Tl/Dr: Who cares if you play the new Deus Ex games, the original is the only reason the series is so highly regarded / legendary. If you are looking for a cool modern gaming experience, new Deus Ex will work but you're still missing out on what Deus Ex is. Wait and play the original when you're in an old-school gaming mood.

fully agree. Playing deus ex without ever playing the original is forever missing a big part of the meaning of the series. You don't have to start with it if you dont want to, just try and make sure you get there eventually. The original is still wholly unique even in this day and age. The gameplay hasn't aged well but the degree of choice is unmatched

The engine means nothing. Deus Ex 1 is still the same glorious game it always was. Its better than pretty much everything today. Especially when compared to the pieces of mainstream checkbox AAA shit we have today that people mistake as good games. This is how actual good games look like.

Use the GMDX mod and the small clunky things that are because of its age dissapear and you have a game where the shooting feels better than regular FPS games of today and the AI is better than Human Revolution and Mankind Divided combined.
