The Last Guardian: Review Thread

From Geek culture:

"The Last Guardian needs to be experienced and played by everyone. Delving beyond what we mentioned above is to go into spoiler territory, but we implore you to jump in. Do that and you will most likely shed a tear or feel an emotional pull throughout the whole adventure. While not the most original tale on earth, its execution and its design is close to being perfect."

I hope it's recognized for the technical prowess of making strong a.i and animations. Those two things seem so important and lacking in other games.

Good lord. It just hit me that this is actually happening. This isn't a dream. This is real.

I think the average may be a bit low. Even the writer for the site I'm part of didn't seem to like it, or at the very least understand what the game was trying to achieve in execution and design, which left me puzzled as I edited it.

Not really a review, but Simon Parkin called it the standout game of 2016.

But the standout game of 2016 will be The Last Guardian, a Japanese-made buddy game about a young boy and a hulking, dog-like creature who together must escape a tumbledown castle. In the pair’s movements the game has all the masterly animation of a Studio Ghibli film, but The Last Guardian’s true power comes from the way in which a story of trust, companionship and restoration (Trico, as the creature is called, has clearly suffered much abuse at the hands of his captors) is told not through cinematic scenes, but through the game’s tactile interactions. If ever there was a story to salve the wounds inflicted by this dark year, this is it.

We're at the final stretch.

Predicting 84 average.

Yeah, 84 is what I was thinking earlier. I think it's going to have a few 9s, a few 7s and mostly 8s. I'm interested to see what Edge thinks of it, but won't know that for a few weeks when the next issue comes out.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
At this point I expect mid 80's as some people weight the technical hiccups more than the others and some just don't care for this type of game.

Did that review spoil something pretty big (
"how they got out of the ruins" - i.e. they both make it out
)? Hope not.
