Any list of websites that had data stolen recently?

I just got a random £80 transaction my debit card which bank is giving back, but just trying to figure out how my card details got out.

Don't recall seeing any sites which store credit card details getting hacked.

I imagine VG+ still has an issue with peoples card details being stolen if you put your details directly on the site - that's been an issue for a good number of years now and they still haven't sorted the issue. Either they're lazy or it's an inside job.

Based on previous experiences Rise of the Tomb Raider honestly feels like one of those games that will get over shipped in a competitive market and will be forced into price reductions fairly soon after release to shift stock. More so since it is a latecomer to PS4.

I feel it will be at least £25 somewhere before the end of October

Yup, the last one and DE bombed quick and hard. I can't see pro modes and VR keeping this any higher for longer.

I think you're right. It'll probably even be ~£25 digitally on PSN over christmas.

Yep. I'd reckon retail £29.99 by thegamecollection and similar around start of November, under £30 everywhere by end of November, £20 - £25 by start of December and then £20 via PSN in end of December sales.

I want the game but I've waited a year and this October is stacked. I can wait.

I am super happy with my thegamecollection order : the game was shipped like half an hour after I ordered and I received it 4 days later.

I think I've found my new favourite UK based site

Picking this up for sub 10 in a few months.

Just got an email from TGC saying they won't be shipping out WWE 2k17 until at least tomorrow due to the fact they aren't getting the stock until tomorrow meaning it will be Wednesday at the earliest before orders are delivered. This is for the PS4 version unsure if Xbox One is affected as well.

They are offering £4 discount codes to make up for it.

Sounds like some companies are sick of them sending it out early. Think Simply Games only got theirs in today too.

That said, could just be a distribution cock up. My NXT edition hasn't been shipped yet.

If they don't want copies out extra early then worldwide releases should be on Fridays.

If you're doing a Tuesday release that needs be dispatched on a Thursday or Friday to allow 2-3 working days delivery with basic shipping, and if some areas get Saturday mail or managed it by Monday, well that happens.

This 'don't dispatch until Monday' shit some games do sucks, since Monday dispatched mail is more likely to take the 2 days than a Thursday or Friday dispatched one due to Mondays being a busier day for mail centres.

Or you'll get your game a day late

It's not the end of the world you know

It's ridiculous to set a release date then put rules into place so that a large portion of consumers who pre-order expecting it day one...which they constantly tell you to do, cannot get the thing on the release date.

"Pre-order and get it on release*"

*not on release

Friday releases aren't the end of the world either.

Yep, that sounds about right - TGC are the pinnacle of online game retailers right now

Thanks for this! Ordered it. 12 euros altogether with delivery to the mainland, but still worth it.
You're welcome! I hope that you managed to get your order in before their expected delivery date got pushed out too far.

And to think, I thought that my copy of £15.50-ish a month ago was well-priced!

Why even pre order at all at this point in the year?

Every single game released in coming weeks will see big price drops fairly quickly

agreed, been 3-4 years i last pre ordered something. Most especially in UK, price drops all the time.

But the point was if you are going to pre order, you should get it on release date

Mostly true - COD and Battlefield I expect to hold their value pretty much until after Christmas at least, everything else I'm expecting to drop steadily

Maybe in some years, but not this year in my opinion.

Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, and Infinite Warfare are all released so close together they will cannibalise each other's sales and likely result in drops of all three to move stock

Throw in the "Black Friday" sales that seem to be an annual UK thing now, and the fact outlets will compete with each other, and all three should be in the £20-£25 mark within a month.

No games are safe!

I do realize a month is a long time when it comes to playing a multiplayer game with friends though, so maybe it is not worth the wait for everyone.

I'm only getting gears 4 on release because Amazon were selling it for £35 and I'll probably get my money back in cash from cex if I can finish it by the end of the week (doubt I'll bother with mp).

Otherwise yeah, sub £20 or bust for 95% of games. I'd rather get 3 games for the price of one and I get a more polished experience and often free dlc.

there's also the Zeitgeist aspect of playing on Day One, the heart wants what the heart wants sometimes

I agree though, it's a good year for being smart and waiting for a short while

Paper Mario: Color Splash, Pokémon Sun/Moon, and anything else Nintendo will choose to release will beg to differ!

Only the Sith deal in etc etc.

Don't think I've ever pre ordered a game tbh. But I definitely would if there was a good deal on a game, like there sometimes is in the UK.

I doubt I'll find Gears 4 for less than 37€ soon. Or Pokemon with the steel book for less than 35€

Plus it's hard to resist to the hype

Titanfall seems like it will bomb but I don't see Battlefield dropping below £30 for a couple months. I got BF1 ordered for £37 so not much of a saving vs wait.

Waiting isn't always good, for example anyone who waited for Uncharted 4 to drop would have found the MP already turned to shit. Some games you gotta jump on day 1 if you wanna enjoy the MP before it dies/turns to crap.

Not that I expect BF1 to do that, BF MP stays healthy for years.

It's not often I pre-order anyway, but when I do I expect it on time. UC4, RE Origins Collection and BF1 my only pre-orders this year. UC4 was late.

Does anyone have any experience of using Boomerang Rentals?

Their 4-games-at-a-time-including-new-releases package sounds quite tempting at £13.99 a month, especially as it says you can keep the games as long as you want, but it sounds too good to be true.

I would avoid boomerang. They had a data leak last year and denied it. And as they do not accept PayPal, I would seriously recommend avoiding.

I can't really speak to the data leak. I had no issue with my card and got a boatload of freebies afterwards. They use Sagepay at present if that helps.

As far as the service goes, it's exactly what it seems. I've been using them for years without issue. Games are for as long as you want, I had Omega Quintet for friggin' ages because I kept forgetting I had it. I've got Mafia 3 on the way tomorrow. Delivery is usually the day after dispatch and anytime I've had an issue they've sorted it quickly.

Personally, definitely recommended.

Fuck Boomerang. Because of them I was not able to pay rent the month they got hacked (I got cleaned out). It was a huge toll on my mental health and they denied everything. They do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Do you need four games at a time? I mean, it sounds nice, but two games would probably be fine and you'd enjoy both more without feeling the pressure of having to rush them.

But yeah, data leak, loads of customers' money stolen, and then completely denied it and continue to to this day AFAIK. Their response was about as bad as it could have been.

Did they use Sage Pay when the hack occurred? They used the Sagepay gateway when I bought something from them so I can't imagine an hack on the site would cause peoples cards to be stolen now.

The fact they denied all that stuff is really shit though. Don't blame anyone for not wanting to do business with them anymore.

Barring the above hack issue - good service if you don't buy many games and have a wide variety of games you'd be willing to get.

I did briefly try it but it just wasn't for me. I'm kind of picky so it meant I was waiting a while for games to be sent because the stuff I did want were niche games which they just didn't have many copies of.

Situation Update: Boomerang Rentals – 13th January 2015

What happened

On Friday we were contacted by a customer who was concerned that a fraudulent charge had been attempted on his credit card, and he was worried that our system had been compromised. He quoted another person who had made a comment on Twitter of a similar issue.

What we did

We began an investigation as soon as additional concerns were raised. Credit card data is stored in a strongly encrypted format and not viewable to any internal staff, however, at that stage, we felt we should take the concerns seriously.

Over the weekend, we noticed other people online reporting similar issues and we became increasingly concerned. So, based on the information available at the time and conscious of the concern, we made the decision on Sunday afternoon to take the site off line while we continued our investigations.

Where we are

By Monday morning, we had been contacted directly by a small number of additional customers. We contacted the fraud department of our merchant bank, but they knew of no issue. We also contacted our payment gateway provider and they also had no concerns. They are assisting us in a consultative capacity.

By this time we could see lots of people talking about this online, but only a few people had contacted us directly.

To date we have not found any evidence of a breach of our systems. We are continuing to investigate and continue to take this issue very seriously.

We have also made the decision to very quickly move over to a token method of payment which obviates the need to have encrypted data on our servers, to give our customers further reassurance.

We would not ever wish to be the source of customer card information being compromised, so are making this change urgently. This work will take about a week, and we have removed the card details in their encrypted form, from our on- line system, and are removing the facility to update or provide card details until the work is complete.

Subscriptions will be processed daily each weekday morning under further supervised controls. Once the new system is in place, we will be able to collect payments through the token system.

We will also investigate the possibility of introducing PayPal as a form of payment as well, to offer our customers further choice.

What next

First we will start to process incoming and outgoing rentals. Then, once we are satisfied that our investigations are complete, we will bring our website back on line so existing customers can see their rental lists. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers while this work is undertaken. Once everything is running again, we will be back in touch and will include updates at that time.

Finally, we would like to re-emphasise that we have not found any evidence of a breach in our systems (our systems were regularly tested for vulnerabilities by a 3rd party specialising in this) but our Engineers and Technical Advisors continue to investigate.

We are aware of the interest and concern this situation has raised and care about our customers and our reputation greatly and are urging our customers to get in touch with us immediately if they have any concerns.

We will shortly be sending an email directly to each of our customers.

I'd stay away form them until 'recent events' calm down.
