Funfair Fever complete. Those stacking dudes caused me the most trouble.

I got the bird down to his tiny with the floating eggshells around him but always arrive when I'm down to 1 HP or something.

Yeah, doing the laser first is mandatory basically. I did it like this: Laser -> Lower body with the planes, then just focus all of your fire on the chest/heart area with occassionally moving an inch down to shoot down any bombs as soon as they appear. Don't use any supers or EX's during the first phase and you can kill the second phase almost instantly by just using your super once. If you don't kill the laser first, it becomes a lot harder. The third phase is where shit gets real if you never play bullet hell games (which I don't).
I don't really play shmups either, but I feel like it's pretty easy to dodge the shots for the final form. Just stay all the way back and move up and down with small movements; just like the second form of the bird.

Can't get this game out of my head. Already beat it and I'll be jumping back in soon for the achievements.

Did people find Cala Marie difficult? Because I was surprised at how easy I found her to be. I feel like I struggled way more with Grim Matchstick.

I'm just curious because I always find it interesting how different people seem to struggle at different parts of difficult games like this. I remember playing Bloodborne and finding Vicar Amelia way easier than other people said she was, but then spending hours struggling against Blood Starved Beast.

Cala Marie only took me a few tries, I found her to be much easier than Grim.

The hardest bosses for me have by far been any of the plane bosses.
Haven't tried Cala much yet. But Dr. Kahl took me awhile to nail that first form. I did not feel bad about abusing the weapon switching with LB. Almost feel like it's required there.

Grim Matchstick was pretty hard but only because I didn't have the weapon you can shoot backwards. He's cake with the right weapon.
Hilda Berg has probably been the longest fight for me. I was having a lot of trouble with her for whatever reason.

I was grateful that the Rat and Dancer were easy.

Finally picked this up, how's the co-up, is it going to make the game too easy?
I haven't played co-op, but I believe the consensus is that it actually makes it harder. Boss health is scaled up for co-op, but I'd imagine that there's fewer things to parry, leading to an overall drop in the DPS:health ratio from the players.

Nice, thanks.

Okay

I don't know what is causing this bug but it is PISSING ME OFF

So I'm playing Cuphead on another dude's account because I'm getting him achievements.

Anyway, I'm playing on PC -- Bluetooth Xbox One Controller -- Windows Store version.

Every now and then, my input gets eaten OR there is insane input lag on the button if I haven't pressed it in a while. This means if I try to dash or jump, it won't work, even though I am holding the X button to fire.

Anyone else have this?

--

gunna try with a 60fps cap and see if that fixes it or *gasp* wired...

edit: nope, not the fps cap... gunna try wired. whatever this it is making the game a little bit unplayable.

i thought she and the bird were strangely easy actually

which was slightly disappointing because i think cala maria is awesome and wanted her to be more difficult

I found the bird mega easy to dodge, but this segment almost impossible (for me). I understand difficulty is subjective but I'm having a really rough time of it.

Achievement runs aren't that bad, I'm about a third way through already.

Maybe I'll start doing runs for money like with Titanfall 2...

It's definitely harder if you're playing with someone else that's not quite up to your skill level. Played it for the first time Tues with a friend, and he kept dying to some pretty obvious things (also doing silly stuff like standing right next to a boss, instead of farther away to avoid projectiles), I'd keep reviving him (and he would be oblivious to my ghost, even when it was right next to him) and eventually the bosses were all killed by me, long after he passed on for good. So I essentially soloed most of the bosses for at least half of their health while their health was scaled for co-op.

Played it later solo, and it was a lot easier. YMMV though if you're playing with someone equal, or above your skill level.

It's interesting which bosses gave people the most trouble. I think I beat the robot in around ten attempts. The boss that took the most tries was probably the bee.

I want to try doing deathless runs now.

Finally beat the game tonight. The last two bosses were trying to say the least, more so dice man just because how annoying it was to die and start over.

Great game though.

Was just watching a stream with someone using the charge shot and wow, that thing is stupid powerful. Bosses don't even get to do all of their attacks. Peopls are really doing themselves a disservice to use that weapon right now (unless speedrunning or something obviously, talking more about the first playthrough).

What about using the charge shot in run n gun stages?

Finished this game a couple days ago; ended up really liking it a lot. It's probably one of the more spectacular 2d games I've ever played, visually speaking. The bosses were super impressive with all the wildly changing forms and insane sprite and animation work.

The run and gun stages were generally less good. Let's focus on the bosses for positivity's sake.

Third phase is hard as hell. I do not / have not played bullet hell games and it feels like I've just been told I'm late for an exam in the class I didn't realize I'd enrolled in. Still stuck on it :/

If it makes you feel better, once you beat it there is nothing else in the game even nearly as hard. That is the hardest phase of the hardest boss in the game. Keep on trucking, soldier.

I really liked the run n gun stages. I just wish there were more of them.

After being distracted by other games for two weeks, I finally got back to this, beat three bosses in isle iii, including train boss, and made it to Casino. Oh boy. Lots of nods to an old genesis game here. So fucking fun learning to beat the train boss and now this first casino fight.

I hate those fucking dog balloons at Beppi, for some reason they can just ignore even my spread shot and the shooting directions being weird makes it even worse. I got to Beppi's last stage a bunch of times but always with too few HP because of those balloons.

I tried using the charge shot but it didn't seem to do that much more damage ?
did i miss something ?

Dr. Kahl's Robot
is murdering me.
You and me both.

I played it for about 30 minutes last night. Figured out how to get through the first part without getting hit, so that's good. Figured out how to get through the second part without getting hit, so that's good.

But goddamn, I have played a lot of games that are close to bullet hell, but my brain just completely fails at the last part. I think the foreground stuff really doesn't help there and that sucks, but I know it's on me.

I can do it...I just have to put all the pieces together.

Oh, and once I beat him, I can finally move on to the end game.

I did the Pacifist Runs backwards a bit. Did World 3, then World 2, then World 1. Man, that made it so much easier lol.

The hardest bosses are King Dice, Robot, Train and Dragon.
Died over 40 times on Robot and Train...

He's a real jerk, that's for sure. Definitely the boss I've had the most trouble with so far in the game (up to the 2nd to last fight currently).

Beat Beppi and are on the dragon at the moment, those jumping flames are a pain to dodge.

The key to dodging those is to jump just as they jump. Most of the time they'll completely miss you.

King dice

Took a little while but, got a consistent plan. Auto Parry makes this a cake because you can choose the rolls easily.

Edit: yay, a rank all done, last boss was real easy

Expert mode isn't so bad -- at least, from an achievement point of view, considering that you don't "need" S Rank.

Time to take a much-needed break, however. Dope game.

How many items you need to buy to "unlock" charge shot on the shop?

I have 13 coins and only have bought the extra heart, invisible dash and the spread shot.

On world 3 have only defeated that Brutus ship boss.
