From the same director? Is he not still in prison?
I mean, that's not why the movie is garbage. That's why he is garbage and why I won't support his movies.
It seems to be a controversial idea on GAF, but pedophiles aren't necessarily evil, and the common thinking that they are is what is preventing so many of them from seeking help, because what would people think of them? Pedophilia is a mental disorder. The director did something terrible 30 years ago, pleaded guilty, did his time in prison, completed his parole 25 years ago, and, as far as we know, hasn't done anything since. In a case like this, I do think it's too bad so many people don't think he's worth giving a second chance to. I understand why, but I don't think he's a monster.
This comes out next month and there still isn't even a trailer? That's not a good sign...
It's unfortunate that Clownhouse has one of the most disgusting histories behind it (seriously fuck Victor Salva), because that movie is actually creepy and scary. Thr imagery chills me. It's a great little horror movie.
Wow, had no idea the director was a pedophile, when did that come out?
Yeah I don't know if I can go back and watch these movies now. definitely won't be watching the third one. I don't understand why this guy would ever get to direct a movie and be given a position of power again. Why not get a different record for the third one.
88, Salva was convicted of sexual misconduct with one of Clownhouse's underage stars a 12-year-old boy including videotaping one of the encounters.[6] Commercial videotapes and magazines containing child pornography were also found at his home.[6] Salva pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious conduct, oral sex with a person under 14, and procuring a child for pornography.[6][7] He was sentenced to three years in state prison, of which he served 15 months.[4] He completed his parole in 1992.[7
Yeah. I remeber Justin Long being in the first though.
Seriously. My partner was asked to audition for the lead in one if his movies (the producer basically said it was a done deal). He was so stoked. Then he found out it was directed by Salva. He was crushed and obviously said, "fuck no"Nope.
Fuck Victor Salva.
In typical GAF fashion, everyone just says, "fuck this director," or, "I won't see this after reading his past". But of course nobody links any information and just expects everyone to either know or dig it up. Just like posting a reply on the gaming side with a picture and no description.

Man I love JC2 gave me my fav thread ever http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=991898&highlight=
Why would you knowingly remind people of this?
It's a good laugh

I for one love this franchise. Didn't know about the directors past until recently and I have a feeling that a theater release gets cancelled because of it.

Times are slightly different. While it was easy back then it's even easier for people to rally together on the internet and really make companies look bad. Whatever movie studio is behind this might not want the bad pressif JC and JC2 werent cancelled, why do you think the third one will?
Fuck Victor Salva, pedophiles are past where I draw the line. Besides even if he was truly rehabilitated (which I highly doubt considering some of his films imagery) the fact that the boy was an actor it was on set and he used studio equipment to film it, he shouldn't be allowed on a set since he used one to commission his crime.
I certainly did not expect it to release this year. Amazing news. The first film and some of the second are classic.
Too bad, in my opinion, that the director's past is still preventing people from giving him a chance.

These are hardly even watchable. Victor Salva being a detestable piece of shit doesn't help either. These aren't even scary.

That's the point I am trying to make, same as how people who use computers for big crime can lose their rights to use them even after serving their time and parole and other measures of similar type to keep people away from the methods they used to commit the crime( such as pill pushing doctors losing the right to prescribe at best, medical license as harshest)He can have a second chance in another job one without power or influence. He lost that right forever when he used his power and influence to do what he did.
He isn't allowed to be alone with kids on set. I don't see why he should be banned from ever directing again though. I'll see if I can find the restrictions on him with regards to this stuff. That's the point I am trying to make, same as how people who use computers for big crime can lose their rights to use them even after serving their time and parole and other measures of similar type to keep people away from the methods they used to commit the crime( such as pill pushing doctors losing the right to prescribe at best, medical license as harshest)
Seeing as he specifically used his position and studio owned space and equipment to commission the crime he shouldn't be allowed anymore, especially if he is truly rehabilitated, otherwise it's like an alcoholic hanging out at the bar every night, it may not lead to relapse but it sure ups the chances.
