Samsung is planning to offer the Note 7 as a refurbished device https://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-planning-offer-note-7-refurbished-device

It's a shame that the refurb units won't be sold everywhere, though, but I guess Note 7-or-bust people might now have a way to keep using their phone of choice without a safety risk.

I probably won't be rushing out to get one, though, as I already have a perfectly good S7 edge.

They would mainly sell this in developing countries I assume. That isn't much of an issue

I think it probably won't matter if the replacement phone has a new model number and name. Though one does wonder if the look might be a problem.

Have a burner for air travel? Also if it's in a case it isn't exactly super obvious what it is. I just flew to AZ and no one was looking at what kinds of phones people have. The longer it goes without a note 7 starting on fire on a plane the less and less they will be paying attention to whether someone has one.

To this day there are still airport announcements saying that the Note 7 is not allowed on flights period. Even if these new Note 7s didn't have batteries and were instead powered by dreams and wishes, it would still be banned.

Yup. Phones are more important to those people than us in the West. They don't have laptops or brick and mortar infrastructure like banks. People transfer money with their phones

Ok...Does this mean I can reactivate mine since Verizon still has yet to get me what's needed to return it? Got to admit, it's been a great secondary device for gaming and browsing the Web while at home on wifi.

It's still a great phone and I guess if you never travel by air, then why not. If the price is real good, then it's definitely worth having since it was seriously the best phone on the market till the recalls.
