Insane. Yes, the Rams will absolutely trade down. I don't think there is a single player in this draft worth that.

LOL pretty much what I expected. Its worth it if he is who we think he is. Athletic like Vick, better character, pass first QB, no glaring negatives. Fisher and Shanny are friends. I'm sure Snyder knows full well how marketable a kid like RGIII is and is whispering in Shanny's ears how much he wants him. The stars are aligning for this trade.

Yeah you're betting a lot of your future on one player if you give up that. Going to laugh if/when this happens and if/when RGIII doesn't live up and sending Redskins into more mediocrity. Remember when Ditka and Saints gave up an entire draft or close to it to get Ricky Williams lol

I actually think he could be fantastic. I am higher on him than on anyone I have been in a long time however...he is simply not NFL ready. In three or four years he'll be one of the best QB's in the league if he gets into the right situation (let him sit and learn, assholes!!) but could be an abject bust if forced to try and carry a team right away.

Flynn is unquestionably ready to play right now. Does he have the same upside? No. Does he know how to run an NFL offense? Absolutely. If you can get him for a second instead of trading a few years worth of picks for a project I'd do it in a heart beat. Every year there is "the next great QB" so they can go get him next year.

I'd be okay with trading a haul for RG3 now that his vitals came out and he's not small as shit as previously feared. Get him then sign a young WR like Mike Wallace or maybe even DeSean Jackson to spread the field and be a deep threat (and resign Fred Davis and hire him a babysitter) and the offense will be looking good.

In hindsight of course, but there were red flags on Rick and Leaf that teams wouldn't overlook nowadays. A friend of mine was a cop in Austin while Ricky was in college, and the cops used to find him passed out in his car at stoplights. They'd just call the athletic department and keep it quiet.

Leaf skipped a bunch of team interviews before the draft and put on weight pre-draft. The Leaf pick and trade was so bad it has pretty much killed the legacy of Bobby Beathard, who clearly didn't do his homework on the off the field stuff

If RG3 fails, it will be b/c he can't stay healthy. He had a knee injury in college and is slight of build

The Rams have the #33. They can definitely use that and whatever they get from the #2 pick to move up into the late first and grab their WR.

You've been around Snyder too long.

My line of thinking is that there is like a better than 50/50 chance that Shanahan and Allen would blow those pics anyway, so better to package them all and potentially get a franchise QB in place for the next regime (that will hopefully fare better)

Also you laugh at DeSean Jackson, yeah he's a dumbshit, but who cares? All he has to do is run in a straight ass line. And you underestimate how shitty and old the Redskins WRs are. DeSean would sadly be an improvement and I think he and RG3 (who throws a nice deep ball) would make for a good connection.

My gut tells me that RGIII is going to be great. I would love to have him on the Broncos. Tebow would have to play RB, but I think it would work out.

the problem with the Saints giving up that much for Ricky Williams wasn't that he wasn't a good player, it was that he's a RB, and you don't give up that much for a RB. Personally I wouldn't give up that much for any one player, but if you're going to make it a QB or maybe even a stud, franchise LT. Ricky Williams could have been the second coming of Jim Brown and it wouldn't have helped the Saints win a Super Bowl if you have no other picks to improve the rest of the team.

44 bench on him, too. Haven't seen the other numbers as of yet but he looks to be having a good combine.

My hope is that teams reach for QB's (and WR's) like last years draft and it pushes some of these guys like Cordy Glenn and Poe down.

Poe next to big Vince...One can dream.

To be a little bit fair to Ditka, at the time the position was way more highly valued than it is today.

Poe is a bull and a workout freak, and all muscle. I'm worried that his monster combine is going to shoot him up on draft boards, but apparently he's very raw and a bit of a project, not to mention too tall to be a natural 3:4 NT.

Still...

Damn at this area today what is up. 20 min west of me was the school shooting and now a bank robbery in this town. Both small towns as well

Those stories (that one specifically) was also pretty widely reported at draft time.

Same friend worked security on 6th street and was part of group of 20 cops and bouncers who tried to subdue Tony Brackens as he went on a rampage when he got kicked out of a bar for doing something to a waitress. No charges and it never hit the Austin papers

I personally observed Dante Hall sitting in the back of his own Dodge SUV (don't remember the name of that thing), by himself, watching porn and eating Jack in the Box. This was in the parking lot of a house where there was like a 300 person party going on. It's amazing what the sports world was like pre-Deadspin

The thing is, all/most of those stories got back to the NFL scouts. It's funny to go back to read post-draft stories and see how guys said things like "I can't believe he fell, what a value!" then see that it was some guy who turned out to be a total ass hole. The only difference between then and now is that the public finds out as well.

Leaf, Williams, Todd Marinovich...all these guys were well known to have significant character issues. Teams just didn't give a shit.

Rumors around the twitterverse is that Brandon Carr is the big target for the Cowboys in FA. Expectations are that he will sign with them for big money.

Depends on the behavior, but I think it could also be hard to figure out what is just young college guys acting stupid and what is something to be seriously concerned about. I bet even guys who turned out just fine did some fucked up shit in college.

Oh definitely, but it's not like these guys were out doing this stuff in secret or that the internet is suddenly changing the way guys are drafted. The only difference is that now we all know why a guy fell, as opposed to having to guess.

Ronnell Lewis from OU will perform amazing, and he physically is like Lawrence Taylor. But I'm not sure he can even read. He couldn't play full time b/c he couldn't understand the defense, and it was always a battle to keep him academically eligible.

That's why God invented linebackers.

Sounds like a perfect "always be edge rushing" guy to me!
