Any medium and why.
Not necessarily my favorites but it's stuff I come back to every now and then.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Opening
It's all in the signing and the music. I don't like the 3D visuals, would've preferred it to be 2D instead.

Game Of Thrones "Official" Show Open
Everything about this intro is amazing. From the 3D visuals, to the music and the length it goes on for. Easily my favorite thing from the show.

Berserk: Golden Age I: Opening
*May Have Visual Spoilers*
It really gets the tone right with this intro to the movie. It could've been more darker but it serves what it is. The music, singing and visuals hints what Berserk is about while hiding most of what will happen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (90s)
Perhaps for nostalgia's sake but everything in this intro is awesome. You get to know the story, what each turtle's character is briefly explained, the animation is pretty cool and song is catchy and cheesy.

One Piece: Opening (English)
Rap has never been so cool on an anime. This intro is among some of my favorite. Way better than the Japanese counter part. Can't say much for the actual voice acting of the show though.

Can I post a films opening credits?

Edit: Any medium? Okay then. My pick is the Spider-Man 2 opening credits. Love Danny Elfmans score and Alex Ross' art, so combined it is just so good.

It's off putting how it integrates the text into the fictional world, a blurring of diegetic and non-diegetic. It makes you both aware that you are watching a movie and it draws you into the movie world.

X-Men TAS
It's a shame they didn't reuse this theme for the movies. It works so well at communicating the essence of the X-Men, which is an eternal struggle, a vigilance, against tyranny.

Spider-Man TAS
That guitar solo holy shit.

Iron Man TAS

Fantastic Four TAS
You gotta admit, those 90s Marvel cartoons knew how to do catchy intro tunes.

Cheers
Hard not to have this. Probably one of the catchiest sitcom intros ever.

The Bots Master
I think this introduced rap to young kids.

DuckTales

Space Above and Beyond
James Morrison's earnest call to arms is truly inspiring.

The Wonder Years

Superman The Movie
It's long, but the primitive visual effects on the lettering still leave me in awe. It's a portentous theme, preparing you for an epic of mythic proportions.

My favorite opening to my personal no questions asked favorite movie ever!

Revenge of the Sith Intro

The music, visuals, how both ships are flying prefectly coordinated desmonstrating a perfect master/padawan understanding.

Just god damn incredible, I love it.

Breaking Bad is nothing special, just short and sweet. I like that.

The multiple exposures used in True Detective: I could watch stuff like that for hours...

Naruto Shippuden OP 1 came to mind first

Blue Exorcist Season 1
I enjoy the fast-paced starting sequence, the shift into the more melancholy mid-sequence, into the rising hype final sequence.

Sonic Colors Intro
So goddamn colorful, catchy song, and I really love the eggman shot in the middle for some reason. This is also my favorite game intro of all time as I have proclaimed in multiple counterpart threads on gaming side.

Space Dandy - Viva Namida
Incredibly catchy, well-timed to the music and shifts from scene to seen aggressively enough, but not too aggressively

Waiting for someone to post Attack on titan or FMA: Brotherhood Openings.

Well, I wouldn't blame them!

Bob's Burgers Maybe it's because I've fallen in love with the show, but I really dig how simple it is
Viewtiful Joe If he can't do it, no one can!
Final Fantasy Tactics

And not an intro, but if Yu Yu Hakusho has my favourite endings to a show ever.

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot about Baccano! but it's more of a silent agreement that it's the best opening ever.

Switching it up with a podcast mention: Dan Carlin's Hardcore History

Ghosts of the Ostfront I — He opens his 4-part WW2 Eastern Front series with a story of a historian visiting a vast field outside of Volgograd, Russia. Strange objects are sticking up out of the snowy field, and they can be seen for miles and miles, far off into the horizon. When the historian's eyes adjust to the blinding glare of the snow, he realizes that
those "strange objects" are human bones... the remains of the estimated 300,000 German Wehrmacht who were killed in the Battle of Stalingrad
. It's a chilling story, and very well narrated, and it really sets the mood for that horrifying (but amazing) podcast series.

Wrath of the Khans II — Another grisly opener (from another horrifying but awesome series of episodes), a Muslim caravan is entering a city in China, when all of the sudden the road gets... marshy. Once they get closer, they realize
they are riding on top of a road completely littered with decomposing human bodies, and find out that what they thought was a snow-covered mountain from the distance, was actually an absolutely massive pile of human skulls
. They are both stunned by the amazingly sophisticated architecture of the Chinese city, and the realization that
apparently there is a civilization somewhere out there with the power to utterly destroy the people who built it (hint: it's the Mongols)
.

My descriptions don't hold a candle to the way he narrates those openers. I can't recommend Hardcore History highly enough. His Ghosts of the Ostfront series costs 6 bucks (LINK), but his 5-part Wrath of the Khans series is still available for free, so hurry and download it!

I really dig True Detective, Vikings and The Walking Dead. Most shows I'll just skip through the into, but those I'm happy to watch every time.

I liked The Sopranos intro too, but it was so long it didn't take me long to skip it too.

Some of my favourites have already been mentioned, True Detective may be my favourite TV opening ever.

Rectify - the song fits the show perfectly, and it doesn't overstay its welcome
