NFL 2017 Offseason thread |OT2| - I Mean Look What Our Teams Did For Us!

Also Android Auto is fantastic

Fucking love that I can now play my podcasts in my car.

Fuck I wish i could get something like that. I have a bluetooth speaker that I charge up and then use in the car. It sucks so much. If I had just gotten the plus version of my car it would have an AUX port in the center console and then I could connect my phone directly to my in car speakers.

Yes they are. Because I have one. Motorola, HTC, and LeEco have all moved to USB-C with no audio jack on their top phones
There are a ton of different android phones out there, but the pixel, the galaxy, Sont, LG. They all have the headphone jack. LG and Samsung even give pretty good quality ear buds with their devices. Better than usual.

I just bought an aftermarket radio that had Bluetooth. So I have Bluetooth audio and a Mic in my old ass car.

Nobody buys those phones.

Pixel and S8 both have headphone jacks.

I know the biggest manufacturers haven't jumped on yet, but I'm just saying it's starting. And HTC and Motorola aren't exactly tiny players in the market. I think over the next year you'll start to see them phase out the audio jack, and in 2018 manufacturers like Samsung and LG will jump on board

Why wouldnt you?

I'm still playing Persona, and I still have like 4 other games I want to start after it so I wasn't planning on jumping on Mario Kart immediately

Or Dion ended up going to the wrong team. We never put into the equation the environment and how that hurt or helped the player.

I am glad the Eagles took Johnson but I'd like to believe Dion wouldn't be the same bust if he was on the Eagles.

It's possible, but even without the multiple suspensions, he failed a physical coming back last year. That's a pretty big red flag. He's with the Seahawks now, if he can't work in that environment I'm pretty comfortable saying he'll bust anywhere

Except I can't anymore because my tape deck is broken. And the radio transmitter version never works because Houston has too many radio stations.

Anyhow, car is too old for me to upgrade the stereo. I'll live.

I have the Google Pixel XL and I highly recommend it.

Not really... Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S8, LG LG6, Huawei P10, OnePlus 3T, XPeria, are the top Android phones on the market and all of them have headphone jacks. They've also all marketed specifically as having headphone jacks.

Some Android phone makers may be foolishly releasing without headphone jacks, but the latest, best phones all have headphone jacks.

Its amazing. I used to have a system with a cassette adabter, a usb bluetooth reciveer, and a phone mount but this is so much better.

I just plug my phone's charger in and I'm all set. I can use almost every app I would have before (except for Youtube, Crunchyroll, and Waze).

I can listen to NPR, my podcasts, tunein for radio stations, google play and Amazon Music, Audible and more.

I do miss some of the features of Google Assistant that for some reason doesn't work in Android Auto but most of the functionality you would want is there.

If I wanted to ask my car to play Big Sean I can now just press a button and boom I can listen to L's instantly.

"The Giants' rest deficit

Overall, the Giants might have the NFL's least enviable schedule, based on ESPN senior analytics specialist Brian Burke's analysis. They'll have an NFL-high four games against teams coming off their bye and a net total of minus-22 days of rest compared to their opponents. (The next-highest lack of rest days belongs to the Detroit Lions at minus-12.)

Here is some analysis from Football Outsiders on how relative rest affects competitiveness. Suffice it to say, you want to avoid playing teams who are coming off their bye.

Finally, the Giants have four trips into the Mountain or Pacific time zones, giving them more travel miles than any East Coast team with the exception of the Jaguars, who have a home game in London."
God damn, Goodell!

Poop. Almost had a chance to go to Texans vs Seahawks but...other people wanted to go and didn't want to give up a ticket.

Damn my team being so in demand.

I think you can do all of that with bluetooth audio in your car as well.

For me the biggest addition of having your car hook up to the phone as that it used your phone map for GPS instead of the car one. Speaking of that I am not sure why cars don't just use Google maps...

Panthers earned their disrespect in regards to the game times unfortunately.

Last year they had the most primetime games in the history of the franchise and in those games they:

Saw Cam get killed by the Broncos and then the kicker choke (speaking of this game, I think its weak of Rivera to be bitching about the schedule makers putting this as the season opener after the fact, but that's neither here nor there)
Took part in probably the worst primetime (non-weather affected) game of all-time against the Bucs
Had the entire team quit on national television against the Seahawks
were boring against the Saints and Washington NFL Franchise.

The fact of the matter is, this team will never be nationally relevant in such a way that they're shoe-ins for primetime.

When the Cowboys are bad, people everywhere will still be more than willing to tune in at 8:30 on Monday/Sunday to see them. The Panthers? Not so much.

As for season predictions, I don't know. They SHOULD be better, but you're relying on a lot of ifs going their way. Does Matt Kalil live up to his potential and shore up the left tackle position in a way that the team hasn't had since Gross retired? Can Michael Oher even play football anymore let alone, be a contributor at RT? Does Jonathan Stewart stay healthy? And if not, is the runningback they draft (and they will draft a RB even if its not their first pick) ready to step in? Will Cam be healthy by the beginning of the season? Will Cam be healthy by the end of the season? Can Luke Kuechly (who's missed 9 games over the past 2 years due to concussions) stay on the field? Can Thomas Davis? Does James Bradberry take the next step? Will someone step up as the second corner? Do the get solid play out of the safety beside Coleman? Who the fuck is the kicker and is he better than Gano was last year?

Panthers will be a lot better now that they're not having a horrible Super Bowl hangover

Falcons on the other hand....

Or is my memory failing me....

It's been over half a year! Now granted they did announce it the same week that the Switch got revealed so it kinda got buried but c'mon man

Their defense was elite but just couldn't match the magic of other super bowl winning elite defenses that had poor QB/offensive play (recently Broncos/Ravens D a few years back).
