly impacting T5/T6. It generates so much leather, I have had an engi set up there for various amounts of time through the day and I already have a lot leather and leather sources.

We'll switch to a new OT whenever the next expansion comes out so it will fix itself sooner or later.
If someone is making a new OT that is. It's not really an active community atm. :p

Is the GAF guild still active in this game? I played this when it came out, got to 80, then had no idea what to do after that xD Lost interest, but I got the xpac and started working on mastery.

Just need a decent guild to chat with and be able to ask questions as I go.

I mean, I'm playing a lot more than I used to (doing content from Bloodstone Fen now!) so I can be on to answer questions and invite. But the GAF Guild was it was has dwindled a lot since a lot of our regulars split off into their own thing (which is fine). Hawkian sometimes comes on and does missions on weekends but usually he's just in the ethereal real life.

Jira has moved on to another game after the split, and Retro hasn't been back because of disinterest in where the game is going.

I personally have a mix of sunken cost fallacy plus actual still love for the game; the 2nd expansion leak has me hype because the one part of Guardians I loved from the original release will be coming back fully fleshed out.

But if you have any questions you can ask here and in game, I'm Ashodin Venteal if you want to add me as a friend (Ashodin.7604 is my account name).

Anyone convince my to give this another go? I only have the base game, no expansions. Struggled on and off (only ever gave it max a few days at a time) over 2 years or so to try and get into this but failed each time. I think it's the lack of traditional questing / mounts that I struggle with. Kind of feel like playing an mmo and as I already own this makes sense to try it again. What can I do this time / keep in mind to have a better experience?

The game rewards playing as a wandering hero. Walk around, do hero stuff, get rewards.

Don't focus on filling progress bars or grinding loot/levels.

Going to be hard to recommend much if you don't care for the base questing, just a reminder though that some (many) of the dynamic quests tether together, a boring collection event might lead to an escort which might lead to a larger fight if you keep following it.

I personally think that most components of the story of the base game is pretty boring, from living story 2 - expansion - living story 3 its been a good bit better. But following the green star will lead as a sort of guide to visiting new places and stuff.

Don't know if you're interested in pouring money into the game, but I think the base game itself is a bit bland. While exploration might be a joy, I feel it's a bit directionless. From Living Story onward, the developers placed greater emphasis on rewards and goals through Map Meta, Achievements rewards, Skins/Minis reward, etc. Even between episodes this season, it's interesting to see the developers experimenting with ways to dangle that carrot. I might not be able to earn or craft everything, but there's always something for me to work toward.

Sorry to be stupid but is the living story and the good stuff exclusive to the expansion? If so will I see that from the get go or do you have to be a certain level / it's quite far along before you get to experience it all?

I think you should be level 80 to do the living story stuff, but anet added a free level 80 booster to the expansion so you could immediately play it.

If you want something to focus on, the achievements give you a good "guide" to rewards and unique things you can't get anywhere else (things that eat dust, new backpieces, etc).

I recently got back into the game because of lore/story beats getting me excited/interested again, and I have always really liked the underlying formula. I was originally/always a big WvW player so I obviously regularly drop out since my game-mode is largely stale/dead.

Right now Eureka is my goal/objective that keeps me going.

Did ANet ever explained why we have to pay for Living Story episodes if we missed them in a freaking PAID expansion?

Not a whole lot.

https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/lwd/Paying-for-past-content/first#post4093781

(edit, this statement was before the expansion)

You can convert in game gold to gems to pay for them. Also the living story season 3 episodes are free unlocks for months at a time. This sounds a bit like a shill defense but you'd have to be absent from the game for ~4 months to miss one, and the cost of something like few dollars to grab it if you missed it. It was a bigger issue during bi-weekly season 2 imo.

They have to monetize some things in the game in order to make a buck.
Like the revamped daily system it's a way to get you to log-in during LS episodes

You would have a point arguing about it when it was a 2 week period between episodes, but now with a 3 month window, if you don't manage to just log-in at least once to bank the episode for later, you're the only one to blame :p

Also, if it was still following the Season 1 formula, or if it was any other game, the content would be gone for good after it's expiration date ...

What's the details on the new expansion? Wondering if they will include the old one too?

I think that when HoT came out, there was a backlash against the pricing because you can't buy the expansion alone. At that time, I believe they said that all future expansions will include all prior ones too.

Yea.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/

In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.

So its worded in a way where they have wiggle room as to how specifically they want to tier it, but there will be an option to get them all.

I love medium armor fashion wars!

I love the details!
That earring (Magitech) is amazing, the faint pattern on the Ascalonian Sentry Chestguard, the stripes on the Scout's Leggings, the way the colors of Light of Dwayna and the Zodiac weapons match... oh, and this:

The blue part is from the Magitech Shoulderpads and the magenta part is from the Strider's Tunic. Too perfect!

I just wish I could coordinate well with medium armor

most of them annoy me due to cape butts :(

I've never been bothered by cape butts, but that may be because I have 30 characters that are not medium armor classes so I have lots and lots of other characters with non-cape butts. :p

After knocking out the crazy torrent of good games released this year, finally returned to this game to catch up on Living Story and clear the new zones. I knocked out all of episode 3 last night and cleared the zone. Holy crap is Braham an immature, hot tempered douche now. I know this is his way of mourning but the idiot is going to lead others to their death. Since it won't let me whoop his ass and knock sense into him, hopefully Jormag eats him ;p It's one thing to be a liability and another to drag others down with you and neither he nor Rox would be around anymore if the Commander wasn't there to bail their ass out with the scroll.

Anyway, happy to be away from him and shifting back to the Mantle and Caedecus. I was mighty surprised with the Queen in the first part of Episode 4, didn't know she was a bit of a bad ass haha I'm a little concerned that Lake Dorn or whatever the name is won't be as interesting as the other zones but I'll find out the next play session. I hear episode 5's zone is pretty cool so looking forward to that. I'm guessing I'll take care of Caeducus this episode and the last two will be about discovering how to take the fight to these two dragons so we can take them out in the expansion. I don't know why we'd go to
the Crystal Desert
for them though. I can see it tying in to
glint
but that seems like something you could knock out in a living story episode and wouldn't need a whole expansion to cover. I guess I'll have a much better idea once I catch up with the rest of the season. Still expecting Lazarus to betray me at some point to, of course haha

I reaaaally like this one! Great colors and combination of stuff.
I use the same chest piece for my sylvari ranger.

Very old pic before the last color change:

Old pic of current colors (well, not that visible but it's green and purple) and headgear shown:

Oh nice.:) Yeah feel like I am pretty impress with my thief, even through I barely play her nowadays.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/updates-to-world-vs-world-skirmishing-and-rewards/

There's you wvw backpiece

As much as I would like to collect all the legendary backpieces, I don't think I want to put that much time into WvW

LOL, I had thoughts if there was going to be a legendary backpiece, and there it is. Since I WvW quite a bit, I might look into it.

Metal Spikes! Flaming Fires! Tatttered banners! You'd have to be a REAL BADASS to wear that. I know when I see a guy with a backpack like that my first thought is WHAT A BADASS. I bet he doesn't TAKE ANY SHIT.
