Haven't listened to as much as I'd like, but here are my favorites. Deep Dream in particular is a great female emo/grunge album!

1. Roger Waters: Is This the Life We Really Want 85/100
2. Tennis: Yours Conditionally 80/100
3. Mac Demarco: This Old Dog 80/100
4. The Flaming Lips: Oczy Mlody 70/100

I've been listening to older bands like New Order and Talking Heads to name a few; which is why I have such a short list so far.
The second half of the year is much more exciting to me with Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, and MGMT.

Joyce Wrice's Good Morning

Faith Evans' The King & I

Moonchild's Voyager

I just listened to this today and I was surprised. I shouldn't have been though because YouTube recommendations are on point. When I noticed this was R&B I had to see who the vocalist was. Amber? I wasn't expecting to see that name there and when I looked up a video for this album it was actually a white woman. Them lungs sound black like Corinne Bailey, Lianne Las Havas, Amel Larrieux black.

I don't know how this album is so good. The songs that hit hard hit hard, and the songs that are super sincere are somehow heartwarming without being cheesy.

Feist - Pleasure

crack-up.jpg

Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up

Also:
Idles
Kendrick
Vince Staples
Xiu Xiu
Mount Eerie
Land of Talk
Daye Jack
New Denzel Curry EP is pretty alright too

I haven't listened to an entire album since Daft Punk's Random Access Memories came out, yikes.
Hopefully I can find some good suggestions from here.

1. Harry Styles - Harry Styles .88
2. Chainsmokers - Memories...Do Not Open .80
3. Ed Sheeran - Divide .76
4. Paramore - After Laughter .76
5. Linkin Park - One More Light .74
6. Lorde - Melodrama .72
7. Migos - Culture - .707
8. Katy Perry - Witness - .706
9. Drake - More Life .70
10. Future - HNDRXX .68
11. Kodak Black - Painting Pictures .67
12. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. .66
13. Future - FUTURE .63
14. The xx - I See You .62
15. Big Season - I Decided .55

I'm also epecting Calvin Harris's Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 to be really high though. Almost every song is just so good.

You think the new Ed Sheeran, Linkin Park and Chainsmokers albums are better than DAMN.

My top 5 so far. I've listened to all of these numerous times each week and keep going back to them.

5. Hi! by Pristin.
K-Pop
It's a mini-album but every track on it is great. Modern k-pop at it's best with Wee Woo and Black Widow.
"Wee-Woo"
---
4. The Venomous by Nightrage
Melodic Death Metal
Probably their best work to date. Lots of modern influences along with some really lovely old-school melodeath sounds.
"Bemoan"
---
3. Bubble by Yanakoto Sotto Mute
J-pop/Alt-Idol
Very creative Alt-Idol jpop/rock. Has a very grunge-y sound to it on a lot of tracks. All four singers have very distinct voices and are pretty mesmerizing.
"Lily"
---
2. Reclaimer by Shadow Of Intent
Symphonic Death Metal / Deathcore
This album came out of nowhere for me. I've never been a big fan of deathcore or anything related to it, but this album blew me away. It's quite possibly the most impressive album I've heard this year. The lyrical themes, the muscianship, the brutality, the varied vocals, it all flows together to create a very awesome album.
"The Prophet's Beckoning"
---
1. The Eclipse by Serenity In Murder
Symphonic Melodic Death Metal
Forever one of my favorite bands. The intensity, melody, and flow to every song really stands out. I've been impressed by every song, every lyric, every note since day one and continue to have my expectations shattered when it comes to melodic death metal.
"The Revelation"

Excited to see what the 2nd half of the year brings. There's a new Arch Enemy on the horizon, as well as a slew of k-pop albums alongside some j-pop/alt-idol albums that should be hitting later this year.

Gorillaz - Humanz
Jamiroquai - Automaton
Neil Cicierega - Mouth Moods

Electric Octopus - Driving Under the Influence of Jams
Elder - Reflections of a Floating World
Monobrow - The Nacarat
sleepmakeswaves - Made of Breath Only
Øresund Space Collective / Maat Lander - Split LP
Samsara Blues Experiment - One With The Universe

John 00 Fleming - JOOF Editions Vol. 3
The Digital Blonde ‎- The Witches
Steve Birch ‎- Wonderland
John Digweed ‎- Live In Brooklyn (Output)
John Digweed - Bedrock Frequencies

Waiting on a bunch of bands to release albums in the next 4-5 months.

Haven't listened to a huge amount of new stuff:
Elder - Reflections of a floating world
Pallbearer - Heartless
I really like these two albums a lot. Hopefully the trend of good doom continues when sleep drop their new album.

Other stuff I liked
Mac Demarco - This Old Dog
Fleet foxes - crack up
Pond - weather

Lastly even though it's something I probably won't go back to I enjoyed the shit out of Pink Guys new album. Legit laughed the whole time.

Cigarettes After Sex.
Like The Jesus and Mary Chain's «Darklands» and Scritti Politti's «Cupid & Psyche» had a love child.

I just have one entry. Because all my other ones are already posted. They've been discussed to death already. But undoubtedly my most listened to and favorite album of the year so far is Victims of Love Propaganda by Descartes a Kant.

0010226386_10.jpg

Its hard to define it with a genre. There is a mishmash of just about everything. If you know Dresden Dolls that is about it. Each song is completely unique. But there is an overarching theme. A relationship with all its up and downs. From the sincere romance to the dark obsession. Overflowing with emotions the entire way through the journey. But it never loses the theme. None of the songs feel out of place. I could just listen to one song and be satisfied but it's an album that needs to be heard from beginning to end. Lyrically its amazing running the gamaut of emotion; humorous, poignant, and clever. There is a playfulness to the lyrics but it can go from funny to dark in a single line.

I have a feeling the new Mount Kimbie may end up being my fav this year. Those tracks with Micachu and King Krule are so dope.

bookmarked the thread. Many years ago I was introduced to Fleet Foxes in a similar thread, hope I can find something else this year.

I've been listening to Lorde's Melodrama (I even bought her concert tickets for next October) and Imagine Dragon's Evolve.

Calcin Harris' new album is terrible. Soooooo disappointed.

i barely listen to any new music anymore but i really love the new Mastodon album Emperor of Sand. one of my favorite metal albums this decade.

Slowdive's comeback album was great as well, need to listen to it more.

haven't heard ANY new hiphop i like this year which sucks :/ i needed that one great hiphop summer album but i didn't get it. i tried listening to a lot of stuff but Kendrick Lamar is still just annoying to me, Vince Staples does nothing to me.. etc. oh well at least i have all the 90s stuff. where are the new albums from Nas and GZA btw??

I see a lot of ones I like up in here! But I have a feeling Bent Knee's latest album will still be on top come December.
