I'd start 0. It's likely on sale or purchasable at a reduced price by now.
I think it would give a stronger first impression of the series. Either is fine though.

My copy arrived on Saturday and I'm up to Chapter 6 so far. I'm enjoying the call backs to 0, which is the only other one I've played. Spending a lot of time searching for substories and collecting stuff. I feel like I've probably upgraded Kiryu further than what he should be for where I am in the story. But I'm earning a ton of EXP as a byproduct of just taking my time and never running away from fights.
Boy, was there.
Can anyone say if the funeral is less infuriating in the remake? I swear I can hear the guards' dubbed voices in my head as I type this because I had to retry that thing like 30 times in the original.

Actually its not, if there is one thing I found out about this series is it doesn't drop in price that much. 0 is around $55 still. 3 & 4 are still about $40 each.

Have you guys ever had a video game series you wanted to get into and just couldnt? I have, and it's always been the Yakuza series. In the past I tried to play Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 and never could get a few hours into it, but Kiwami hit me. Hard.
Kiwami adds 30 mins of new cutscenes, more side stuff + distractions. Plus, it probably helps I'm not starting in the middle of the series like previously. There's also this "Majima Everywhere" system, where this wacky, deranged, one-eyed maniac pops up to challenge you in weird, fun ways. On top of all that, it looks really damn good! Solid 1080p/60 and the load times are seconds long on PS4 Pro with Boostmode.

Been playing this since the weekend and as a longtime fan I'm very happy. Really great finally playing the story of the first game with the proper Kazuma VO, love it.
The Majima Anywhere system is a fun addition, I'm really liking it. Everytime I see Majima run over to me I just can't help but burst out laughing.
Also, and maybe it's just me, but I think the main menu is cool as fuck. It's literally just Kazuma from the back showing his tattoo and breathing but mixed with the music I love it. (or maybe as a huge fan I'm easily impressed! )

lol yeah you're totally right. ugh. I think I put too much thought into that post. I was trying to help people relate to what I was going through with the series. I just couldn't get into them, like at all.
Oh well...
It's just cool I finally like one of these games.

I used a 20% off coupon to get 0 on PSN and have 4 in my PS+ backlog. You're right though, I think 3 cost me about $35 used three years ago

I'm actually looking forward to it. As 0 was my first game in the series, it was a bit overwhelming handling two characters. It felt like just as I was getting somewhere with one of them, the story made me switch to the other. So I'll be happy to be able to focus on just one character this time.
