They're just incorrect. There's a Friends section in the lobby.

The phone app isn't even available to reviewers yet. No idea where they're coming from.

Arms has a metacritic of 77 though.

In any case, im expecting mid 80s for splat tim.
Improves over the original in every way but the incentive for old players to buy again isnt huge.

Interesting thought. Do you dock points off the game for not having voice chat when it's the console that's to blame? I'm leaning towards no, but I could see it go either way for these reviews.

They never actually said that in the review, so they are not incorrect. They said using the app is the only easy way to play with your friends (which likely means inviting friends to a lobby) whereas you can join friends through the system just like in MK8D I believe. Which is not as easy.

82 or so. Not much of an improvement over the first game since it still has weird map rotation limits, and seemingly a lack of content at launch if I've heard correctly.

I'm guessing reviewers will complain about how barebones it is on release and then Nintendo will continue to unlock new maps, weapons and modes (oh and clothes, too!) for the next two years.

Does the Switch even have a mic? I honestly don't know after owning one since launch.

Edit: Taking another look at that Splatoon 2 app diagram, looks like there's no way to do audio in on the console.
