Attack on Titan Season 2 |OT| NO MANGA TALK

Damn it's been a long time but I'm glad it's back! This shit better be hype as fuck, because season 1 had some of the best "stand up and yell at the screen" moments ever!

This will easily be the second best anime of the year (My Hero Academia season 2 is gonna take the top spot and you all know it).

Also just so we're clear: OP 2 > OP 1

It feels like 84 years. I'm not sure I care anymore. I do remember loving the first half of the anime. I hope I can get back into it.

12 episodes? that's really short, I don't even know if they can complete the next arc in 12, I guess they can if they blow throw some of the slow parts in the arc, but a lot of shit goes down.

They definitely can. Female Titan Arc was covered almost entire in the last 12 episodes of S1. This next arc has the same amount of volumes. So I guess is safe to assume that they might follow a season per arc structure.

Only problem with this one is where to end it: the Cliffhanger of Chapter 50 or a Bitter sweet ending with a bit of Chapter 51?

That was a long ass wait. Can't believe it's been almost 4 years since season one ended. Excited for the premiere, and hope it's as gripping as that of the first episode.

That whole shitfest is one of the reasons why the production committee structure is horrible. It's also strange that anime are apparently produced with a very short timeframe nowadays. Afaik, US cartoons have at least nine months ahaed of airing. Giving something like that to anime studios would solve some problems, but it seems like anime shows now have to be churned out to promote the new hot manga. This is fucked up.

Titan was my gateway anime. That whole stuff started for me with this show in June '13. Gave it a 10/10 because I had never seen something like that before. I will never forget seeing episode 5 for the first time. That whole second half of the episode was a transformative experience for someone like me who hated everything about anime, because my preconceptions were that anime was nothing but shounen fighting (because that was literally everything that was shown in Germany on TV) or porn. Booooy, was I wrong. Titan may not be as good as I rated it, but without it, I would probably never got into the medium. So yeah, Season 2 is like coming home after a long journey. It's just too bad that I won't stay home for as long as I expected.

It's going to be excited to see who survives. One of the things I loved about this show was the relentless deaths of characters you loved. In other Shounen characters rarely die outside of as a important plot device; In Titan I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I worry that Elvin Smith and Levi are going to die in a future episode. I like those guys and don't want them to die.

Eren, Mikasa and the whiney guy, where not my favorites at all. I liked many of the surrounding characters a lot more.

Titan was my gateway anime.

Me too man! The last time I watched anime was some Toonami stuff when I was 11, and it had been years since I had even thought about anime. Some friends of mine got me into Attack on Titan (and Psycho-Pass) and I was totally hooked!

I wish this was 24 episodes but at this point I'm just glad it's coming out at all. Thinking about how much my life has changed since I watched season 1 and it's making me realize just how long ago it was.

It's a shame that with how slow they're putting out this show, it'll probably be a decade before they catch up to the current manga chapters.

Let us celebrate by listening to the GOAT anime OP:

I hope that so many animes change their themes cus it's often a downgrade.

The original AoT theme was one of the rare intros that I wouldn't skip cus it totally got you hyped up for the episode.

Did not realize it was a lower amount of episodes. Sucks, but the manga is great, kinda sad that the manga will be done for years before the anime is over.

2nd OP was >>>> 1 OP
What I did remember was neither the sequence nor the song for OP2 being anywhere near as exciting (I say this as someone with not a whole lot of attachment to the show in spite of some cool moments). Having taken the time to rewatch it...I remembered right. I'm going have to continue to disagree, no matter how many times anyone insists otherwise.

Here's hoping they can at least knock it out of the park again with the OP/EDs like they did last time (both sets were good).

Also better pacing, a strong production, Mikasa gets a character beyond "LOVE EREN", Eren chills out a bit, etc.

What even is "OP"? Opening?

I watched the live action movies drunk on a plane once. They obviously diverged from the anime but I'm wondering if The Big Truth at least is the same? Or is it a totally separate thing?

I can't believe this is 12 episodes. By now that fucken basement's probably gone to college, met another basement, settled down and had a couple little baby crawl spaces. That basement's kids are shaving.

And give the thing the same shitty pacing as the previous series, yay...

First season pretty much lost me by the end, but I'll give this a few. Glad to see it's at least only 12 this time, that first season stretched things out to a hilarious degree.

I really did love those first seven or eight episodes, though. There's some alternate universe version of this where Eren stays dead, Mikasa is the lead, and it kept being about normal humans versus impossible odds/monsters.

I prefer OP2 to OP1 but neither are really all that great. The Ending themes are far better across the board especially Great Escape.

Just thinking on the way that I was abused by the cliffhangers in the first season. I think I'll pick it up half way through June. I've waited years. What's 2.5 months more?

Perhaps I'll rewatch the first season. 2 episodes a week.
