So GAF, what is your experience with drugs?

Forgot to contribute my experiences:

Marijuana - Pretty standard, I smoke it on a semi casual basis. It's my favourite drug.

Coke - Didn't do much for me, it's more of a status drug for sure. The high doesn't last that long and for the price you pay, it's almost never worth it. You have to mix it with other things for it to be effective - usually alcohol.

Ecstasy - This would be the drug of choice in the 60's Free Love era. Very enjoyable high - makes you love everyone. I did it with a group of people once and after partying with them, we all woke up in bed spooning each other. I didn't have any overly negative side effects on it. Would do again.

Mushrooms - Changed my life. Serious. First time I took it, I was at a very low point in my life. Mushrooms literally inspired me to turn it around. It's almost like a born again experience.

LSD - Similar experience to mushrooms but the hallucinations were much stronger. Would have had a life altering experience if I had tried it before mushrooms.

I had pot brownies for the first time a couple months ago. Yes, I had too many. I had tried smoking weed before, but either I didn't smoke it right or whatever, didn't really get very high.

I was out of commission for two days. On the way up the high was alright, but once the full amount that I had ingested hit me, I could barely move. I spent the next 6 hours or so (at least) laying still, hallucinating with my eyes closed, having an honest to god conversation with myself in my own head. Whatever corner of my brain that was still sober was explaining what was going on to the rest of my brain and trying to talk him through it, trying to get him/me to relax, etc. And there I was, listening to the entire thing.

Finally at one point I was able to fall asleep and slept a good 12 hours or so, and once I got up my head was kinda foggy and slow but I was able to open my eyes, talk, etc. Moving was still very slow and my body still felt really heavy. I was only up for another 6-8 hours before going back to sleep. This time when I got up, my head wasn't really foggy anymore although I still felt kinda sluggish moving around. I didn't go to class that day because I didn't feel safe driving a car. For the rest of that second day I gradually felt better and better until the next day I was pretty much fine. I didn't feel completely back to normal for at least a couple more days, though.

haha, yeah that shit can give you a serious trip.
Best trip i ever had was after taking a LOT of shrooms. That was just... insane.

Worst trip i ever had was on a bit too much LSD. And the problem was that it seemed to go on forever. It's not that time is still relevant in any way at that point. An hour can seem like a day.

If you take enough mushrooms, the hallucinations will be insane but much more organic than LSD.
I agree on Coke. Never worth it, though it does make you feel like a king for a short while.
Expensive and in the end the most boring drug to get addicted to imo.

If it grows from the ground, it's A-OK to me.

I've used marijuana and shrooms fairly often. Marijuana more-so.

These are very enriching experiences, even if you feel you're "just fine" without them. You probably are, but you're "just fine" without travelling, and "just fine" without any cultural insight.

I think everyone should try shrooms once or twice.

I didn't inhale.

But seriously, I bought weed from a friend, smoked it in my room one night by myself. It was hot and I had a fan on a stand up against the bed. I was so messed up that I thought that the vibration from the fan against my bed frame was my heart beat racing out of control. I was freaked the fuck out for a good hour. I'd smoked many times before, that was my last time. I think he dusted it with something. Don't talk to that guy anymore. I hear he has a really great dent pulling business.

Well, back on topic. I have a lot of experience with various otc and prescription drugs, including narcotics of varying degrees up to and including fentanyl and a couple benzos. I currently take 14 pills a day, not including any otc pills I might take for heartburn or inflammatory pain, or any precription pill I might take for breakthrough pain. Current scrips include a narcotic, a muscle relaxant, a benzodiazepine, an anticonvulsant, an anticholinergic and an antidepressant, among other things.

I've used plenty of caffeine for most of my life...quit it for awhile in my mid-20's only to get back into a hardcore caffeine habit after becoming a parent. ;p

Smoked cigarettes in high school, then quit for many years only to start up again during a bout of depression a few years ago. Been on them ever since; they can be of use for anxiety-related issues, but I've made some progress in those areas over the past few months and I'm considering dropping them in the near future.

I only smoked pot a couple times in high school and didn't think much of it. Got on medical marijuana a few years ago and I am now a huge believer in its medical benefits. Now that I am intimately familiar with it, I think its legal status here in the states is pretty outrageous. There is no justifiable reason for it whatsoever. I grow my own these days, and utilize it by vaping, inhaling, imbibing, ingesting, etc. I am a daily user.

I had a brief period years ago where I drank an inappropriate amount of alcohol, though not for the pleasure of it. I've never really cared for the stuff. These days I rarely touch it due to all the other medication I am on.

I've only ever tried one hallucinogen - psilocybin (shrooms) - but I enjoyed it enough that I wouldn't turn down another in the future. I'd love to try psilocyblin again.

Never done anything else illegal. Never illegally injected any of the narcotics I've been prescribed, though I have abused them in the past by increasing my dose or inhaling them. Nearly killed myself on one such occasion. I don't do that anymore.

Bullshit. There's nothing wrong with a little toke at the end of your daily routine. Tons of your bosses and teachers and other fully-functioning adults are living like this right now: they just don't tell you about it.

Daily can be an addiction. I also hate those people because they constantly "brag" about weed and talk about it so much. No one cares.

I don't drink anymore but I alcohol is the only drug I ever consumed. And caffeine if you want to count that.

The most note worthy thing I can think of is that i've done DMT about 5 times.

I never was the same again...but in a good way.

Before this is closed, MUSHROOMS!!!
No more but when I was younger. An incredible experience every time.

Oh btw a friend died of a Coke overdose at 23.

Weed is great, but you shouldn't smoke it. There are healthy alternatives like vaporizing or baking with THC butter.

I wish THC beverages would be as popular as alcohol is. The world would be a better place.

So basically your only experience with marijuana is the blatant users who literally advertise that they smoke it.

It's like someone said "videogames" and you starting talking about gamers with manboobs who don't shower and play WoW all day.

It's completely out of touch, dude.

I'm a regular weed smoker and I've done shrooms 3 times. I want to try LSD and that's about it. Won't fuck with the harder stuff.
Edit: Also, I tried ecstasy once and it was awesome.

I would definitely like to try DMT. Problem is I'm not in tune my my local drug community anymore so I have no idea where to get it. Being an adult can be shitty when you want to try more exotic drugs.

Alcohol-Yeah, but I don't drink much and I don't like to get that drunk. A nice buzz is good for me to be more social. Fuck hangovers.

Cigarettes-A few times when drinking, but I can't inhale that stuff, and I hate how it makes you smell.

Weed-Been getting a medical card for a few years now, smoke every week. Nothing like chilling with a joint and watching classic Simpsons. Plus you feel fine afterwards! Win win!

OTC-If I'm sick, then yes. I'm a little bitch with headaches so I always take extra strength even if I have the slightest headache. Also, taking aspirin before going to bed you wake up feeling great.

Caffeine-Yeah, don't drink much soda/energy drinks/coffee much.

Acid/Shrooms-I'd be down to try them.

Salvia-Just a couple times. Smoked it once, waste of money. Ingestion I felt nauseous all night and the room kept spinning. Terrible.

I used to experiment with a fairly broad sample of recreational drugs. Psychedelics/Entheogens (LSD), Ketamine, and Entactogens (MDMA, 2C-B) were my favorites. And cannabis is what I have the most experience with over all. I think it was appropriate for that part of my life but now I'm a Buddhist and I don't intentionally take anything that negatively impacts mindfulness, so the furthest I go is caffeine or maybe a glass of wine at dinner time.

No, I've come across tons of weed users who don't brag but they don't use it everyday. It's excessive. I wouldn't smoke, I wouldn't drink, I wouldn't eat fatty foods everyday.

Man, some people definitely become psychologically addicted to it. The same way people can get addicted to internet porn and shit. Thats not to say weed is bad, but for some people, it does become part of the way they live and if they dont have it, they fiend for it. They wont have seizures or shit like that, but they'll desperately want to get some.

I wouldn't say thats anything to worry about, though. Anybody can become psychologically addicted to a good thing if its readily available. Like with anything, 'in moderation' and you're good.

Its stuff like coke, crack, painkillers ranging from Vicodin to heroine, and amphetamines and methamphetamines that you REALLY need to be careful with. They all make you feel incredible in their own way and its normal to want to do it again, but these will hook you, both physically and mentally, far quicker than pretty much anything else and you can end up addicted before you know it, literally. I've seen it happen so many times. Considering everything I've done, I'm proud that I've come out a non-addict.

Dude, wtf? How is that possible? Could you seriously not function without all those drugs? Hell, what about the cost? That's got to add up.

Yeah when I was fucked up I was there maybe 6 hours or something but it really felt like days. At one point, I literally struggled to lift up my eyelids to look at the clock since I expected like 3 or 4 hours to have elapsed since the last time I checked the time and it was only like 5 or 10 minutes.

As for other stuff I drink every now and then. Maybe 6-10 times a month during the summer. 3-4 times a month during the semester. Winter break fluctuates. I don't drink lightly either, like going out and just having a beer or two. I'll at least get a decent buzz, if not plastered.

Other than that, I avoid normal pain relievers like the plague. I had a doctor teach a first aid class once and I always remember him telling us about how he avoids giving medicine to his children if possible, something about their bodies learning to better fight it off without the meds. I only take them when I really need them, which is to say, when I'm hungover as hell.

I've never smoked cigarettes and never will and caffeine makes me sick so that's about it as far as drugs for me.

I would almost think its better to be an adult to get something exotic like that. As a kid, I never heard of DMT being around, but always wanted to try it. Its not exactly a 'street' sort of drug, ya know?

I dont think I'd do it now, but I would have liked to have done it when I was younger and more care-free just to experience it.

Smoked weed and drunk booze...

I've quit the two habits for two years now and my life has become significantly better...

But that's just me...

Dude, wtf? How is that possible? Could you seriously not function without all those drugs? Hell, what about the cost? That's got to add up.

They aren't all unique, to clarify. I pick one to try to wean off every few months...typically doesn't work out real well.

The diagnosis of my chronic illness might be about to take a dramatic shift...if so I expect to drop several of these and hopefully swap to fewer, more effective drugs.

And yes the total cost is ridiculous just like the rest of my medical bills.

Yeah of course, but as you say.. that's true of everything. Who isn't "addicted" to their smartphone, for example? It's only a problem if it's a problem.

I'd say people who "wake and bake" before school/work are impeding their progress (cause they'll be stoned :p), but those who limit it to the evening, after work, when they'd normally just be watching TV or whatever? There's simply no problem there.

General advice about LSD: Clear your schedule. As one of my friends said: "You aren't getting other people's shit done on acid." It lasts fucking forever. About 10 hours for me every time I've taken it. And time starts being a prick too, so it might seem like forever.

Other advice: Get a lot of music. You thought you liked music? You don't know SHIT about music until you've listened to your favourite albums on acid.

Just Marijuana and Cocaine. Both are awesome but even more so destructive. I am pretty much staying clear from both these days.

There's a difference between bragging and just saying you smoke weed.

We're discussing a strange fringe character, at this point. A minority among marijuana users, but the only visible marijuana user from afar.

You could bring up nearly any subject, and anyone who brags about it would be a douche.

I like movies, but movie nerds are annoying. But what in the hell does it have to do with movies?

Yea, but daily use does significantly increase the chances of it turning into a problem. People who do it every 2 or more days(voluntarily, not because they cant find any!) are rarely gonna be 'stoner' types.

Weed on a weekly basis, unless of course I don't have any. It's a great way to finish the evening. Chills me out before bed, and it's great with friends.

Why is it such a common belief to think that shrooms are OK but LSD is considerably worse?

Is it because psilocybin grows naturally? Le sigh.

Shrooms are no more dangerous, at all, than LSD.

Alcohol is comsumed in moderation.

I had marijuana a few times and it's just pretty uncomfortable to me because it makes me feel like I'm in a lucid dream. I just feel locked inside of my body.

I guess the litmus test is "when the bag runs out, how fine are you with that?"

I've been smoking in the late evening for awhile now, but I quit for two years just to see if I could. After that, I'll never be under the illusion that I "need it". I also have a gf from Japan (where they take the ban far too seriously), so I don't do it around her. When she's around I might go days without it and I simply don't mind. Though I would probably smoke nightly, if not for her, because I like it! But I simply know that I'm not particularly psychologically addicted.

The main point is that, even at that daily level (evening, after work smoking), it just doesn't affect life performance. Sometimes I become less goal oriented in my late night videogame-playing time, though :p

But... you ARE locked inside of your body. ;)

I've done a bunch of drugs. Probably more than most on GAF. 2012 is going to be very lite on drugs besides booze though.

Acid is the best drug.
