When I see a good thread title, I now enter the thread hoping the first reply is not great, so I can actually read replies about the topic.

eh, it's not like everybody ignores the OP. The people praising the first post probably wouldnt have commented otherwise.

I vaguely recall a thread in OT about a "time traveller" (a woman in an old black and white photo using what appeared to be a cell phone), where the first reply was Doctor Who complaining about his companions being careless. That one was pretty good.
