Media Create Sales: Week 53, 2015 (Dec 28 - Jan 03)

I likely think that sales will be low for both products cause DQB is a good idea (as it was #FE) but it's badly executed

I would say P&DxMario was also a badly-executed good idea that should have sold considerably more.

I can see DQB selling less than 500k now that we know more about it, but I don't think there's any way that wouldn't be a disappointing result. If they expected less than that, then what was the point of mixing such a popular IP with such a popular genre?

I guess we will get announcement of DQB2 couple of weeks after the launch of DQB and it will have multiplayer lol. Actually it's going be interesting see how DQH2 does compared to original Heroes. OP:pW -> OP:pW2 kind of drop or lower/higher ?

Muramasa: The Demon Blade: 23,900 / 45,825
Muramasa Rebirth: 39,248 / 78,253

Muramasa (the original) sold pretty damn well through a budget re-print (42,808) according to Geimin, so I do think it's a case of Vanillaware as a whole just receiving more and more word-of-mouth about their games as time goes on, leading to bigger audiences.

That's what I'd say as well, yeah.
It really helped once they started getting some decent marketing support.

I think we're seeing the growth of a underrated studio with good software; so these upticks are to be expected as word of mouth spreads. Its a good result and good to see in the industry.

Does hurt that the new release is much better than the original 2007 game.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
in japan, the 3DS is actually having a good fight. it blew past GBA a while ago and just passed PSP and is gonna beat PS2 before it's discontinued. the only dedicated gaming devices higher than it are original GB's combined sales and DS sales.

it's the west where the 3DS really fell. it's telling when the 3DS is still millions away from catching the PSP and GBA's total sales when it already passed their JP sales; especially the PSP which was supposed to be strong in japan and dead in the west.
That's an informative perspective. Thanks.

Not bad. It's holding good at COMGnet.

incoming predictions from Splatooners of 2+ million :p

I think some are going to be in for a surprise for the first few weeks of 2016 on how well Splatoon will hold even through the post-holiday collapse.
Maybe the holiday push and advertisements increased WoM significantly. Mario Maker is doing pretty well too. There's probably a lot of people buying the Mario Maker bundle along with physical Splatoon. Wii U saved. ;)

Well, there's a 7:1 population disparity.

Not only that but lets compare new people buying each system, it's just natural that unless Wii U was doing 3DS like numbers there is little chance of MK8 showing of as much legs. It's probably doing 500-1000 on a good week which I'd say is quite alright for this time in it's lifecycle on a console in Japan.

Rakuten Books Ranking Week 1, 2015.

03./01. [3DS] Rhythm Heaven The Best +
04./02. [3DS] Monster Strike
05./05. [3DS] Sumikko Gurashi Omise Hajimerundesu
06./04. [WiiU] Splatoon
07./06. [PS4] Fallout 4
08./13. [3DS] Yokai Watch Busters Red Cat Team
09./12. [3DS] Yokai Watch Busters White Dog Squad

EDIT: As stated, Rakuten also has other retailers. This is Rakuten-only based. For example, Splatoon and Yo-kai sell much better because Joshin Web has more stock than Rakuten itself.

Meh, the Pokemon Company would have been worried a few years ago if mobile games were their only problem. They seem ready to tackle this issue, but that's certainly not because of Yokai Watch (for mobile I mean, not as a whole).

Is it possible M&L can sell its first shipment? maybe not

Afaik the game hasn't been cutpriced yet. I think this month gonna be very tough for the game, so retailers maybe are expecting it to sell the most possible at that price, and when it can't, do a proper cut in order to sell more units.

It used to be a joke that Youkai Watch was hurting Pokemon, but I wonder if there isn't some truth to it.

I say let them fight. Level-5 has to keep up their efforts with Youkai and The Pokemon Company has to stop resting on their laurels.

While this is undeniably true, I'm not inclined to draw any conclusions from a half-arsed Shuffle port.

If it's looking like this when Go comes out, then we might have something to talk about.

Hey Chris, I found a discrepance, in one list Cube sales on month 28 is 380.494, in the other 391.494. Can you check what's the right number?

Oh nice, didn't know it was on vita. The game is awesome on PC!

the game will be available also on PS3 and PS4 but only Vita got the retail and limited versions (preorders for the limited closed on Dec.25 and it was available only online on three different shops)

I also bought Vita TV during winter holidays so I'm ready to fully enjoy this game as it deserves :)

PS : Darius should have been already released in western countries iirc, but just on PSN

Well done Moor :)

I will always support retail releases, latest games I bought were SEGA 3D Archives vol.1 (3DS), Hot Line Miami (PSV) and Shantae (3DS)

I'd like to buy Assault Suit Leynos but I don't have a PS4 yet, other games I have on target are the Kunio-kun on 3DS and Furai no Shiren 5+ on PSV

Sales-Age Genius
This is perfect because I've been trying to input the hardware at least, but I only got up to mid 2011. You saved me a lot of work. Thank you so much!

Hardware is the easiest part, like 1% of total work and the first thing that intrigues someone. When I started caring for sales (DS Japanese boom back in 2005) I was interested only in hardware.

Compiling software was the real challenge.
