The mother is trying to be sensible and all but her sense is rooted in bigotry. Why can't she accept the boys preference and just try to give her son information that'll lead to a safe sexual relationship for him and his partner?

It's definitely wrong to perform sex on underage beings and its even more dicey when both parties are under-aged. Parents should take a more active (and none-judgmental) role in helping their children navigate these paths.

Sorry. I was trying to make a few separate points that got all mushed into one:

Parents should teach their kids proper discrimination-free sex education
All creatures of mature age and consent should ba allowed to be in relationships
There is a proper end to public and government in the personal matters of people as long as the matter is within reason.
We should try not to impose our species-based biases on others

How does an animal give consent? you can perfectly groom and train them to act as if they not only accept it but seemingly want it. That's no consent.
