LEGO |OT6| We Only Build in Black. And Sometimes Very Dark Grey.

I love the speed champions line.

I got the new Ferrari f1 car and it's a quick build. I like how the car number sticker goes on its own block so you can change it between vettel's or kimi's car.

Except the set only includes a Vettel. There's no way that's Kimi. The minifig is smiling.

...Dang. Was trying to plot out an order from the Lego online shop for the Batman bonus, and I've been trying to minimize what I was effectively "losing" by trying to hit close to the limit with stuff I wanted. The easy ones for me were the Artic Roller and the Clayface, as I'm definitely getting those, but that left me about $10 short. But then after some browsing I saw/remembered the little $10 mini fighters Iron Man/Thanos that has that awesome little Infinity Gauntlet car, and figured that was perfect... Until I realized that despite effectively lining up perfectly, the little "$9.99" penny off stuff meant that's $0.03 short.

I do definitely also want the Joker Lowrider, but I've been hesitant to throw that in since it seems to have been around the $10 off region on Amazon now and again. Either way, this'll take some thinking on how I want to approach this...
Edit: Actually, I could do the Robo Explorer set... Hm...

0.99 bad cop keychain is great to get over the limit.

Yep.
Didn't even realize I wanted it till I saw it. And the character they used has a unique ability that could open up some really fun gameplay options too.
It took me a few moments to actually realize who the character was. I've seen the
first Matrix
movie a few times but beyond that I really don't have familiarity with it. Without context the cameo and associated abilities were confusing.

Oh man, I just made myself sad. There's plenty of "I'd really like this franchise to get an official Lego line" stuff out there that I've of course contemplated, but... I just realized how amazing a fit (at least IMO) classic Mega Man would make for, and that is never, ever going to happen. Maaaaan, that would be cool, though...

0.99 bad cop keychain is great to get over the limit.

Thanks for this. May go with that, though either way I'm going to sleep on it and think this through one more time before setting the order, at least.

HOLY FRAKKING PARTS PACK!

I ordered the new LEGO Chess set just for parts. After all, it is only $55 for 1450pcs. I looked over the parts inventory on Brickset before ordering, but they don't list all the parts.

They don't show that it comes with 8 dark grey 16x16 plates. And they certainly don't show that it has 12 each of 1x10 and 1x12 grey bricks.

But the real gem is that it has 96 of the brand new corner SNOT bricks in tan.

The only newish parts it is missing in bulk are the 1x2x5/6ths SNOT bricks like Brick Bank had, and those 1x1 pyramid pieces introduced in Nexo Knights.

If you are into MOCing and salivate at handy new parts each year, this thing is a gold mine for the price. I was happy just having bulk in some things from this, but having nearly 100 of those new corner SNOT pieces in one relatively cheap set makes this a fantastic purchase.

EDIT: And oh, all that bulk of white and black 2x4 bow pieces. I knew that going in, but it is glorious to get so much at once.

I am extremely curious as to what properties are gonna show up in Dimensions Year 3. Year 2 already has so many Left Field Oddball choices like A-Team, Mission: Impossible, Goonies, Beetlejuice, ET, and Knight Rider. What else does WB have access to?

Lego Ninjago Movie is obvious
More DC stuff is also obvious, isn't Justice League out next year or something? Wonder Woman?
A new Fantastic Beasts set? Maybe round out The Magnificent Trio with a Ron Fun Pack?
King Kong?
Marvel? Star Wars?
Finally give us the rest of the goddamn Wizard of Oz characters?
Steven Universe?
Futurama?

If Year 3 is the final year for Dimensions I'd like them to revisit some themes they've already done to give us the remaining characters from certain things, like Adventure Time, Harry Potter, Sonic (Tails and Knuckles Team Pack please!), etc.

There's a certain property that shows up in Lego Batman Movie that would make an EXCELLENT Lego game world but I cannot imagine it ever happening and am really shocked that it was even in the movie to begin with. Super unfair tease there ):

I don't know about access, but they could always work something out, like with Ghostbusters.

Disney's properties could be huge, maybe they could even set up a Roger Rabbit-type crossover event with Looney Tunes?

As for more nostalgia bait, my top wishes are Karate Kid and Neverending Story. Maybe they could also do Princess Bride?

Which part are you talking about with the snot corners? The L shaped tiles?

Also what's the set number for this?

I am pretty sure he means the 1x1 tan brick that has two snot studs on adjacent sides. The new modular has a bunch of them in the rounded area above the bakery.

It is that piece. You can see that it says 96 pcs next to it. Bottom left corner of the pic he posted.

I might need to get this set.

My Amazon order arrived today with the Catcylce and Clayface. Built the Catcycle during my lunchbreak. It's a fun little set with a cool bike, but I am glad I've got it on Amazon for 20 euro's, as the recommended price of 30 is way, way to much for what you get.

Not only is the price/part ratio over 0,20 (granted, you do get some exclusive prints, and even the printed 2x2 slope has a spare), the builds are very small. There are 3 figs, but only Catwoman is exclusive (well, I think she is). I am glad to have the set though, as it fits right into my LBM set-up, and it's nice to have a little building as a background piece in such a vehicle heavy theme.

I also felt and grabbed to CMF's today. Finally got the Glamrock Batman. Changed tactics and felt for the shoulder pads in stead of the guitar and had succes. I thought I grabbed Catman to, but that turned out to be the whale guy. Still baffles me how I've could've felt that one wrong. Well, I'll make a kid happy with it I guess, as now I have two of him.

"The Last Jedi" sets (which currently stands at a total of seven) will be available September 1st, as part of this year's Force Friday event.

As for what the packaging will look like:

VrL2CJ8.jpg

Of course it will maintain standard LEGO packaging as well, so the clear window section will not be present.

So Jang is reviewing new stuff and there's Minecraft and Speed Champions stuff I want too, in addition to Elves. Luckily it's mostly as parts packs, so they can wait a bit.

Interesting.

New sets are up on amazon

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Marvel Super Heroes, new Star Wars including Y-Wing, and more

Link to new sets sorted by date

Looks like they ship Feb 17th.

Prudent to wait for sales but I have like a $100 in amazon credit and getting them next week would be kinda cool. Don't want Milano jr. unfortunately Ravager set with Yondu and baby groot is march 1st. Eyeing Detroit Steel, Ms. Marvel set, small Gotg set with Mantis and Y-Wing.

I saw it yesterday on the front page of reddit, at the time it only had 4000 votes but 12k upvotes, made me laugh as if everyone who upvoted had vote on ideas it would have passed by then.

One comment on the thread made the likelihood sound low of it passing though as apparently hasbro has the license and already makes Kre-o ones?

KRE-O have official D&D sets and named figures, nothing that I found from a quick search of modular dungeon. If LEGO went generic medieval themed or teamed up with Pathfinder, it could be doable. Right?

Wow that Phantom II price in the US, I'm jealous.

Yeah, i remember people were complaining about the price on that one, but for $30 US it seems reasonable.

Really like the Milano from those new picks too. The pink monster thing looks great, and I love how all the characters can be crammed into the cockpit, haha. Just a bummer I'll have to get another set if I want Rocket Racoon too.

Also like the little Yoda Starfighter. Good price and I don't have a Yoda or R2-D2 minifigs yet..

Rey invoking Qui-Gon there.

Coincidence?

of course it is

Rey letting the hair down, looking more feminine, just to piss off the MRAs when she kicks ass twice as hard as any of the men in the film.
Their tears shall give me strength.

Aside from the role being perfectly cast (all three heroes seem to be perfectly cast IMO), I can't thank Disney enough for giving my daughter a kickass female Jedi. Maybe it was just to sell stuff, and fine if it was, but I appreciate it anyway.

I know that there is a new MOC contest up in the regular Off Topic, but the next one would be a ton of fun if it were using these sets:

LEGO Creativity Boxes. Only $5.

Extremely limited number of pieces, but an interesting variety. They are also dirt cheap.

I am probably going to pick up the whole series, just because the limited nature of the pieces is inspiring.

It looks like new machete mold (zoomed pic, right side)
Also I don't think we have a plane cockpit without nose cone right now.

Jaguar, venus fly trap and tarantula spider were already discussed
