OGs is like 10x more interesting to me because they can actually do stuff with the lore whereas most licensed SRWs are limited to remixing the story and maybe tossing in some different connections between games. They've gotten better with the overall storyline recently hence the Z series. So I'm expecting more as they go through the OG titles.

I'm very anti-OG so whenever the OG stuff comes up my eyes just glaze over. I understand the whole concept of SRW of course but the OG stuff just feels like crappy fanfiction.

Take Z2 for example, you have like world destroyers like Guren Lagann and the Gundams around but crappy Firebug units have such great stats that they can easily get beaten.

Of course the appeal of SRW is the fanservice and getting to watch how the SRW team twists everyone's stories to fit. I just never felt it was more important compared to the fun of watching them blow enemies up.

Has a Gundam every actually destroyed a world? Like, the most I can think of is Wing Zero taking down those Space Colonies.

Anyway, watching Gundam 00 has killed what desire I might have had to play UX. Shinn Asuka AND Setsuna F. Seiei? No thanks.

Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice, along with the Akatsuki, took down an entire army. Wing Zero blew up humongous space colonies by itself. The recent Gundams have basically had god characters piloting them by the end. OG characters being better than the series I do know and care about kinda felt like self-insert fanfiction to me.

Well yeah, but it takes less fire power to take down a fleet than blowing up a planet. I know Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Wing Zero are god mode, but like, I just didn't know if anybody'd blown up a planet.

Apparently the mecha in Rinne no Lagrange can do that, though.

I hope they add Rinne in the next SRW but I'm not holding my breath. Its been years and there's still no legit SRW with Mai-Hime :(

Also, Guren Lagann could probably blow up a planet if Simon wanted it to.

Yeah, considering they were hurling galaxies in the end, I'd believe that.

Man, Rin-ne and FMP are my most wanted games for another SRW, and I just know I'm facing disappointment with those desires.

I'm holding out for Star Driver, personally :p
Need some fabulous in my life. This and Rinne could actually work really well together.

But a new FMP appearence would be REALLY nice, best cast scenario being an adaptation of the original novel or Sigma. Full story + anime voices and music... A man can dream.

And more Lambda Driver and the Laevatein. I've heard that the author even described Sousuke's new mech in SRW terms.

Hey, 00 sucks from S2 on, but Setsuna is a great character. He's hilariously deadpan and has a cool voice. Plus cool mechs.

Setsuna is like if you took everything that was good about Sousuke Sagara and Heero Yuy out of them and took whatever was left and dumped it into Shinn Asuka.

He's better than Shinn, but only because he talks less.

EDIT: The mecha are cool, though.

Ooooohhhhh so close. You already made your point and then you had to mention Heero, which completely undermines your argument as there is absolutely nothing good or positive to lose in that character.

You'd think this, except that when Heero opens his mouth, it isn't WAAA WAAA WAAA GOD MADE ME SHOOT MY MOM, so I'd say that, comparatively, there's quite a lot to like. The ability to not ruin a scene by opening his mouth is desired, and lacked by Setsuna.

Woaaaaah

Considering that UX is good, that is awesome.

Although, that does make me wonder if some of the UX plots aren't going to be finished in UX? I'm still pretty early in it.

*edit* actually looking at the source page it looks more like a typo. It's in the area talking about already released games and under SRW UX. I think they mixed 2nd OGs and UX together. Don't think were getting a sequel, at least not this soon :p

Would be a bit odd if there was a UX sequel, wouldn't it? Unless there's some dangling plotlines by the end? Anyone finish the game yet?

Would also be kinda odd to make a sequel to a game that begins with two endings to Gundam series.

Well, to be fair, they do actually keep a series in a game, even though they might have finished the story in a previous installment (see any series that multiple installments, aka the original SRW games, Alpha, or Z). Although in all those cases, they do at least try to leave some sort of plotline open to visit in a later installment, so its easy to figure out if a series is getting another installment.

Aww man, the Something Awful LP of SRW W is behind a paywall now, and I'm not a big fan of MNeidegard's translation. Are there any others out there on the net?

It happens every once in a while, in less than a month it should be readable again, unless it's so old it requires archives access by now.

Magazine scans floating around of another SRW title for the PSP? The series list seems to be particularly crazy, I have no idea whats going on anymore. So I guess it's some kind of downloadable/episodic experiment.

According to Siluconera, it has mechanics from the Wii game, Gurren Laggan, and Sgt. Frog mixed with a bunch of Gundams, which looks like an interesting prospect, but episodic would mean navigating the Japanese PSN, I guess?... Tricky, but nice to see some experimentation, at least...

At least it's not a card game.

Gundam 00 movie can go fall in a ditch. Give me Gurren Lagann, Full Metal Panic and Rin-ne and I'll be happy.

FMP with glorious Z series visuals would be nice.

Never seen Lagrange but it has mechs so it's probably good.

Gundam 00 movie is the only thing I can safely categorize as laser porn. It only makes sense to include them in the last game for more beam spam goodness.

It would be stupid not to put 00 movie in Z3, yeah.

FMP would be nice, but I think they let their best chance to include it pass, the terrorism/guerrilla warfare theme of Z2 was the best time to do it.
Considering what they did in UX with Linebarrels manga version, I wonder if they'll eventually get around just adapting the FMP light novel so we can get the full story... Heck they can even use Sigma as a base for all I care, if they insist on adapting a visual media.

Aquarion EVOL and especially Eureka Seven AO are probably big contenders for Z3, considering the original series were in Z1 (and Z2 for Aquarion) and they do whatever they want with the dimension jumping and whatnot.
As far as recent series go, I suppose that Lagrange and Star Driver have a decent shot... I'm kind of hoping they won't bother with Gundam AGE.

What other recent mecha series could be included?

I have no idea. I haven't watched any mecha shows recently so I'm not up to date on what could possibly be included.

Just the logical stuff, 00 movie, maybe EVOL, continuation of shows not finished in Z2, etc.

I can see Unicorn happening, kinda. Since the Z team went back to their dimension, they could make it so that CCA happened off-screen I guess. It would definitely be less jarring than SEED inclusion in Alpha 3.
But depending of when Z3 is coming out, they might not have the time to do something with it, since episode 7 only comes next Spring. Unless they use the novel as a base for the latest parts, but that would be weird.

Just thought about it, but if they keep Macross Frontier people in Z3, it would be really nice if they managed to include Macross FB7 too. Not a whole lot happens in that thing, but since their story is over it's better than having them doing nothing, and it's a good opportunity to
get rid of thy lord of brokenness Nekki Basara. They can play the whole "Basara is dead" card and make him come back in the later stages... With the new song mwahahahahah.

The way the Z storyline is setup, they can pretty much put in whoever they want. We know there are more Zodiacs left, and more than likely, in some other different dimension that isnt from Z1 or Z2.

So things like Unicorn would be possible, because in a different dimension, they can just say that ZZ and CCA happened (wouldnt be able to happen in the Z1 dimension, because its Zeta New Translation, and that pretty much retcons everything after Zeta)

What I would LIKE to see is them just put in multiple versions of different characters just for the hell of it. Like Mazinkaiser Kouji and Shin Mazinger Kouji, or Shin Getter Ryouma with another version of him.

I mean, we know its possible, there's already multiple versions of Renton from Eureka Seven, although they never put them in the same game, so it wouldnt be much of a stretch.

We had a mini SRW discussion in the anime thread and I thought it'd be more fun to bring it up here.

What's the most mismatched ability/seishin list for a unit ever?

2 that comes to mind is in Z2-2 when the Guren Mk2 is an S size unit with really high mobility but Kallen has the Guard ability and a super robot pilot's seishin list (Iron Wall and Fortitude). The other is Lacus as the main pilot of the Eternal. She has freaking SEED. The Eternal will never ever dodge anything. There was no point.
