Is the server up? I keep getting an error that says the servers aren't available when trying to play.
Edit: Nevermind, seems to be working now. Had to restart the launcher

So is there gonna be any other way to get in besides pre-ordering? I am looking to try this and switch over from FFXIV but I don't want to pre-order to try is especially with an MMO.

So far, the only difference I've noticed between the PvE and the PvP server is that randomly high level people show up and start one-shotting low level people. So it's like random death just occurs while leveling, because I started about 9 hours after the people who started right at noon did.

Open world PvP fundamentally sucks unless you're part of the biggest zerg. I might drop the GAF guild and join one of the 4chan guilds instead so I can be in the zerg, otherwise the only difference between the PvE server and the PvP server is I randomly get killed by gangs of other players. Which isn't fun.

Berserker seems like a fun class as far as I can see, though it's hard to solo PvP with a berserker since I don't have any skills which let me catch anyone who's running away. The one time I ran into a guy who tried to solo gank me, I got him down to a sliver of life, then he ran and used a pot and then 3 of his friends appeared and killed me. That wasn't fun either.

Finally got the e-mail confirmation this morning(4 of them actually since I tried resend 3 times :p ,downloading now but why is the launcher page so huge that I cant even moving it around,I dont see the borders...no biggie just weird.

Just spent about 13 hours straight playing. Leveled my Slayer from the last phase a little, then started a sorc and ran all the way to 19 without even realizing it. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of the game by not grouping and not socializing but hey, nobody really bothered to even talk/try to group until 12 hours and 45 minutes in when a random group invite came.

Gotta say... this is the first MMO since the original EQ that has captured my attention. I've played: EQ, City of Heroes, EQ2, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard (yeah... I know...), FFXI, FF14 and a few others (never WoW). I think it's the action-esque combat that has me hooked. I can't go back to the old MMO style of gameplay.

Just wandering the world is fun. Lots of pretty scenery that's generally unique from one area to the next. Kind of disappointed with the recycled enemies zone to zone, though. How Square thought FF14 could even remotely compete with current-gen MMOs is beyond me, Tera blows it out of the friggin' water.

Just noticed my download frequently gets a ''reliable source checksum error...retrying'' that pauses the download...this will take a while.

I'm not sure who created the GAF guild on Serpentis Isle, but I only saw one person in the guild online (Shae) and he/she didn't have rights to invite others. D'oh.

I started a second character - an Aman Warrior - and I'm having a much better time than I was with the Priest. Thing is, the Warrior seems pretty weak compared to the Priest; I have less health, less mana, I use more mana, I take roughly the same level of damage without having healing (not to mention I have at least one move that actually hurts me), and so far I still deal less damage. It's a really fun, satisfying style of play and I wouldn't say it is actually weak relative to the content, but the Priest in the first 18 or so levels was kind of a powerhouse in comparison. I've heard that the NA-Tera guys have plans to change how the Warrior works; hopefully it isn't that drastic as I really like what I'm playing so far.

I'm uploading a vid of me smacking the "boss" of the starter zone (and getting smacked myself) for anyone who's not playing but wants to see some uncut gameplay from the early levels.

Amazon won't charge you for pre ordering and youll get the key fast. o:
You can always cancel it if you don't like..

I warped to this quest location through a portal and there was this Baraka priest named Leman there. OK, np, I started killing some mobs and he just stood there behind me and helped me. He didn't send me a party invite and it was as if he was waiting for me to clear the room so he could move forward into the next room, jerk!

Then I realized he was my NPC companion for that quest, SMH!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Funny people keep LFG for that quest yet I managed to solo it without a problem.

I played a Lancer to level 16. I have to admit the attacks are a heck of a lot slower and the recovery time a lot longer than I was expecting. A lot of times I saw the enemy attacking but because I was stuck in the attack animation there wasn't anything I could do about it. I guess they don't want it to be too easy to block everything.

Edit:
It was also annoying trying to funnel groups of mobs together so I could hit them all with my lance. This was doubly frustrating on escort quests. Hopefully a taunt will make that easier...

On Serpentis Isle I'm hoping to reach 20 on my Priest if anyone would like to do the dungeon that's level 20+? I'd feel more comfortable learning to dungeon heal with fellow gaffers. But I'm only level 12 atm, so I'll report back when I'm high enough level.

GAF Guild

GAF guild is now open application. The PVE guild has around 24 members, but most of these members are on Valley of Titans (PVP) right now, so this will make it easier to get all the newcomers on the PVE server into the guild. I made the same change to the PVP guild.

PVE Server Instructions

1. Social Menu - Guilds on Server

2. Enter Gaf into the "Guild Name" Search or Sort by Guild Name and find Gaf

3. Click on the "Apply to Guild" button

4. A popup window will display, asking you to enter a message. Please put your GAF username here.

I'm on Serpentis Isle now and will check back in an hour or so and approve everyone I see. From there, I'll periodically check both servers throughout the day and approve applications. There are several other members that can also approve, but again, most are on PVP at the moment.

How come my download is entirely compromised of miniscule patches of few megas at best instead of just giant patch?

I can't see how much more longer is the download gonna be and it takes forever applying the individual patches.

Finally finished the download and the patching(download was the longest took 6 hours,patching took like 15 minutes).

Made a Slayer on Serpentis PvE...I am also trying to play with the 360 controller,so far it's fairly well done except a few things I still can't figure how to make it work with,like zooming in and out on your character,tooltips,comparing gear and equip etc etc...

Also I mentionned this before but how can I adjust the damn launcher? why is it so huge and the borders are way out of my screen(playing on a HDTV through HDMI)...they also need to fix the huge chat windown in game lol.

CAW, how are you liking it now after a day of play? How is the repetitiveness and stuff? What are the quests like? I love the graphics and art style. Might be the first MMO I play. The 360 controller support + actual real-time combat instead of the horrible SWTOR/WoW method sounds so good and a breath of fresh air.

hmm wonder if I should just pre-order from Amazon and then cancel if don't like it

I really like this game, but not having to pay a monthly sub since vanilla WoW, in combination with enjoying Steam Sales for the last 5 years, is shaping up to be my only reservation.

I hope they send the key soon, some of the messages in the amazon discussion forum for the game didn't sound like it's a lock to get the key in a timely manner . Closed Beta 2 ends tomorrow, doubt i'll get it.

Yep. I tried the PvP server and found it absolutely stupid if you weren't part of a group that leveled up as fast as possible to gank others.

I'm not even against the idea of open world PvP, but it doesn't really work in a linear game with fairly small areas where the high levels know where all the low levels will be funneled through.

I could never understand why people would want to play open world PvP if it's set up in a way where high level guys can so easily destroy people in starting areas.

They really should have their stats taken down to an equivalent area but get to keep their skills.

Amazon might be out of keys already. You can get one by contacting En Masse with the receipt probably though.

Applied for the Gaf guild on Serpent as well...this game sure looks awesome,I love the art style and the graphics are pretty nice as well...just reached level 4 lol...having a little trouble with the quest tracker on some quests though and although the 360 controller works great for battles,it's a little cumbesome for the general UI stuff so far and of course you can't type...i`ll probably use both set-ups.

Approved everyone on Serpentis and Valley of Titans except for "Leixia". Didn't include a GAF name, so I don't know who it is..

Having fun on the PVP server so far. Not nearly as much ganking as I expected, but I still feel like there needs to be some kind of level restriction. I like that PVP encourages grouping more -- I think rolling with a group for the most part has helped keep me out of the fray.

Are Warriors a dps class or a tank class?

the pvp server has been a blast. It's now getting to the point where we can't really fight this many groups of organized people, but it's still a lot of fun. It does feel great in a certain way, to be so feared, and to have an entire server band together to try and take you down.

Okay I'm bored. :( Glad I was able to get into the beta in the end. The combat is more interactive then I'm used to in MMOs over the years but only by a little bit. Those ads they are doing are pretty misleading in regard to just how much different combat is from past MMOs. Still I'll give them credit for trying to stand out. As I said before I don't have any big issues of the game. It runs well and looks great. Combat is more then just old ability pushing but there is still plenty of that. I'd put in the area with DC Universe Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Line of sight is the big difference.

I think I am going to cancel my preorder in the end. Will know for certain when I play again tomorrow morning. Story wise it isn't grabbing me and for me personally this is important in a MMO. Has been since I first played Everquest: Ruins of Kunark all those years ago. I'm only level 14 now but I think that is enough time to let the game establish the story and game world. There is something about the flight and what is taking place during it (point of view, etc) that made me a little sick looking at it earlier today. Area chat is horrible. I've been playing with that channel turned off mostly because it's become so annoying and I've been focused on the game anyway. Since it's off it's made me focus on the game's world and story more. Lack of having multiple starting areas means I'll be doing the same quest over and over again and doing them the first time hasn't been that interesting. In the last few levels I've started to ignore what is being said. Things just haven't been interesting enough to pay attention and I don't like it when that happens.

Well whatever it was I just decided to download it again, without changing the root of the download and it's going fine now.

3 days lost though sigh.
