Did anybody notice in the GL solicits that it's not just Johns that's off the main book? All four books' writers are off as of the issues 20s.

Yea. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut down most of the line soon enough. It just seems stretched way too thin.

It was pointed out. I wonder if those guys will be shuffled around internal of the Green Lantern line or if there will truly be all new fresh blood brought in. Or if some of those books even exist come June.

Batman 17 (Yeah, I didnt wait till Wednesday with Spider-Manye, not waiting with BatMayne)

Itsfuckingnothing.gif. A lot of build up for a disappointing end.

Bruce's ultimate deduction - that he won't kill Joker because "Gotham" would just throw something worse at him - lines up with Synder's idea of Gotham as this entity that throws your worst fear at you and exploits your weaknesses. But unlike Court/Night of Owl, in this instance...Batman kind of comes across just looking like a bitch.

Saw the Batman spoilers and frankly, I liked the story but
everyone's unharmed at the end besides a few cuts and bruises.

Damian wasn't killed.
Alfred wasn't really blinded.
Jason doesn't get his face rip off.
Everyone is fine.

That's pretty underwhelming considering the hype Snider and DC were pushing.
Joker even got disposed in the most cliche way imaginable...falling from a waterfall.

As I said, it wasn't bad. But it's nowhere close to what they were selling.

That said, it seems there are a few pages missing, and the chemical compound reveal is intriguing so maybe some thing happens that we're not seeing.

If not, I fail to see how this story would push Batman past his limits. Every single one of those guys has been in a similar situation dozens of times by now...

Well, Dick, killed 2 or 3 friends, and dug up the bodies of tons of Haly Circus Members.

Barbara, he kidnapped her mom, cut off a finger, and forced her into some sort of marraige ceremony.

Damien, he forced him to fight who he thought was Bruce, to the point that Damien was willing to let "Bruce" kill him, rather than kill "Bruce"

Tim and Jason, I can't quite remember. I think he might have forced them to fight each other to save their respective fathers.

Well that explains things a little bit.

But it's still underwhelming. I mean, none of these are Snyder's work. If nothing happens after that page then all the traumatic shit happened on other books...

I'm going to hold off on Batman until the issue is actually released, but I do find it funny that people are wanting ASlottM type of crazy shit after hearing nothing but bitching about ASlottM type of crazy shit for the last four months.

DC oversold it bro. Slott was hypetrolling hardcore before ASM ended but he delivered. Snyder didn't.

DC oversold it bro. .

What did they do? I ask honestly because I don't usually follow spoilery advertising/PR stuff.

I don't doubt they pushed it, though, but then again DC and Marvel and everyone else always push their stuff as world shattering, life changing, etc. etc. I'm just more talking about that apparently people are now wanting that stuff they were complaining about. A story doesn't have to have something like Doc Spidey or Electric Superman or whatever to be substantial.

I personally wasn't wanting Electric Superman or Doc Spidey, but I was certainly expecting more than what happened.

Saying the ending was disappointing =/= wanting some crazy brain switch bullshit or something equally drastic.

Sure, that's fine, I can't comment on the actual story yet till I read. I'm talking specifically about some of the 'it's not like ASM 700' criticism I've seen around.

I think it's just some offhand tweets from snyder to slott. They were mostly in jest iirc

Fuck.

The fuck.

Off.

I bet you watch porn and turn it off before the money shot.

Anybody who read all the tie ins care to explain why
all the Batkids were so depressed at the end? What did Joker say/do to them in their books that made them all emo?
I didn't really understand this either... There has to be more than the explanation Lonestar gave?

Oh well, I have't seen that, so I can't speak on it. But even then, I would have to wonder why anyone would want something like that, considering that in the context of this story, it would likely just be super fucked up and gross. At least, that's how I see it.

I'd love it if they gave China Mieville a crack at Green Lantern, allowing him to cut loose and go crazy with the concepts.

So I'm watching TV and a tech guy starts talking very seriously about work he is doing on a music concert.

The name of the guy? Batman Zavarese

I'm sorry man, but I can't take you seriously with Batman for a first name... LOL

That could be pretty entertaining. I don't think I give a damn about continuity any more. Would be fun to see how odd things would get.

I might give those Detective issues a read.

<3 Chew so much.

They are a slightly enjoyable sideshow. Been slowly getting better as he goes on.

Tomasi is a very boring writer. Paul Cornell and Brian Wood were the best canidates but DC pissed them off so they are at Marvel now. How about James Robinson on Green Lantern and Ketih Giffen on Green Lantern Corps? (Assuming they throw out the other 2 GL books)

If they aren't going to pick me, and it looks like they aren't, then put JMS on it. Fuck it and give Dollar Bill a ring or something. Let him loose.

Yeah, I'm not too fussed either with the continuity thing. If they are going to keep all the books going, then surely there's space for them to go in a wildly different direction with at least one of them.

The collaboration with Jeff Lemire is surely just continued collaboration since he's on Justice League Dark, not something new. Between Animal Man, Justice League Dark, Green Arrow, Constantine, Trillium and the odd anthology contribution, I think he's pretty busy.

Layman has said he is focused on Chew and Detective and wont be taking anymore jobs

Plus he's got Mars Attacks at IDW.

I don't even give a fuuuuuuuuck, you've officially had the worst idea in the history of Comic GAF. Congratulations!

I'll be tempted by Promethea. Alan Moore plus JH III's art? It's a steep blind buy, but it'll be damned tempting..
Promethea is literally one of the greatest comics ever made. Is your favorite writer anyone other than Moore? This destroys that guy. It's like Hickman's FF ending merged with Gillen's JiM for like 10 issues in a row. It's like three All Star Supermans in a row. And it's finally in "widescreen" format like it was supposed to be.

It's also a big, BIG slap in the face to anyone who bought the three Absolute Prometheas because they were not in widescreen format.

The first half of the book is really good, and then it turned into illustrated Moebius strips as Alan Moore lectures to you about magic theory.

Promethea was a trippy read when I was getting it in monthly floppies. By the end I had no idea what the hell was going on but did enjoy the crazy layouts, art and mood.

I wonder if it'd work better collected as one big read.

Promethea is nowhere near as good as Grant Morrison's Zatanna Series

But Alan Moore is the only person who writes good comics.

This sounds like something a non-comic fan would say

Honestly Rick remenders captain America is ffaarrrrr superior to snyders batman in terms of both storytelling and shock value. And as a DC fan growing up u never thought I would be saying captain America is better than batman,

After hearing a lot of GAF praise for Prophet I finally managed to check it out and I enjoyed it, specially the first three issues (21, 22 and 23).

I decided to check out the past issues since people said the first run (until issue 20) was published some 15 years ago...and I thought "I should know something about this guy, I'm reading comics for a long time now, how a come a fun book like this one slipped unnoticed?"

Then I learned that this guy (I remember this shitty guy!!!):

Prophet_1.jpg

Is this guy:

Prophet_21.jpeg

I checked the trade again and lo and behold in the credits: "Prophet created by Rob Leifeld"...how come I didn't notice that at first?
