Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Still have $17 left from my $50 eShop card. Gotta figure out if I'm gonna wait for what's already out to go on sale or cop more of what's out.

It doesn't appear that there is anything new in May that I want unless Pocket Rumble somehow makes it.

This Disgaea 5 price, ugh

I sorta want it too, but I ain't paying $60. Just like I'm not paying $40 for Setsuna. Will cop both when on inevitable sale.

I'll probably buy Minecraft for the third time. The idea of having a world I can play on the TV or take with me on the go is very appealing.

Other than that, May seems like a "wait and see" month for me.

Wish we'd get some more info on Stardew Valley. That's probably my most anticipated downloadable title.

Nah, only NoE website updated the date to April, but the developer haven't said anything.

They were oddly specific though:

Shakedown: Hawaii from vBlank: This 16-bit spiritual successor to Retro City Rampage aims to be twice as good with twice the bits. From the boardroom to the streets, Shakedown: Hawaii parodies big business and the white collar crimes that go alongside. Build your empire, monopolise the markets and collaterally re-zone the island’s destructible sandbox. It’s scheduled to launch first on Nintendo Switch this April.

Wish Street Fighter was cheaper on the eShop. Basically give me Puyo Tetris pricing aka $29.99 eShop or $39.99 physical.

Thanks again for the great thread as always!

Taking a look at the releases for this month, I'm interested in NBA Playgrounds, and hopefully it lives up to NBA Jam. I'll grab Minecraft at some point too
(sooner or later I'll play it for the first time, don't judge me)
, maybe over the summer.

Definitely want to pick up Puyo Puyo Tetris this month.

Amazon gave me a $10 credit for delaying my Mario Kart 8 Deluxe shipment so with Prime I can get Disgaea for $40! I'll also be picking up Street Fighter II.

Tumbleseed and Thumper are digital only, right? I had no idea what Thumper was but that trailer seemed pretty cool. I will probably wait for Minecraft physical.

What's that Thumper game all about? I've been eying up FastRMX but looks like I'll wait and see how that is before buying it now.

Sad to see no Virtual Console :(
Virtual Console is reserved for NES Classic hardware that is impossible to find in stores.
(Seriously speaking, we should be fine not hearing anything until E3. If Nintendo is still in radio silence about it after that... be deeply concerned.)

I'm still having difficulties to believe that street fighter 2 has been in the top 3 on amazon for like a week here.

I'm curious to see how it performs on the eshop.

I wouldn't be surprising to see it launching alongside paid online tbh

Has anyone seen a price for Minecraft in EU? I know it's $29.99 in US, but the fact that the eShop here doesn't even show a price yet has me nervous.

I've never played Elliot Quest, but I might pick it up on the 3ds.

Does anyone know if it's the definitive version in terms of content? I thought I read that it's getting some additional stuff.

I was going to just get it on the Wii U, but I heard it's filled with game breaking glitches. Hopefully they ironed those out with this release? Fingers crossed.

Didn't know Thumper was (supposedly) coming out this month. Definitely interested in picking it up, so hopefully it still makes it.

I am going to make a thread about the upcoming release since it's one of my favorite games :), but to answer your questions
-There were gamebreaking glitches but they were ironed out within a short period of time. They'd iron out one and then another would arise like a game of whac-a-mole. This got fully resolved in a pretty short period of time.
-This version will include some extras, I believe beyond those in the Wii I version which already had some extras (though I think PC eventually got the Wii U extras).

Can't wait to hear how you like it!

Blazing Star - NeoGeo Is out in Europe today. Not familiar with this game, is it considered one of the good ones?

I personally think it's good and one of the better ones. I found the difficulty curve to be better/easier than some the other shmups that came out on the neo geo. It has a lot going on at once on the screen but it's manageable. There are several vehicles each of which shoot different kinds of projectiles and add variety. Definitely worth looking at if you're a fan of shmups.
Try watching a video to get a sense of how it plays

Master Blaster Zero 1.2 update is out now for Switch (Thursday for 3DS). Trailer linked, but basically:

- new Destroyer Mode, i.e. Hard Mode. Enemies are stronger, some will explode into bullets after dying, & others will require certain weapons to deal damage
- Gunvolt & Ekoro (Galgun & Mighty Gunvolt) are DLC characters for $2 each, but will be FREE OF CHARGE FOR TWO WEEKS upon release. Gunvolt is out on Thursday, while Ekoro is out June 1st.

This just makes me hope the game will get a sale soon. Though I might just give in & nab it so I can have something else to play on my Switch

there'll be no sales until fall for anything on the eShop.

I disagree but only because E3 will have a Nintendo direct. It would not surprise me to put a couple of games "on sale" during e3. That "sale" may be week 1 discounts for games available " now immediately after the direct" but they would still be on sale.

That being said, an actual sale with tons of games similar to what Sony and Microsoft do on their digital stores? Not happening until at least the fall.

Must not be out in the US yet. Says I'm already up-to-date.

Hoping we get to keep those free DLC characters and they won't vanish after the trial periods.

I have trouble finding the quote but I remember reading them saying this. Not sure if it was during the January investor meeting or a random JP interview or when exactly.

The update is out. Least it updated on my system. The Destroyer Mode is part of the update but the Azure Striker Gunvolt character is separate and not up on the US or Europe eShop yet. It is up on the Japan eShop.

The DLC is region-free. I bought the game on a secondary account (Switched US -> Mexican eShop) for a slight discount due to exchange rates and how NoA handles currency for some games. The account is now set to the Japanese eShop. Downloaded the Japanese DLC. It shows up fine.

You do need to start a new game like Unlimited Mode. You can't retroactively start using Gunvolt in previous save files. New experience, new game.
