Lets hear ONE of your favorite vocalists

I'll have to go with Matt Smith as one of my current favorites. Incredible range, power and control. Seems refreshing after being forced to listen to radio stations at work where auto tune is the theme of the day. Such a lack of passion in a lot of the current music scene.
What do you think?
Song title :Ghost

Mike Patton is gonna be posted so many times that I don't need to get him in here this early.
So I'll go with D.C. Cooper.
Here's a vid of his vocal range: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ocuBEowcfo4
My favorite stuff from him is his work in Silent Force but his solo album is killer, here's the song "Within Yourself" off of it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OoUD07YL9tM
Here's "Six Past the Hour" from a Silent Force album, with some spectacular screams and falsettos: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ5Q6-WrY4I
There's a reason he was a strong contender to replace Rob Halford in Judas Priest before they went with Ripper Owens.

Patrick Stump's voice is fantastic, I love listening to him sing. Especially since a lot of pop punk voices sound pretty poor live.

Tommy Karevik of Seventh Wonder: https://youtu.be/LfwNF8DTJ3M?t=1738

Also does a good job in filling Roy Khan's shoes in Kamelot, but I've always felt his voice is perfect for the moody songs of Seventh Wonder. Not my favorite singer, but definitely reaches the top and deserves the mention.

Freddie Mercury

Not even a massive Queen fan but damn his vocals are amazing such a great performer entertainer etc

Song: literally any Queen song

I prefer him to Roy, a lot actually. And while I love SW's music, I prefer the generally lower range Tommy sings in with Kamelot. His voice sounds warmer and pleasing when he is not constantly belting on the top of his range. Also, do check out the latest Ayreon album if you haven't already, Tommy nails it.

this OP post reads like satire.
But uh, i can't really decide, while not a huge fan in general, i really like the vocals of Devin Townsend. Dude can sing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nubJjB95VdY
Someone posted Mike Patton and dude is insane with his vocal range https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y87MeOFqpoA
Benjamin Clementine's voice is atmospheric as fuuck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aslr9B87wPs
Uhh for nostalgia sake, Kyo from Dir en Grey has got one hell of a voice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tW_fOzl2QA
Frank Ocean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE005nZeF-A
Also Chance the Rapper takes the price for having basically the coziest voice in the modern music scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be37-T72DNk

Iunno if i really have a favourite singer, i guess Kyo due to how long i've been listening to them and stuff.

I'm sorry i legit can't pick one oh fuck

There have been a lot of musicians come and gone that both approach & supersede the linked, but I feel that nothing approaches the rawness of emotion that is Jeff Buckley's Dream Brother during the White Mystery Boy tour of 1995-96.

This song continues to capture me in a way that I cannot describe. 100% volume. Speechless.

Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge, Slash, Mayfield Four)

Incredible range and probably the best rock vocalist of the last 15 years.

Examples:
Mayfield Four - Summergirl
Slash + Myles - Fall to Pieces (Acoustic Velvet Revolver Cover)
Alter Bridge - Burn it Down

Special -
Myles joins Disturbed to harmonize for Sound of Silence
Myles joins Gov't Mule for Hunger Strike

Ian Thornley of the Canadian band Big Wreck is probably my all-time favorite. Huge range and somewhat comparable to Chris Cornell. Also an amazing guitarist. The albums are all great as well.

Big Wreck - Wolves
Big Wreck is amazing and I can't believe they aren't more popular in N. America. I guess they never got that "big" break, but they totally deserve it. Love their guitar work as well as the vocalist.

Michael Crawford.

iirc he was the original title character in broadways ‘phantom of the opera’.

His voice used to be so velvety smooth. Kinda reminds me of Elton John and Paul Mccartney where time has not been kind to their voices, but in Eltons defense part of that is due to throat surgery he had in the 80’s.

I'll throw another one into the mix:
Mathias Blad, Swedish actor and singer, of power/folk metal band Falconer has an amazing voice. I dislike a lot of operatic vocals in power, folk, and symphonic metal (besides in Therion, where it just works). Stuff like Nightwish has never done anything for me. Mathias Blad's theatrical vocal work in Falconer is incredible though, his voice just soars. "Lord of the Blacksmiths" was the first song I heard from them and I instantly fell in love with his voice. The band that backs him is super-solid as well, even going back to the black/Viking metal band a few of them were originally in (called Mithotyn).

Here are a few songs, off of their first two albums before he left and then later rejoined the band:
"Heresy in Disguise:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r-OqVYA4htE
"The Past Still Lives On:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SzX2t4iHO38
"Stand in Veneration:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q4HAzhBsseU
"Substitutional World:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pxHoaYy5OV4
"Lord of the Blacksmiths:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FoYSwGNGksQ
"The Clarion Call:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iswq0SWBRFA

Since I'm sure everyone is looking for familiarity in this thread and those who don't find it likely won't look listlessly through this thread. I figured I'd post Dani Filth as my choice

favorite song (NSFW cover art)

lol, I didn't expect it to be that song. The only time I've ever been in a mosh pit situation was to that song at The Beaumont in KC for the Headbanger's Ball '04 tour with them, Himsa, Bleeding Through, and Arch Enemy. My buddy kept urging me to get in and I said "Eh, if they happen to play The Forest Whispers my Name, then I will." That is one of the few songs of theirs that I can still stand to listen to though. I used to be into them but the only song of theirs that I have in any playlists on any of my devices is their cover of Anathema's "Sleepless:" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m5fa-U_2SIA

Jón Aldará of the Faroese Doom/Death Metal band Hamferð. An incredible combination of an operatic singing voice with pretty well done growls. It's quite an experience to see that live.

Here's two live versions of songs:

Hamferð -- Evst (starting with growls)
Hamferð -- Deyðir varðar (starting with clean vocals)

Both songs have both his singing styles (on Evst, he's often changing between them), but maybe someone doesn't like growls at all, which is why I included the second song ;)

I'm not the biggest fan of death metal growls anymore but I'm really digging this. I think it might be because of the doom sound being more prominent in the music. Pretty cool that they are Faroese too; the only Faroese band I know of is (of course) Tyr
(I guess they are Faroese? I know they are from the Faroe Islands but some extremely nationalistic Danes that I worked with while in Greenland insisted to a coworker of mine that they were Danish. He asked if they knew of a band he liked that was from the Faroe Islands, since these guys had done some work there before, and they got real loud and said "Oh, you mean they're from Denmark???" He was confused and explained that he thought they were Faroese and they rolled their eyes like he was some simpleton and said "Yeah, that's Denmark." Still funny to remember it. But I digress...)
.
Definitely cool though, I'll have to check some more of their stuff out, see how easy it is to track down some of their CDs.

My pick, Mike is incredible. Saw him live at Leeds festival playing with Tomahawk and it was mindblowing how fucking awesome it was.

Honourable mentions for me are Devin Townsend and James Maynard Keenan.
