Ah well, guess I'll go physical with the game. Would have went digital so my friend could play with me, but I know he really wont get into it unless it's co-op.

Do all of them? Neat cause I gotta go back and beat it.

Picked up a regular 3d copy at Target. For such a big blockbuster, I'm surprised they still had so many! Time to sell off the ugly tin in eBay.... whenever Amazon decides to ship my statue :/

DLC or stuff from within the game? I've been at 100% for a while so it'd be nice if it was the former. I know they preorder exclusives but I'm not sure they released them for sale.

We need some nice HD gifs from Jurassic World - not the Digital HD version, but rather the Blu Ray which seems to be a different master.

I want to love that scene, but the camera work mixed with the CG throws me off until the final roar - that part is great.

Can you get an HD cap of her right when she roars into the camera before charging the Indominus? Not when she's looking like a cartoon coming through the Spino, but rather the closeup on the head.

Found this earlier. Really cool stuff - even without any commentary for the footage it blows the stuff on the Blu-ray out of the water. I hope they release more!

Now, here comes my confusion - I thought ILM SF handled the entire final sequence starting when Delta leaves the Innovation Center. Did they not do the Raptors? I know ILM SF did very little with the Raptors, but I was under the impression that was one of the times they did.

The camera movement torpedoed the scene, but honestly it was kind of dumb anyway. It was a forced call-back to the original. Weak nostalgia pandering like half the movie. :\

The Lost World's score doesn't get nearly enough love. Really unique among Williams's works and really nailed entire "trek into the prehistoric" tone. Plus, I love that it was almost entirely new themes.

And man, I wanted to like Jurassic World's score, because I fucking love Giacchino, but it was easily the worst material I've heard from him. Waaaaaaay too much reliance on the first film's themes (even more than JPIII) and the new themes were completely unmemorable. I never expected to enjoy the movie, but my mindset going in was "at least the score will be great, my second favorite composer building upon my favorite". :\

As far as I know the model and textures for the Raptors were provided by ILM and everything else for those particular shots were created by Image Engine.

edit: found this article on the IE website. Haven't read it yet but I'm sure this will explain better what shots they worked on.

Holy crow, this film gets better and better with each viewing. You get a sense of the direction when you already know each beat of the film and it makes you focus more on the decisions made behind the camera rather than running to a forum and whining about characters and high heels.... Too late for many.

I think the difference is that it's used so sparingly that it being bad or "off" doesn't jar people the same way as dodgy CG today. The camera movements and everything else around them are also physical, so that works in its favor.

The only shots that can actually take me out of the movie slightly are one or two of the Raptor kitchen shots.

I dunno. Jungles grow fast, especially vines. Although I think if they wanted it to be recognizable they should have dialed it back slightly (I knew they went to the park and it still took me a second to realize where they were.)

Well, leaning too heavily on the nostalgia is a criticism you can make of the entire film, so I don't hold that against Giacchino. You're right though, I was listening for the new themes and they didn't do much for me. I think Don Davis did a better John Williams impersonation and also a bit better score overall with JPIII (absent one or two really bad cues right at the beginning... really from the camerawork to the green screen to the dialogue to the music, the paragliding opening is just cruddy.)

JW's new themes were terrific and it didn't rely on old themes. They appear like a handful of times in the score and it makes sense when they do. So yeah gonna disagree pretty hard there. When I see people say the new themes aren't memorable or good I mostly get a well they're not as MEMORABLE as dem CLASSICS vibe but that's normal.

Of course opinions are fine, I'm just not seeing it. The new theme that first plays when Zach and Gray enter the innovation center is grand and the backbone of the entire score. There's also a nice theme for the brothers/family that also recurs. The new themes are used so much more than the old ones and it isn't even close really.

Think what you will of the score itself but the accusation that it relies on old themes is blatantly false.

You know, I seriously think the end of Jurassic World is both the most and least enjoyable part for me in equal measures.

I love the fight as a whole, but when I get into the moment by moment analysis of it, it's really dumb. It's the most that the dinosaurs don't act like animals, with the pointless roaring before beating, and how the I-rex SLOWLY works up to eat the T-rex's throat, only to be interrupted by the croaking of a Raptor charging from far away, and missing it's chance to bite it despite seeing it coming straight for it.

Had no idea the limited edition was literally a round metal tin until I got it on release day from Amazon.

Pretty sure I'm just going to return it and see if I can snag the normal 3D pack and shirt from BB later.

Still hope we see a AAA Jurassic Park game this gen. Trespasser had the promise just not the Q/A and development time it needed. Still significant though since its physics were inspiration to Half Life 2s. My favorite game though was chaos island. Actually amazingly found a like new copy at a thrift store for a dollar recently.

Finally gotten around to seeing JW. I felt really old when they mentioned it was 22 years later and I realized that was real time. But then the reason I hadn't seen it before was that I have a little kid and no babysitter, so I guess I should've known.

I liked it more than I expected to. I still don't think the new batch even gets what JP is about, because like 3 it was again just a dumb monster film. Whereas the first one was a warning tale of scientific hubris and the second one still partially about environmentalism first and foremost, the monsters just provided a call to action. What little story aside from the running and uh screaming there was in this film (military weapons are bad yo) got lost in completely cardboard motivations.

That said, it was quite fun, if hundred percent predictable (like literally you know who lives and who dies and how within two seconds of introduction).

I'd rate the films JP >> TLW > JW.

Rumors of a third movie are unsubstantiated.

Oh and of course OG book >>> films. Am I right or am I right.

I massively prefer Jurassic Park the film to Jurassic Park the novel. There were some interesting things in the book that weren't explored (such as the stuff with Wu and "not real dinosaurs", which actually cropped up in JW sorta) but I felt that the pacing of the movie was much better and it was populated with much more likable people—I can't imagine the kids being as dumb as they were in the book and being able to stand watching the movie at all. Hammond as a guy motivated by this sort of showman's dream is more interesting to me than a rich jerk who gets his comeuppance.

One reason I was so happy about JW was that for me it totally did go back to these themes from the original, it was about that just in a further manner of speaking. TLW provided nothing and didn't do anything with raptor intelligence that has been the core backbone of all the movies, even JP3 did it. And I'd call them all "monster movies." The original has a scene were a ripped off bloody arm falls from the ceiling for no logical reason other than to be gory and provide a bit of shock value. They're monster action movies with themes of tampering with nature, and JW was no different.
