Agents of Mayhem |OT| Ain'ts Row

LD2mEFs.jpg

In a simultaneous global assault, LEGION has taken control of the nations of the world and the only force left to stop them is MAYHEM. Led by the mysterious and no-nonsense Persephone Brimstone, MAYHEM's elite Super Agents are called to the city of Seoul, South Korea. Led by LEGION Minister Doctor Babylon and his diabolical lieutenants, a nefarious plot is set in motion to build a world-altering device that will grant unrivaled power to the supervillain organization. In order to stop LEGION and take back the world, the Agents of Mayhem will traverse a sprawling urban battlefield from the ground to the rooftops and team up as a super-agent collective to stop LEGION at any cost. Success is far from guaranteed and collateral damage will be substantial, but it's all in a day's work for the Agents. The Agents of MAYHEM (Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds) fuse together technology, weaponry and gadgets to create an all-out arsenal of futuristic warfare-and have absolutely no qualms about putting it all to use against their enemies.

Gadgets also allow you to further customize the gameplay of each Agent, which can affect your squad's dynamics as a direct result.

M.A.Y.H.E.M:
Following LEGION's simultaneous attack that spanned the globe, Persephone Brimstone founded MAYHEM: The Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds. Composed of highly skilled Agents from all over the world and all walks of life, and funded by the deep pockets of Ultor, MAYHEM operates with total impunity to combat the global threat of LEGION.

L.E.G.I.O.N:
LEGION: The League of Evil Gentlemen Intent On Obliterating Nations. An organization of supervillains that has come out of the shadows with a coordinated, devastating attack on the world's nations. With the world already under its dominion, LEGION Minister ”Doctor Babylon" and his lieutenants are preparing for the next phase of their evil scheme in Seoul, The City of Tomorrow.

The City of Seoul:
Agents of Mayhem takes place in the near-future city of Seoul, which is currently rebuilding and recovering from LEGION's world-wide attack, while still being occupied under the iron grip of LEGION. The open world of Seoul is both dense and vertical, with the action taking place on the ground, in the sky on many of the under-construction buildings, and even underground in secret LEGION lairs and complexes.

FAQS:

It has heroes, is this game co-op?

This game is not multiplayer and does not have co-op.

Agents of Mayhem is built exclusively as a single player experience. We've created the game this way in order to give players the feel of controlling an entire agency of super agents themselves.

It looks like Saint's Row, is there a connection?

This game is an alternate timeline in the Saint's Row Universe.

In this universe,
Julius never created the Saint's because Kingpin (Pierce), managed to unite all three gangs from the first Saint's Row, The Vice Kings, The Westside Rollerz, and the Los Carnales.

Seriously bro, where is the co-op?

Stop it.

Character customization?

That's not here either.

This is not a Saint's Row game, this is it's own thing. Please keep that in mind.

This is not only my first OT, but my first thread as well. Please forgive the barebones-ness of it. I'll add some more images along with the reviews when I get some more time.

I preordered this digitally for PS4 months ago through Amazon for $41. Kinda upset that I can't get Johnny Gat. However I am still stupidly excited for this game.

Thanks for the OT. Looking forward to playing this later this week (waiting for Best Buy to ship it since I ordered late). From early impressions I'm hoping it scratches the same itch of open world mayhem and humor from the Saints Row series.

That's a pretty god tier subtitle

Feels like this game is coming out on a tepid note but hopefully this game can channel some of that Saints Row magic

wtf I thought this was a multiplayer class based tps... this whole time.

I thought the game had multiplayer as well until a friend told me it didn't, I even thought they were joking but then I checked the Steam page and saw no multiplayer or co-op tag, I was in disbelief.

To me it looked like a game with multiplayer features so I was really surprised to discover otherwise. It looks like it would be a really fun game to play with friends too, I'm still down for the game as a single-player experience anyway, it looks really cool!

I found the Saint's Row campaigns to be really fun, even just in the singleplayer mode, and this looks like it could be even better so I can't wait to play it!

Game looks pretty fun and I do like the overall hyperviolent 80s saturday morning cartoon vibe, but the writing is consistently off to me. Hopefully it doesnt drag the experience down too much cus i decided to pick this up when Sonic Mania got delayed on PC

Considering the running narrative with this game has been disappointment for being single player only, I have no idea how you thought that lol.

When this game is in the steam summer sale a year from now someones gonna post about how they refunded it cus they thought it was a multiplayer game

I went from not caring about this game to being really excited. Saint's Row quality writing + better gameplay actually sounds like a great thing. The character switching video thing they posted is basically what sold me on the game.

Finishing off Gat out of Hell tonight.

Hyped as fuck. I was skeptical of the format at first but it sounds like they kept all the great humour.

I have played about 4 hours on PS4, runs really well and the game is fun. I think anyone that enjoyed Saint's Row 3 or 4 will enjoy this.

Previews have looked great. I didn't know anything about this game before a preview segment in Sony's E3 show and have watched a bunch of videos of it in the last week. I pre-purchased it digitally on PS4 for the DLC skins and whatnot and am really looking forward to it.

Good OT!

I am totally waiting on reviews for this one. I loved SR3, liked SR4 and in general like what Volition puts out but the marketing so far has made me wait and see. I hope it's awesome.

I was going to wait until the reviews came out to get this but the clerk at gamestop said I could pick it up tonight when they have their early release for the Sonic Mania CE. This better not suck.

Been messing with this for the last hour or two.

It's...ok? The action is fun, my problem is just sort of the, uh, everything else. Writing just isn't hitting like the Saints Row games did.

Also feel like this might be the tiniest map in a Volition game yet? It certainly doesn't seem very big.

Again, though, only just got the option to explore the open world, so this could be way off.

Preloaded and really looking forward to the game. It's been a while since I dove into a chunky single player action thing, and I'm usually a fan of Volition's stuff. (Even the truly disappointing games like Armageddon still had plenty of things I liked.)

Hoping PC performance is solid.

how did you get to play early?

God fucking dammit. I saw Kingpin's picture, and the first thing I thought was "Is that Pierce?" Then I read his name and thought, "Oh god, did I mistake him for Pierce just because he's black?"
Turns out it's fucking Pierce.

Got this early from Amazon.

Playing in Xbox One.

Performance is BAD. Like, really bad.
24 FPS with stutter. Damn... Not even enjoyable in the slightest.

Excited to try it out. The Waypoint podcast made it sound like the game alright, if not bogged down by loading, menus and well, more menus, according to Patrick. That and a slow opening.

Nice OT OP.

I know it's beating the horse as it's a bottle of elmers on the shelf at this point but I would be 10000% more excited to play this if it even had couch co-op.

Heard in the other thread (Agents of Maybe) people being a bit negative about it. Never heard about the game before and checked a while ago it's gameplay trailer. It looks pretty fun... I mean, it looks better than Saints Row to me. I'm interested.

Kinda excited to play this, just not at the launch price point. Personally, I wish they didn't go the ensemble cast route. Customizing characters and outfitting them the way you want is a big part of the fun of Saint's row for me. I would much rather all the characters skills and abilities were tossed into a pool and you could pick which ones you wanted, and maybe through some online co-op in there (adjust the difficulty to fit it).
But, I'm curious to see how they're choices work out for them. Will stay tuned for reviews and impressions.
