Going by some things I've previously read, it suggests that it might be a new game rather than a remake, but I still really would like a remake of 2...

Any word on the exact time of when the stream is happening today? As the news will be revealed via a stream at some point today, but I've not seen any times listed (going by the Yakuzafan news article).

Always interested in hearing news on new Yakuza. I also hope for a different era game that would be localized.

I'm torn because part of me wants Kiwami 2, but it being a Dragon Engine game would oddly feel like a downgrade to me coming from 1080p 60fps Kiwami 1 lol, as good as it may look. Not to mention it'd make me wish for a Y3
the true GOAT
remake that will never happen.

Y3, 4 and 5 really only need ports with minor improvements anyway.

Kiwami 2 and a PS4 collection of the others 'completes' the series, so to speak.

One on the old engine for remakes to 1080p/60fps

One on the new engine for the mainline series.

They probably won't do that, but I'd happily take Yakuza 2 Kiwami on the old engine as it'd be a huge improvement. It would also not take long to make Yakuza 3 Kiwami doing this either as we've seen some cross gen games in that engine already. I wonder how other fans feel about this - to have Yakuza 0-5 using the old engine on the PS4.

And if as the fans are saying, Sega are really looking to the Asia market for success in this series, there's no doubt they would HAVE to remake Yakuza 2 as I don't imagine the PS2 version being big in Asia at the time.

Yeah, I think I'd be happy either way on this one. Yakuza 2 at 60FPS on the 0 engine with all the combat styles would be wonderful, but Yakuza 2 with 6's graphics would also be pretty cool. Young Kiryu and Ryuji's gorgeous mug in the new graphics?

Ho great can't wait to heard another yakuza game, i just been playing that freaking series for like 6 month (with 2-3 games in between). I will never be able to catch up...

?? my excuse is I don't wanna keep up with a commentary just to play a damn game! it's one thing to watch a commentary but to depend on it from beginning to end to play the game is too much

So... about that stream, looks like someone went through it and found a 'keyword' that will be associated with new Yakuza game:

“Chinpira (チンピラ)“

Which basically means a punk, low-level yakuza, you know, the dude that usually lights cigarettes etc.

And that means... Black Panther? Or maybe someone new, climbing from bottom to the top? Shit, I'd be down for that.

Man, I am getting old though. Will I still give a shit about Yakuza without Kiryu? He's what makes the series great.

Yeah, saw that news earlier. Be interesting to see what this turns out to be. Most likely we'll hear something at TGS, I'm no longer getting my hopes up that we'll get any substantial news before then!

Actually Y3 should get the cut content added back in for the Western port and then ported to the new engine.
