Today's patch on PS4 completely fucked the game/servers...

I got booted 3 times this afternoon with connection issues and now I'm not even able to reconnect.

Looking at the official forums and there's already a 35 pages long thread about the issue.... Time to go back to Horizon: Zero Dawn I guess!

Having a fighter transforms the Keelback from garbage into one of the most versatile and fun early game ships. Haul cargo, passenger missions, mining, all with a little glass cannon watching your back. You can get along pretty well in RES sites, too. Don't go near a CZ though.

This is really nice to know, as I was recently playing with a Keelback/Fighter build on Coriolis. Might trade in my T6 and give it a whirl after the next CG pays out.

I like the idea of rocking up in a big dumb tank loaded with missile racks and letting the AI go ham while I buzz around in a fighter. Should give my pals in Cobras a laugh at the very least.

Hey guys

I have finally bought the ASP Explorer (what a beauty), but I have a question about it. I bought the squadron paint job pack off of the frontier store but I am a little confused about what it actually included. On the thumbnail for the pack, it shows a series of lights that run down the "spine" of the ship. I assumed that this unique detailing was part of the pack, but as I'm sure you guessed, I discovered later that it was not. What are these lights and how do I acquire them for my ship?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks

Slowly getting somewhere...

Tested yesterday in Elite. The new position of the HOTAS is really comfortable. :) If only I wasn't stuck collecting materials for the damn Lvl 5 FSD upgrades. Searched through 4 or 5 famine systems, but didn't find a single distribution center signal, for scanning wakes for the bloody datamined wake exceptions. >.<

Will continue, whenever I can motivate myself for two hours straight again to point the ship at a thing and wait for a scan.

You are creating some serious piece of engineering here!

I have wide soft handles on my gaming recliner with no place to attach anything, so I went with small (1m x 0.7m) table on wheels with open back which I "put on" this chair (sorry, not english native speaker here, do not know how to say it right). There is enough place on the table for hotas, keyboard and mouse.

The constructions is not very sturdy, but when it is on chair it partially lies on its handles and feels good. And there is enough room for my legs when I switch to relax position.

These things escalate, don't they? :) First you think you need a HOTAS, as M+K or gamepad don't feel as good. Next, you realize that the HOTAS doesn't sit right on the table and you look for a mounting option. Before you even know it, you're sitting there, maximally immersed with a nice HOTAS, maybe even pedals, wearing a VR headset or oogling at triple monitors with headtracking, all just so you can feel like a real pretend spaceship pilot.

And then you spend hours straight, pointing your pretend spaceship at a thing and waiting for non interactive scans to complete, watching Netflix or listening to audiobooks on the side, just so you don't go mad from the dullness. :'D

So I've only been doing trading so far.

I feel like I went super quickly from the Sidewinder to my Type-7 but now the difficulty curve just went vertical... Suddenly the next ship is like 110 millions (Type-9) and like 180 for the Anaconda?

This will take forever..

At least I'm in the Top 10% for the CG so this should help a bit.

Start the Superpower grind, should be looking at the Python as well.

Python rules. It hauls cargo nicely and I tried it with a couple lasers and trio of cannons...pretty damn effective killing machine too but not very maneuverable so annoying little agile bastards remain annoying. Ditched my Vulture for now becsuse of it and I wish there were stored ship configs because its a pain in the ass swapping a lot out.

Sigh... Looks like people aren't doing much of the CG trade grind this week... We're Wednesday and still only Tier 5.

Sucks since I'm in Top 10% for once.

So finally ordered a TrackIR. After trying out the Oculus Rift the one thing I ultimately missed was ability to freely look around. It's the thing that had the biggest impact on me as I tried to use it with Elite Dangerous and even played the other VR games. I want that ability but I don't want to give up the graphic quality of games. So I'm hoping I get significant use out of this with Elite, racing games, and a few others.

I have been toying around with getting two more monitors to have a triple screen setup or instead pick up a ultra wide monitor. I have been curious about an ultra-wide monitor for a while and could get a lot of use out of either setup with how many different windows and sometimes programs I might have open at once.

Does anyone have any experience running Elite with either setup?

I'm top 25% and counting. The combat one should cash out tonight and I will get back to hauling lithium around which others may do to.

Yeah I have an ok run going for Lithium on my T7 (2 jumps to go and 3 jumps back).

Too bad the actual run profit is shit (only around 200k).

I really hope we'll max out to Tier 8... I want my money!

I'm too lazy. I'm at top 75%. I delivered Superconductors instead of Semiconductors, so I said fuck it. Plus I'm trying to play other games.

Oh shit, you finally got moved to community. This thread was gaming side for almost two years, lol.

What are all yalls ship names?

My AspX is the Alexandria named for its famous library and I use the AspX to explore so it fits.

My Tradeconda is the Porkchop Express, named after Jack Burton's truck in Big Trouble in Little China.

My Corvette was gonna be the Sword of Damacles but then I saw it was the name of one of the capital ships in one of the trailers so now I'm trying to find a new name. I'm thinking maybe The Gordian Knot in keeping with the Alexander theme.

Any game where I have to name space ships (Stellaris, Endless Space 2, Elite, etc) I always name them after astronauts.

So my ships in elite are called USS Armstrong, USS Conrad, USS Slayton, USS Matingly, etc etc.

go straight up, fam. 90 degrees. should take no more than 10 seconds after boosting off the pad straight up.

My Vulture was called Poky Stabby. Have not decided on my Pythons name or Dolphin for that matter but it may get sold...

takes a cold sommbitch to sell a Pyrhon or Dolphin.

What are all yalls ship names?

Asp X: Pangloss's Folly
DBX: I May Be Some Time
Anaconda: The Harder They Fall
Python: Du Temps Perdue
Vulture: Police Escort
Clipper: Outdoor Miner
Courier: Negative Ghostrider

This. You don't have to fly gradually up. You only have to come down to a planet/moon at an angle. Just flying straight up after undocking and once you aren't mass locked just frame shift back into space. Also if you have a clear line of sight of the system you are jumping to (it's solid circle vs faded and dotted) you can just jump right to it once you are not mass locked. You don't have to head to space unless it's on the other side of the planet as you can't jump them. Doesn't matter if it's just above the horizon either. As long as it's a solid circle the game will let you frame shift..

I've lost count how many times I've bought and resold the Python. I haven't done that to the Dolphin thankfully. I like that ship a lot.

I have a Type 7 that is still nameless. Maybe my usage of it as a bulk space bus will eventually offer something good.

I've started a theme of famous serpents (or birds depending) of legend.
My new Asp Explorer is called Benzaiten, named after the Japanese Buddhist goddess of abundant wealth and good fortune. She can take the form of a white snake, so I got the Albino White skin for the AspX :3

When I finally get a Python or something I want to call it Tsuchinoko.

I see we got moved to Community. :(

Decided on a Star _______ theme for my imperial ships. Everything else was just based on some characteristic of the ship, the ship build, or the name of the ship. I can't think of what i named the others, but every ship that isn't a mule has a name.

So I'm working on unlocking Elvira by traveling 300LY away from my home system...

I have 210/300 done so far... 2 questions

1-How do I know which one was my home system? I can't remember

2-Is there an easy way to find a system that is both closest from my current system but also 300ly from my home system?

Maybe we can sneak back over to gaming for 2.4.

2.4 is the next major update? Is there any notes or info about it anywhere?

Had no idea they introduced that. Now I'm like you.

The key binding for engine trails has been in since... 2.1 or 2.2? Was high time they let people spend their money on colored smoke. ^^

Haven't named all my ships, yet. Here are some though:

Clipper: MSS Duckface
Courier: MSS Pinocchio
FDL: Murderboat
Type 6: Haulsalot
Type 9: Haulsalotmore
Asp X: Scansalot
Edit:
Cobra: Cheese Wedge
Sidewinder: Dorito
Anaconda: Space Dong

Talking about the white color. I feel like it wasn't part of the original colors. Maybe I'm nuts.

The original colors weren't changeable. Engines either had an orange-ish glow or a blue-ish one. The keybinding to (de)activate your micro transacted engine color was introduced with the one for weapon color months ago however.

Only buy able engine colors didn't manifest until some days/weeks ago.

Look how beautiful white engine trail and white weapons are on a Cutter:

I'm talking about the colors of the customization in general. Wasn't part of weapons that came out or engines. That's all I'm saying.

I'm talking about the colors of the customization in general. Wasn't part of weapons that came out or engines. That's all I'm saying.

Sorry, now I get you. You might be right. IIRC it wasn't?

TNoZLI1.png

Not my screenshot, but from the first time they introduced weapon color micro transactions. I realize I've spend more than enough on Frontier. Counted about 350€ in their shop, including the Elite main game preorder, the 170€ lifetime pass briefly available in 2015, Planet Coaster, an Elite mug and various micro transactions. That's not to mention the 4-5 people I heldped get into the game.

I winged up (first time doing so almost since Wings came out) with a friend that hadn't played in years to take him RES farming. He was in a Cobra, and decided to take an Adder to the RES. I didn't realize that he gets a 100% copy of the bounty, no matter what. He didn't have a KWS and wasn't aligned with any power, and I always KWS scanned every ship and am aligned with Arissa Lavigny-Duval (so higher bounty payouts). He got the exact same payouts as me. He was quite poor, but we did a couple of runs in a Hazardous RES yesterday and he got a few mil in the bank, which is a lot for him right now.

Our strategy generally was for me to pick targets, once he got in range I would call "fire", start shooting first, let him get some shots in, and then he could keep shooting if the enemy wasn't aggroed on him. It actually worked pretty well. I'm thinking today or tomorrow I might take the Anaconda out there instead and try multicrew. Does the crewman get a 100% copy of bounties just like if they're in a wing?
