They better get a filler arc ready so Kirkman-sama can create more canon material.

Isn’t Kirkman done with the show and AMC. I remember reading something about him and a couple of others suing AMC for a billion

I imagine things are tense. There is some lawsuit between him + other producers and AMC. They claimed that AMC was doing some creative accounting between the network and its studio arm, which cut out the profits that the producers were entitled to.

They could do an arc set between AOW and a New Beginning.

As far as I know the lawsuit isn't having an impact on Kirkman and the other producers working on the show. Kirkman did tho make a deal with Amazon for any future shows. So I bet things are pretty weird between him and AMC.

He's at the Sanctuary still with Negan.

‘The Walking Dead’ Plans Crossover With ‘Fear The Walking Dead’

“There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name,” Kirkman told the crowd of what has been a question fans have asked since prequel of sorts FearTWD debuted in the summer of 2015. “This is a huge event in the world of The Walking Dead,” he added of the crossover expected to occur in the next year.

“There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name,” he continued. “Now, what does that mean? Because these timelines, like… how does that work? Are we going to see an interesting backstory of a Walking Dead character in Fear the Walking Dead? Or are we going to see a Fear the Walking Dead character show up in The Walking Dead and show a future version of the character?”

Any guesses?

I think the current season of Fear the Walking Dead is, timeline wise, at around season 2 of The Walking Dead. Given that, I can't imagine we'll get any TWD characters on FtWD unless it's a minor character like Morales (#MoralesLives) or maybe someone like Jesus or Negan, who plausibly could have been around the US/Mexico border before they came to the Washington DC area. It's also possible that they're planning a time jump between seasons 3 and 4 of FtWD, which would bring it up to speed with TWD's current timeline, but a single character crossover still wouldn't make sense unless it was someone who's been off the show for quite some time (Heath?).

I think it's likelier that we'll see a FtWD character show up on TWD, which would mean a time jump for that character, not to mention that it would erase any tension for them on FtWD since everyone would know they survived the next few years - unless they're planning on moving that character over permanently... Ever since season 2, people have speculated that maybe Nick ends up as (comic spoilers) a Whisperer, so maybe it's that? Or maybe the character will be a replacement for Magna?

(But then again, a TWD character crossover would theoretically give FtWD a boost in the ratings, but the opposite isn't really true, so...)

I just gotta bitch about the last couple of seasons and the beginning of Season 7 real quick.

I fucking hate when shows/movies have purposefully stupid character decisions to facilitate a plot that won't drive the writers into a corner.

For starters Maggie and Glenn not speaking up about the nonsense they witnessed in Alexandria was infuriating. It's like "oh, no let's watch Rick go dick-crazy trying to pork the surgeons wife while this shithead priest poisons the well...yup." And Glenn trying to play life coach to a coward that got two people killed like he's learned nothing after all this time, especially after the priest's background story not one season ago.

Rick has turned into Shane 2.0 by now. Not because he's had to kill multiple times - that has been dealt with competently enough; he's practically taken Shane's impulsiveness and thick-headed cockiness and made it an integral part of his character. Basically, Rick's everyone favourite cartoon badass now so let's have him kill and stare down people soaked in blood. Yeah!

"Carl... KORL! We gonna go fuck up some Saviors ...we're good like that... we got this. Ain't that right y'all?"

"No... No. We didn't manage to squeak by on dumb luck and a good bit of plot armor this entire time. The last time we went and kicked a hornet's nest it went so well we lost base camp and one of the better characters, not to mention we had a better reason to attack."

Anyway, I basically stopped watching at this point while my GF carried on and only perked my
ear when I heard Steven Ogg speak... and then Jeffrey Dean Morgan walks out, and I'm like "wait, so there's an actual person named "Negan"? I thought it was some sort of deity these crazies cooked up. Whatever. Oh, he's gloating. He's monologueing. God, this is boring. This would mean something if I still have a shit about these characters, but the last good anchor character died with Hershel. At some point I turned off Megan's rambling and started thinking about how the Hilltop people are conveniently idiotic when it comes to divulging useful info, because when Jesus said "your world is about to get a whole lot bigger" I figured he wouldn't leave out a tiny detail like these people being a literal fucking legion. Somehow for all their manpower they missed Alexandria and vice versa, too. But, whatever. Who's gonna die here? The only way this show wins back my interest is if some character goes kamikaze and kills Negan and then have the rest escape somehow.

Nope.

Instead I hear Rick's pathetic crying while I'm falling asleep and think "God, you stupid son of a bitch."

This show's gotten dumb.

Sweet gore porn on Glenn's death though.
On that note, it's like the show's just trying to go for shock value because everyone has mellowed out to the skin ripping off the zombies.

Negan gets way too repetitive for my taste. He is very much a one trick pony that gets old pretty fast, IMO. I hope his character has more things to do this time then walk around and intimidate people. I never felt like this reading the comic.

Well, last season premiere was also great, and look at what the rest of the season brought us.
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the episode, thought i'd just lose another hour of my life watching it, but I liked it a lot.

Considering that we don't have like 4 or 5 different groups, with an entire episode focusing on 1 group, this season is off to a good start, with prospects of the story actually moving forward faster than a snail.

I thought it was pretty notably bad, and deliberately kinda confusing for no real purpose. I usually like every TWD episode, but the season premiere left a bad taste in my mouth. It just seemed like a total waste of time....a bunch of buildup with no payoff. A bunch of weirdness that’s never going to go anywhere.

Strange that the Alexandrians were under Negan’s boot heel for a season but now they’re just superninjas that swoop out of nowhere to take down every guard and outpost. It’s weird that they can somehow predict when and where a zombie herd will be down to the minutes. It’s weird that nobody shoots Negan the moment he appears. I still have no idea why they wasted an ungodly amount of ammos shooting out glass windows.

It’s like they turned everyone into a superhero removing all sense of tension, but made them too stupid to actually resolve conflict.

Ok, after getting left behind on the last season (only watched the first episode), last Sunday I went to my parents' house and watched the 8th season premiere with my dad.

He told me that I wasn't missing much from not having seen season 7 and told me who died what happened (Eugene is with the bad guys?!??!?!). Basically, Rick gathered people from the Kingdom and the Hilltop to fight against Negan.

I honestly, while watching this show, can't seem to notice all the things people from the internet nickpick about. The action was good, the dialogue was ok and the plot seems to be moving forward again.
At first I also thought "Why did you stop shooting at negan? he was right there!" but Gabriel made him realize that the zombies were close The photo thing was clever, but not very appropiated... i mean, you dont have time to shoot but you have time to take a photo?.

I think that the show and the characters' decisions become more rational/understandable when us, the viewers, put on the shoes of the characters.

My only gripe is that the forest setting became boring like 2 seasons ago. I wish they went back to the city... or that it snowed or something

I thought the show was lackluster but I think that is more of just a personal thing since most of the characters annoy me now and the only interesting character to me is Negan and that is primarily cause he is a grade-A asshole and hilarious.

Was there a reason why everyone was wasting ammo shooting at the windows in the end of that scene (right before they cut to commercials) where Rick and crew open fire? I watch this show more to laugh at it than anything and sure enough was laughing at that but figured there had to be some reason for it.

I assumed to keep people from coming out before the zombies arrive, and/or to attract the horde.

Can't say I loved the episode, we don't really know how hard the Savior's got hit outside of a few lookouts, and in fact they now have a hostage. Was that a win? They apparently have insane numbers and I feel like we didn't see much of them at all.

They also really need to write around plot armor better than Negan standing out in the open, when the other group has snipers they used just a little earlier but decide not to here. Not unlike Sasha giving up her perfect sniper vantage point last season because.. well I guess because she was leaving the show.

The writing can be very frustrating to my enjoyment of the show, especially now that the gore has been toned down tremendously. They cut away from the chain zombie having a snack, not even showing pushing the mayor down the stairs (He survived, but still, what), and little to no actual carnage when the horde invades the compound aside from a few zombies getting lit. Usually the show had that kind of stuff to fall back on when the writing sucked but now.. eh.

Without having read the comics, I feel like the writers are trying to drive the narrative of Rick and pals trying to pull a Negan on Negan.

Negan had many chances to kill his biggest threat in the form of Rick all the way up to last season's finale. He decided not to because he wanted to break and dominate him because Alexandria can still be of value to the Saviors.

The whole part with the picture and Gabriel reminding Rick that 'this isn't about him' makes me think they are scheming to get the rest of the Saviors to become an asset to them. Showing the Savious how Team Family is able to corner and terrorize their kingpin could maybe get them to drop their act and become a part of the whole Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom tradegroup which would be of value considering the size of their group. Killing Negan would probably get one of his brutes to claim they are Negan now in the same sense that killing Rick would have someone like Darryl or Michonne to go berserk.

Not saying I agree with the choices made but I feel like it would make sense considering the central narrative of building up a sustainable future for Alexandria of the past few seasons.

If Negan had at least had a hostage or something, at least it would have made sense that they don't shoot at him. Would it have been that hard for the writers to keep Sasha around for just 1 more episode so they could have a plausible standoff? Rather than kill her in some dumb zombie-coffin scheme that was going to distract Negan for a moment at absolute best.

They could have killed her off in the Season Premiere. My point is that if Negan had her as a hostage there would at least be a reason that everybody let Negan stand around talking. Or why the man who has thrice vowed to kill him just lets him have a little speech.

You know, this is a very good theory. They don't HAVE to kill him ASAP, if Negan wants to dominate Rick and subdue everybody, then Rick will try to do the same with the Saviors.

It sucks that the show didn't explain this in a better way..

Terrible season premier. Ugh, the programme has just got really silly and corny. I mean when the priest enters the caravan and Negan starts speaking, why didn't they have priest try to shoot him immediately only for Negan to disarm him and then end with the shitting pants line? That would have been a huge improvement rather than the whole Negan talking and slowly coming out of the darkness stuff lol.

Last episode I truly enjoyed was Ep1/2 of Season 7 then the rest of 7 was mostly forgettable. The pacing and flash forwards or whatever in the S8 premier was all over the place. It just felt ... bad.

I really enjoyed the premier, better than the usual slow paced premier where the focus is only on a few characters.

I'm surprised they just managed to walk up that close to the sanctuary, i know they took out the lookouts, but still you would have thought negan would have a bite more defence on the front.

Except Rick literally flat out said that Negan has to die, and that he wants to kill only him. There’s no greater plan being the reason they can’t just kill him. It’s simply bad writing. When plot armor becomes so blatantly stupid it’s just inexcusable.
