Phantasy Star P performance is really impressive, they should go to Capcom and thank them for making this kind of games so popular on PSP.

Another surprising game is Fossil Diggers, after it´s low first week numbers it was considered a bomb and now we see this game every week since months...

Tiktaalik said:
I thought the preview numbers from last weeks thread had data for Captain Rainbow... were they too low to show up here?

Captain Rainbow sold about 6-7k first week. The last game in this Top30 charts probably just sold more ;)

Wasn't Fire Emblem DS absent from the top 30 last week? I take it that there was a post-restock rebound, price slash or something.

Oh, and Wii am new PS3 confirmed. :D

I would love for Capcom to have a worldwide debut of MHP3 next year. UMD/PS Store dual release on three continents on the same day, probably would help increase the fanbase outside the homeland.

I wonder if Sony plans to bring over Shiki Tei.

I saw it on Toro channel and I would like my own simulated garden. ^_^

I'll wait till MC comes out but if the Wii umbers have gotten that low, I expect a huge MC 9/8-9/16 thread. There's a double stream crossing possibility when the 360 price drop hits. It's actually kind of funny if the 360 manages to outsell the Wii in Japan before the US. That's Twilight Zone for ya.

Although I think Sony would love it if the PS3 managed to do 24k a week.

Hasn't there been at least 2 NPD months where the 360 outsold the Wii? First Wii December and Halo 3 launch month?

Yeah but its been a year of consistency.

Last year Wii dip is repeating, but weekly sales before it were higher than this year, so its quite lower at this time this year than in the last one. In fact I think PSP looks like its pretty much matching Wii dip last year.

Wii 38472

2007-09-10 to 2007-09-16
Wii 30222

Looks like DS-aside, its going to be a pretty bad September all around.

Next Wii games in japan?

Disaster: Day of Crisis hits at the end of the month, then we've got Sky Crawlers, Tenchu IV and a couple of other mid-range titles hitting in the next month. After that we should see Wii Music and Animal Crossing coming in the month or two before Christmas.

I think Fragile and LKS are, but Kizuna and Arc Rise Fantasia are likely to be 2009 releases. We should get more info in the run-up to TGS.

Kizuna is 2008, unless they delay it.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Kizuna is suppose to come out this year too. Arc Rise Fantasia has no date so it could be 2009.

Rune Factory Frontier is also coming out in November.

Hmm of all the titles, I wonder how Wii Music is going to perform. I'm expecting it to do 1M+ at the minimum based on the performance of Wii Sports and Wii Fit alone. More sales depends on how good it actually is. It's the first big Wii ___ title without any shortages attached. Wii Sports had ofcourse the system itself out of stock, while Wii Fit had the balance board shortage. If it's actually any good we could be seeing huge first week sales.

Apparently a Japanese date has now emerged - September 25 - and the game will be launching there first, with Europe to follow at the end of October and the US at some unspecified date.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
How many "core" titles bomb before Nintendo either:

1. Reverses this new "wont reveal any information till just before launch" philosophy of letting the market drive sales instead of marketing
2. Stops internally developing them altogether

Why is people assuming that the new policy of not revealing information about new titles until a bit before launch is affecting sales negatively? I have seen this talked here a lot of times, but I haven't seen any proof that it's hurting Nintendo.

It's not just that they are revealing stuff late, it's also that they don't do much to promote the games after they reveal them. How are they expecting that people who dosen't know about a game, is going to end up buying it?

Examples: Captain Rainbow and soon Disaster.

Well apparently WLS is getting a advertised over there, dunno how well though

I thought Vinnk said that Wario Land got some advertising once the game was out, and the low launch sales were simply the fact that gamers weren't interested?

That's not the same. Even if that were true, that doesn't prove or disprove that not giving info about a game until a bit before it's released hurts sales.

And if they don't advertise those games more, it's because they think that it's not worth doing so. They would spend more on the marketing campaing that they would earn with the extra sales. Of course they could be wrong with some titles, and they should have spend more in marketing with them, but that is something that it's not easy to know beforehand.

Its pretty incredible what Alfa System has done on PSP. Shitty games selling tons :lol
Hell, Tales of the World is still the best selling tales on PSP, DS, Wii and 360. If Scamco wasn't stupid they would have made the sequel a little more multiplayer oriented.

Also, look, Alfa System has worked on an overseas version of Tales of Innocence:

But that's just for the asian version lol

Do they still do those? I checked what the last Nintendo-published Japanese GBA game that charted was, and it was... Rhythm Tengoku, two years ago.

Well, since I wait for the numbers to be final and official before adding them I won't include this year, but here's the equivalent week from last year, and two more on each side, for Wii. Both trackers.

It's dipping sooner this year. But it's also not coming down from a DQ Swords bump this year.

It is for now, but the 2008/late 2007 releases for the non-PSP systems have a decent chance to catch up once they've been out similarly long.
