Sweet! I hope you'll post a report somewhere, if you have the time.

Also, Capcom updated its list of million-sellers (as of December 2015). Financial results for Q1-2 2015/16.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate "above" MH4, but both are at 4.1 millions.
Monster Hunter X at 3.2 millions.

SFIV 3DS at 1.2 million?
Oh, nice! I remember seeing it was only up to September. Thanks for the heads-up.

Edit: Resident Evil 5 has reached 7 million, overtaking RE6...thread worthy? Anyone?

RE5 has always been above RE6.

EDIT: The RE releases on Gamecube really tanked.

RE4 - 1.6m
REmake - 1.35m

To give some perspective, one is a Remake and the other was released at a time the infamous "series fatigue" was taking over until 4 landed.

Not to mention, what type of incentives Capcom got out of the Nintendo exclusivity deal?

Now RE 4, would be classified as underperfoming. 1.6 vs PS2 and Wii 2 million. However, a Capcom executive threw a monkey wrench in the machine when they announced the existance of the PS2 version before the GameCube release.

31./30. [3DS] Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Square Enix) {2015.08.27} - 2.039 / 875.893 (+5%)

Immortal.
Well it did surpass Neogaf expectations.

Maybe it's even in the 900k level with the Digital version. Does Square Enix bother to announce when a game passes a million these days?

Also how fast people in this thread think that RE: RE 2 will surpass Revelations?

IIRC the game often appeared in the lower part of the chart. It's selling fro 1650 yen on Amazon. Did it sell the initial shipment?

If it's only the price Bravely Second sells for less but it's not at the charts. Extreme Vs. soon will be gone and you won't see it again.

This was Dengeki's first week.

01./00. [3DS] Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition (Gung Ho Online Entertainment) {2015.04.29} - 178.525 / NEW <50%>

The game's definitely past 900k since it sold at least 34k units in its first month on the eShop.

Oh, of course bargain bins are not the sole reason why the game is still charting. The game fits an audience the tend to buy over time, contrarily to jRPGs.

Apologies, for intruding in this exchange. But i find it interesting.

So what does it mean exactly?

Compared to the sales of first release on the 3DS it was a significant failure. However, impressions here where that it could even end up costing money since there was a chance that the first shipment wouldn't sell, since it seemed to hit the bargain bin early in it's life.

So the opinions here are a bit different now and in the end the release is kind of vindicated in some way?

Finally, what type of performance is expected for the next game? It seems there's more effort put into it this time than a basic re skin with a different IP.

The game went vastly overshipped, and retailers had to slash the price to sell the remaining stock. This happens all the time - but not all games in bargain bins keep charting months after the release. Therefore, if the game is charting is surely thanks to a super-low price, but it is also due to its nature as a game for everyone, and kids especially, which help legs (the Mario name doesn't hurt either). Surely the game is not a success and GungHo overestimated its potential - I can totally see the next iteration as an eShop game for a few bucks. As for the new Puzzle & Dragons 3DS RPG, it will of course sell less than the first entry but might still be able to catch the 400k mark (we don't know much though).

Minecraft's success in Japan has really been pretty amazing. I wonder how much more ground it'd have covered if the 3DS was capable of a legitimate version.

And yeah DQVIII is having unusual legs (I noticed it was also back in the Top 50 on Amazon). It's really odd. I don't remember DQVIIr hanging around that long.

Now it's time for DQIXr.
Probably for the next generation. I mean VIIIr was churned out pretty quickly IMO.

10ish years seems to be on par for these kind of things.
Yeah, so I'd expect IXr probably around 2019/20. I mean after IX they have basically run out of games to remake (X is MMO). I don't know why VIIIr felt quick to me, I suppose it's because it was in the same generation as VIIr. I expected it on another generation of hardware.

They will start to make collections, or starting to remake them again. For example, DQI-II-III with VIIr graphic engine.

Konami released Taisen! Bomberman for iOS/Android recently (#1 in the download chart currently)

Well then, there we go, the demo did have a good affect on sales. :p

Makes me wonder what the shipment was.

That's also why I covered my assessment in the last thread in conditional statements.

There was always the possibility this is more in tune with what the local market wanted given it's - at least to my knowledge - the first major building game developed in Japan.

Of course, it still does have the issues with the price tag for sustained Minecraft legs. And this rise in demand is hard to actually gauge without nationwide information and information on the size of the stock. It may do well to sell through its first shipment, though, or it may just be that some stores sell through their shipment.

From the way the Maya report is worded, it sounds more like tepid DQ fans got turned around on the demo, which actually lines up with Penny's expectation that the title will predominantly find its successes in the IP than in the Minecraft/Builders part.

SMT4F is pretty explicitly "More SMT4", and between the userbase and number of similar games so far, Naruto doesn't surprise me either.

;___: I clarified above! I was trying to say *just* a little better than DK, and worse than SMM (b/c it was the next highest-selling Wii U game that came to mind at that moment)....
