Schwimmer... disappeared? I heard he was directing but I've no clue what he directs. Porn?

He directs some good shit, such as Trust, which won some awards and was a very good film.

On that note (one of the stars of said film):

I'll go with my go-to: Clive Owen. Seriously, wtf? He was EVERYWHERE for a while there..

Clive is well know for being willing to go with projects he likes over commercial stuff, he quit a huge TV show in the UK (Chancer) at the height of it's popularity as he didn't believe in it anymore.

He has also made some terrible choices in Hollywood when they were trying to make him into a leading man, but his lower budget work is superb, such as Trust, The Boys are Back and Closer.

For one thing you've got the order wrong, BTTF was before Roger Rabbit. He was also Uncle Fester in the Addams Family Movies, and became a kids movie staple. Look at his IMDB, he made several high profile films a year until like 2000.

I meant that he stoped with Brown after "Roger" BttF 3 was 1990. But other than that I don't see "hit" or high-profile roles unless you care to point some out.

An actor has a hit and then disappear after a few turkeys is the norm for actors.

What amaze me are some actors who were in so many big movies and still couldn't secure decent B-list careers afterward.

My favorite example is Orlando Bloom. Look at the movies he had been in between 2001 - 2007.

3 LotR movies
3 Pirates movies where he was arguable the leading man.
Kingdom of Heaven, holy shit this is a fucking masterpiece.

I know he tried a couple romantic comedy leading man and failed. But he should be able to get in decent B action movies. And yet he can't get work in any movie you have heard of. Amazing!
I was wondering the same thing, he was part of so many blockbusters but not much ever since. He did star in that Musketeers film but apparently it didn't do any good. At least he will have second shot with Hobbit trilogy.

He was the main villain in Star Trek 3. He was a breakout star on a hit TV show for six years. Early in his career he was in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

He had been acting for 20 years by the mid '90s. He's had an enormously successful career.

Bloom is wooden as fuck and has zero range. I imagine he made enough dough out of LOTR / Pirates to never work again so we all win.

I think Bloom is more interested in the fashion world is the reason he isn't doing a lot of movies.

Cuba Gooding Jr. was the first name that popped into my head. Halle Berry is another one that fell off after winning an Oscar. I get the feeling Natalie Portman is heading down the same path.

He was actually pretty good in that god awful 3D Musketeers film recently. Best part of it, even if the movie was shit.

I think a good candidate could be pre-Sin City Mickey Rourke. Dude was an awesome actor and potential to be a huge star. Then fucks it all up and goes dark for about 10-15 years before a career renaissance.

Nah, she's got the Thor movies to keep her relevant while she pursues her more interesting roles.

How did Cuba Gooding Jr. fall to the 22nd post???

I read the title, and he magically appeared in my brain.

Black Swan wasn't that long ago right? And didn't she recently have a kid? I feel like she'll still be on the upswing for at least 3 mire years.

Portman would be the example of actor who is smart and keep picking scripts that can maintain her/her career.

I mean some of the movies she did obviously she didn't care about at all but she did them anyway to keep herself relevant in certain demographic. That's a dedicated actor.

A lot of people consider stage-work a "downgrade" from Film or TV :/

Not only that but folks are posting people who have had long and successful careers who eventually got old and, naturally, their careers faded away (Meg Ryan, Christopher Lloyd, Al Pacino(!!), etc.)

Anyone seen Liv Taylor in anything recently. Not sure she ever had a big hit to qualify for this thread though.

Cox is the most succesful Friend imo.

She has the Scream-franchise to back her up.

Fucking ey.

Best horror trilogy. <3

was alright. well scream was good.

however, successful is obviously anniston. You might not like her brand of successful but she is pretty much guaranteed bank for any movie studio. They can churn out 3x 'shit romcom staring jennifer aniston' per year and get good profit on all of them. She's found an awesome niche and she's easy on the eyes, so good for her.

That is the most depressing photo I've seen in a long-ass time.

please tell me that's on the set of a tv show :(

he was so good in American history x.

Shannon Elizabeth. One and done basically after her nude scene in American Pie.
Isn't there some hollywood "rule", that after you're drawing blank the highend stuff will be out of reach?

Edit: no, wait that's stupid. Halle Berry and Charlize Therone did it and had no problems.

There's also Sarah Michelle Gellar... after Buffy, she didn't do a lot that I remember, then came Ringer... which essentially is crashing and burning, despite being ridiculously trashy fun.

She actually did quite a bit... Wouldn't say it was quality work, but her career certainly didn't die. Off the top of my head she did Scooby Doo 1 and 2, Southland Tales and the Grudge.

At least give her a couple years to raise her child.

IMDB sez he has a string of movies for 2012.

So he's not in the best physical shape. He's still acting. This picture was taken on a movie set.

Just the look on his face. The look of "I was in Detroit Rock City for fuck's sake! What happened?!"

(And T2 as well but whatever)

Seriously though, all things considered he's doing well for himself. Especially compared to most other child stars.

Kirsten Dunst. Had like the biggest crush on her in that cheerleader movie. Played Mary Jane and then fell off in to obscurity.

You're giving Aniston too much credit. The success she's had is almost always due to a male costar. She's a decent co-star, not the star of the picture.

Jonathan Brandis from Seaquest DSV and a few others from the early '90s. Career petered out and he killed himself at age 27. Sad story.

If anything, we've demonstrated a lot of evidence that actresses not named Meryl Streep have a much shorter shelf life than actors.

I think Doris Roberts from Everybody Loves Raymond said that work for actresses above the age of 30 or 40 is very hard to come by.
