Daniel Craig will return as James Bond.

All I can say is go out on a high because it's been disappointing since Casino Royale.

Writers better have something good. I wonder how much advertising they will cram into this last one.

I sure love the business of movie making :)

I think I'm the only person on the planet who actually enjoyed SPECTRE. It had its problems and it fell far short of Casino Royale and Skyfall, but I found it enjoyable.

Best Bond, so hoping he goes out on a high.

I like it. It basically felt like watching a classic predictable Bond film and not a game changer like Royale or Skyfall. The biggest crime of the film was how they handled Blofeld and wasted Christoph Waltz. Surprisingly though this was the one time I actually enjoyed Craig as Bond since Royale.

Cool.

More than anything else I'm just glad another entry is on the horizon, gives me an excuse to do the customary series rewatch.

Hard to believe it's been almost 11 years since Casino Royale, that movie was mind blowing and while I feel Craig's subsequent efforts haven't reached those heights I have still enjoyed them for the most part.

Whatever.

I'm over his run, been disappointing after Casino Royale. He's publicly stated many times how he hates doing it, so why should I care.

I feel like this is a mistake, but at the same time he doesn't deserve to go out on a film as shitty as Spectre.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Broccoli's have learned any lessons, so I don't have much faith in the next film turning out any differently.

People here talk like Spectre was offensively bad, which is pretty baffling to me. I thought it was rather good and, at the very least, had some incredible sequences like the train fight. It was also handsomely photographed; not on the level of Deakins' work in Skyfall, mind you, but not bad at all considering the DP had to follow Roger Fucking Deakins.

He's still my favorite Bond and I've seen em all.

Let's Do the Rankings Bit, Yeah? Yeah.

1) Craig
2) Dalton
3) Connery
4) Brosnan
5) Lazenby
6) Moore

1) Dalton - ruthless, rebellious, romantic. Arguably the best actor to play the role.

2) Connery - the original.

3) Moore - endlessly charming.

4) Brosnan - the ideal one, was given worse than usual scripts.

5) Craig - starred in the best movie of the franchise, CR, but he lacks charm and charisma. Physicality is his only trait, can't emote, only mope.

6) Lazenby - hard to classify with only one film to judge, did his best not to stay under Connery's shadow but producers thought otherwise. Great physical presence (much more credible than Craig) and a few decently acted emotional scenes.

While we are at it:

CR > QoS >> Spectre > Skyfall

Which of the two Dalton films is considered far and away to be the best?

Impossible to answer the question, both are usually considered to be among the best Bond movies ever. Licence to Kill played more to the actor's strength while The Living Daylights is the more well rounded. I would suggest to start from the latter, though you may be put off by the political context (Afghanistan war, Russian are the baddies hence Bond allies with the mujahideen - this happens later in the movie though)

Which of the two Dalton films is considered far and away to be the best?

They're both very different movies, TLD has all the classic Bond elements whilst LTK was unlike any Bond movie at the time and seemed influenced by 80s action movies. I'd put TLD ahead but I suspect that the average Daniel Craig era fan might prefer LTK.

Shame Dalton never made any more James Bond movies.

Is there any articles or anything that explain what happened and why he did 2 movies?

I have seen every Bond film literally dozens of times...I have been obsessed with this franchise for over 30 years. Without question Daniel Craig is the best Bond. And without question Pierce Brosnan is the worst James Bond.

As for Dalton, GoldenEye was originally written for him in mind. It got re-writes to add more humor when it was clearly going to be Pierce Brosnan. I wish we lived in the alternate timeline where we got Daltons GoldenEye.

eh, not clearly as informed as you think you are, aren't you? ;) Take a look at a post of mine a few posts about yours about Dalton's GoldenEye (which was a radically different movie with a few passing resemblances at times, depending on the script version. Actually if anything, due to being mainly set in Honk Kong, it's closer to TND)

Whelp, I wouldn't want my run as Bond to end on Spectre either, even if the movie ended with him quitting.

Filmmakers really need to review how much of a creepy, assholey, rapey douchebag he was in that 2 1/2 hour mess and NOT do that again.

* sigh * Spectre peaked with the opening tracking shot. Then we get a Bond who thinks it's a good idea to jump into a moving helicopter and attack the pilot while it flies over a crowd of people and then we get the lead in to that terrible song. At least QoS knew it had nothing to say and moved quickly. Spectre stretched out nothing for 2 1/2 hours.

Bond has been one of my favorite franchises since I was a kid. I liked the tonal shift and, frankly, what felt like larger budget films with Craig. But I never really liked him as Bond. It's like he understands one aspect of the character very well (the shit kicker, do anything for country), but fails on every other part - at least to me. I'm aware that's more the fault of the directors and writers, but he was Bond while I was watching those films and actors can elevate the writing and direction they're given.

I was kind of hoping we'd have a new Bond. Are they going to stop making Bond films after this?

Hope he goes out on a high note and is given more engaging material this time around. Dude looked like he was about to fall asleep in every scene of Spectre and I don't blame him.

...is this a serious question?

Yea, franchises end sometimes. It all sounds like they're speaking with such finality when I read about this latest film.

Darn, had a feeling he might announce actually this on the Late Show when they announced he'd be on last week. Should have called it in, now feel free to call bullshit on this prediction.

But yeah, good news. Always thought Craig is a potentially great Bond, but that potential has been largely wasted after Casino Royale. So yeah, give him another chance. And don't fuck it up.

And call Nolan.

Worst Bond ever, has no charm and is clearly not interested in being bond
Agreed. Casino Royale is his only good Bond film, the rest are missable. Connery #1 and that won't change.

Clive Owen would have been a much better Bond than Craig.

GSG Flash

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
He said he wants to go out on a high note, hopefully that means another movie on the level of Casino Royale.

That said, I'm scared that it may be too late for us to go back to a Casino Royale style movie in the Craig Era :(

Bond is an institution. They have no reason to cancel it since it performs well and has been proven to work since the 1960's. There's a sense of finality to this one since it's the final Craig Bond and his tenure has had more continuity than the other Bond movies, but it's not ending Bond. The cycle will continue anew with a new actor after this.

I could flip Brosnan and Moore, depending on mood.
