Japanese Music (Pop, rock and all 'dat) |OT|

This is obscure as hell and nobody has ever managed to help me, but I gotta try again:

The Legend of the Fierce Fighting God Oni anime OVA series from well over a decade back----who in the hell are the group that performed the OP/ED themes and where specifically can I find more of their works and/or incredibly comparable stuff? Sort of a Rock/Metal vibe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi7ZZYCC4Qg Only OP thing I know of
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgTvcnD9_3Y Likewise for the ED.

Bonus obscurity: This same exact question: But for the move theme itself, though it played most prominently during the credits of the cult classic Biohunter? It was almost like some sort of techno calliope music maybe?

Happy to see that a lot of people like Sakanaction here. Documentaly was definitely one of my favorite albums of 2011.

Opening Theme:
"TRY" by Maki Watanabe
Ending Theme:
"HELLO" by Maki Watanabe

From ANN. Not sure how much it helps.

The OP and ED theme music is composed and arranged by Nittoku Inoue. He works at a composer for SCEJ now, he did the OST for Gran Turismo 5 and Eye of Judgement. He has a band too - http://www2.odn.ne.jp/dogschool/DogschoolEnglishTop.html On his Japanese wikipedia entry there's a list of artists he's composed/arranged for -

Haha, glad to see a new the HIATUS fan. Takeshi Hosomi, the singer, is without a doubt my favourite vocalist of all time. Perfect english, amazing voice...

He was in Ellegarden some years ago, but they disbanded.

If you want to discover new bands, just ask me.

Also, yeah, the crowd always goes crazy when Perfume is at Rock In Japan.

^ Too bad Keiko's nose collapsed...

It's really shocking how much she managed to change her appearance through plastic surgery. It really must be one hell of an addiction. She went from this

to this

And Ayu has also managed to become almost unrecognizable compared to what she once looked like due to plastic surgery.

What's with Disney and J-pop lately? First Perfume in Cars 2, now AKB48 in Wreck-It Ralph

However, the filmmakers took it to the next step and got unexpected artists to help. One of those artists will be AKB48. AKB48 will be featured in the video game ‘Sugar Rush’, which is described as a candy-coated cart-racing game in a land of sweets. Spencer said, “We’ve always thought of Sugar Rush – with its nod to anime – as a game that may have originated in Japan. So we went to Japan and got the hottest J-pop group to perform the song that really sets the tone for the ‘90s-era cart-racing game: young and hip.”

Miyavi's new album tracklist revealed :

MIYAVI vs HIFANA « GANRYU »
MIYAVI vs KREVA « STRONG »
MIYAVI vs YUKSEK « DAY 1″

MIYAVI vs HIROMITSU AGATSUMA vs JIN OKI « HANABI »

So... We already knew for Kreva and Yuksek since they were the songs of his two singles.
But, Hifana and Takeshi Hosomi (the HIATUS, the guy on my avatar) ?
I said "Holy shit!!!" out loud.

Well shit, Namie's anniversary concert just got cancelled due to the typhoon. I feel bad for all the foreign fans stranded in Okinawa.

Just finished watching Day 2 of the Rock In Japan 2012.

Crowd went crazy with 9mm Parabellum Bullet, androp, Perfume, BIGMAMA...
the HIATUS to end the day is perfect.

Not so much a day late and a dollar short as a decade late and 1000 yen short, and this sticks out a bit compared to most of what I see posted here, but recently I've been listening to a lot of Minimoni. Just catchy and a little crazy.

ONE OK ROCK's live is just amazing, I've been following them for years (discovered them in 2007) and didn't expect them to sell out the Yokohama Arena...

About the HIATUS, I like how their albums are really different. I know that a lot of people were disappointed because they were expecting them to be "Ellegarden 2".
Trash We'd Love was what everybody wanted.
Anomaly was quite dark.
A World Of Pandemonium was more joyful imo.

I feel like jrock deserves its own thread but nobody would ever post in it. I like Japanese music but mostly dislike all jpop except a few.

UVERworld my fav rock band is Japanese. I love their new single THE OVER. I like it a bit more than the new ONE OK ROCK song.

I'd post a lot in it since the only pop band I like is Perfume.
I listen to 90 different J-Rock bands so... :)

Does anybody else have a mancrush on Gackt? His music is so godlike and very diverse.

Tommy Heavenly6 and Gackt are my two favorite J* performers. M.O.V.E is up there too.

This thread is almost all J-rock. It started as a dedicated pop thread, but people kept complaining and talking about rock.

Is there an instrumental? People go on about how great her PVs are but I can't watch them all the way through because she comes across as incredibly unlikeable and slap worthy.

Watching Perfume's dome show..these girls are ridiculous, like robots they're so polished. Shame the music is just one long ringtone one after the other. Surely they represent the worst Yasutaka Nakata has to offer yet they're the most successful...heh.

I've been meaning to check out the album with Boris after hear their amazing song "にじむ残像" from the Kokuhaku soundtrack.
What other tracks are good?

the whole Rainbow album is awesome
the title track especially: http://youtu.be/l1z0FGxWi7Q
I've seen Wata sing it live 5 times now. so damn good.
depending on which version of Rainbow you get that track from Kokuhaku is the last track.

Boris' Golden Dance Classics split ep is good too.

and Michio's album, Sunset Notes
