The Avengers #4.1
Twists! Turns! Action!

Nah. It's nothing special, but it's about to be done so whatever. This all just some set-up for an arc in the core Avengers book. Also Quicksilver: Eternal fuck up.

The Uncanny Avengers #20
I could easily read a mini-series with this trio. Oh my god are they great. This whole issue is great. This whole book is great.

This book is that book that reminds me why I love comics.

Inhumans vs. X-Men #5
So we can see a few things here that are interesting: Emma is clearly bloodthirsty. She no longer cares about saving mutants, if she ever did. She just wants to beat the living hell out of the other side (as evidenced by her being more than willing to fight young Scott). We also finally get to see Havok take the field, though I have to say it was rather disappointing. I feel like this has been a recurring thing with his character. That he steps up to confrontation, and then backs down. He doesn't really do anything. And maybe this is a result of the Inversion, but regardless, he's empty threats through and through and it's irritating.. Good fights and this event maintains its quality overall. Really looking forward to the end.

Extraordinary X-Men #19
I feel like there is a really good story marred by an event. Like, when is this fight supposed to take place? Is this supposed to be happening AFTER IvX #5? Because it seems lime it, but according to the reading guide, it occurs BEFORE, so that doesn't make sense. Whatever. These tie-ins are almost over with.

I'm really looking forward too the end of Inhumans vs X-Men and Unworthy Thor, both have been fantastic books with good-to-great art.

I'm also excited for I Hate Fairyland starting back up again, and the Inhumans prime one-shot, all the upcoming Inhumans books look fantastic and I can't wait to get a preview of them all.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE STOP ALL THE TOP TIER COMICS? I CAN'T HANDLE THEM ALL!

This is a pretty strong issue. On the surface, Doom's interaction with his mother is pretty intense, and I especially liked "I'm not convinced I'm not" in response to being Sorcerer Supreme. The big reason it's so important to Doom's character is because now we see him doubt himself. He has a desire to prove his power now, as he believes he failed saving his mother, and now he's ruined Dr. Perera's life, which he's determined to fix. A resolution that seemed particularly cold.

There's also a very interesting potential lore tie-in to another arc if this really is a Reed Richards, it's probably the Maker. If we all recall, the first arc of Ewing's New Avengers had him attempting to communicate with the afterlife. If he succeeded, then this may mean he pulled Doom's mother from the afterlife. If that's the case, then the why becomes extremely intriguing.

Captain America: Steve Rogers #12
This issue was exceptionally mindblowing. We get some interesting revelations here. The two biggest involve Elisa Sinclair. The first being that Steve was apparently ordered to kill her, and now we see that she's actually different from Sin. Originally we all assumed that she was just Sin written into Steve's memories in a believable way, but now the Madame Hydra reveal seems to indicate that she is, in fact, a separate person. A separate person who is commanding a separate Hydra faction, I might add. And further more, if Elisa is a separate person, then who the hell is she?

The second big point is Selvig's noted, where it's revealed that he knows that Steve's memories have been rewritten, as well as Zemo's. It really begs to question if Zemo's memories were also rewritten, or if he's playing along. Selvig even makes mention of this. It's here that we can see Steve's plans are at a high risk of being exposed.

Damn fine comics.

Black Panther #11
This was a pretty okay issue. I mean, there's action. We get to see the rebellion fall apart, though we'd already seen that. We see the big counter T'challa had for Tetu's group (some Talk no Justu up in here). But my big problem is that there's no sense of scope or scale. This book worked in its conflicts for the most part because they were small. Surgical. But this fight is supposed to be a massive siege, and it never feels like more than a game of Team Fortress or some shit. It just feels like a skirmish with a lot of talking an narration. It's not exciting and there's no energy to it. And then that ending...what an okay ending. I guess Shuri leads Wakanda with a full council. And Zenzi is still out there.

First issue that I really felt was average. Also nice almost one-for-one ripoff of the Zemo/Black Panther scene from Captain America: Civil War.

Hulk #3
This is pretty much a plot issue. We see that Jen is severely isolating herself at this point, but beyond that the focus is all on this Brewn plot, something I'm not really interested in. Creepy ass apartment building, though.

We're on similar wavelengths to all here. Steve Rogers is an amazing book and really chilling.

Sorrentino is working on Secret Empire. I'm curious to see what Marvel puts him on afterwards though.

Okay, so this issue bugged me. A lot. Why did Shiva care if the Colony couldn't get into Gotham? Batman stopped it, and he has no interest in pursuing the LoS. The Colony was the biggest threat to them. Why bother going after Batman? Seems like going out of your way. Why would those cops believe Batman killed the Mayor? Seriously? It just seems a bit contrived. Also did Batwoman actually talk to Superman in another book, or did they just reference a made-up scenario?

I do appreciate the focus on Cassandra, and the acknowledgement of how strong she is. I'm also a fan of the reference to The Batman. And Shiva's return to and older design rather than her awful New 52 design. Thank god that trash is gone.

Justice League of America #1
Well shit. This book is chaotic as hell and it works. Weird choice for a first threat, but it fucking works. "This team is a powder keg," and with that line this entire issue is justified in everything it does. From the spreads, to the dialogue, and the pacing itself. Everything id a chaotic mess. Everyone is everywhere, and they're all on edge. Frost could kill them, Lobo's an asshole, Ray and Choi are inexperienced and don't know what they're doing, and Vixen and Batman are struggling in a co-leadership. Dinah's just doing her part. And when the finally come together, then BOOM!

Fucking great book. I also wanted to point out how much I love Batman's eyes in this. Terrifying and inhuman, yet trying to lead a human team. Brilliant.

Supergirl: Being Super #2
So this is definitely mood whiplash from the first issue. The heavily tragic nature of this issue, and dealing with grief, greatly contrasts with the more upbeat nature of the first issue. Her power fluctuations aside, it's a very human issue.. There's a strong sense of family and the closeness of those around you so far in these two issues. How they can help you through certain times, whether it be growing pains or tragedy.

That said, I'm really intrigued by this coach. She's certainly not who she seems to be. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out she's tracking metas, and gave those three the fitbits as her prime suspects. To track them. Kara makes mention that her interaction with the coach at Jen's funeral seemed weird, and Dolly points out how it was only given to those three, and no one else on any team. Something's up.

Still a strong book. Tamaki does character writing well. And JoŽlle Jones does good art.

And Hydroman!

You know, for kicks and giggles. Plus everyone knows how to judge a good artist by their water.
