Huge Marvel Comics Digital Sale on Amazon - lots of stuff 90% off

Amazon is currently having a giant firesale on a huge swathe of Marvel Comics titles on their digital Kindle platform: http://comicbook.com/comics/2017/09/19/amazon-marvel-digital-sale/

These are huge discounts -- 90% off in many cases -- across a ton of classic books. If there's stuff from Marvel's back catalog you've wanted to read, it's never gonna be cheaper than this.

Some possible recommendations I pulled together with a couple people just now for a new reader, especially noting a lot of the inspirations for Marvel's multimedia properties:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ARKCTES/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- the dark phoenix saga. one of the two definitive x-men stories and probably one of the most referenced across comics and beyond

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NAHL15I/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- 2014 captain marvel. this is one of the big books driving what female audience marvel has these days and inspirration

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NEW45XE/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <---- ms. marvel, the muslim teenage superhero, probably the best and most popular new thing marvel's done in twenty years

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GDHWB7Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- the other definitive x-men story, this one is about the time mike pence tried to kill them with the power of jesus

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DYVESVO/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- world war hulk, a standalone-ish sci-fi story where hulk goes into space, half of the inspiration for thor 3

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GDHWB88/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <----- this is the good old wolverine "origin" story, notable primarily for absolutely gorgeous art

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K0MHQ6Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <---- miracleman, this is alan moore's other super influential early book that was out of print until recently because todd macfarlane is a turd. this is kind of the original dark-superhero story

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ARKCRQS/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <---- start of walter simonson's run on thor. this is basically the reason anyone likes the character and the time it best manages to just completely own being a ludicrous norse mythology/alien-sci-fi mashup. it also has the frog who lifts thor's hammer and becomes throg. i think there's like five books of this.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAJR2EI/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <---- runaways, this is the last legitimately appealing teen book before ms. marvel, about the children of different supervillains who band together to make a superhero team.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PSN1DOQ/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- frank miller's daredevil. this is the book that made people care about the character and 99% of the inspiration for the netflix series.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HSBRMKO/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <--- the original run of alias, the book Jessica Jones is taken from

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A9WBW8W/?tag=neogaf0e-20 <---- Punisher MAX, the storyline that made people actually care about the Punisher and (I know this is getting redundant) a big inspiration for the netflix version of the character

Note that a lot of these links are to the start of ongoing runs. For most of them Amazon should provide a list of titles in the series on the store page, you'll usually want to look at the following books by the same writer.

Welcome aboard! You are right OP - you will never find comics this cheap again.

MY recommendations are the following as they are self-contained and made for new readers. Instead of 80s books, why not try some modern X classics?

Astonishing X-Men, Whedon - extremely good re-introduction to the modern X-Team. This is 4 volumes, total ~$8

Uncanny X-Force, Remender - this is the opposite of ASX above. ASX is bright and bold. UXF is grit and bad assery. This is 6 volumes, total $13

Ultimate Spider-Man, Brian Michael Bendis - this is a lovely, self contained set of Spider-Man stories starting from his origin story. Terrific stuff straight through. 20+ volumes, total $40+

Absolutely crazy sale. Shit had me like this:

Reposting from the other thread because there are only so many 2 dollar transactions your bank will see before they start worrying:

Friendly reminder: if you guys want to avoid your bank seeing too many transactions too quickly and mistaking a kindle sale for fraud, you can just put money on your Amazon gift account through a single transaction.

In your account, under the gift card category, there should be a "gift card balance" that you can top up. That means you can put 40 bucks (or however much you want) there with a single transaction.

I've always been curious. Is Spider-Gwen good, or is her popularity driven by her character design?
I find her alternate universe interesting. Her life early in the series is basically pure suffering, just like 616 Peter Parker's life often feels like.

Also, the Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe original graphic novel is only $2! That's cheaper than a single issue!

There is NO excuse.

Self contained, only 2 books, incredible art, amazing writing, buy it now.

Any drawbacks to merging Comixology and Amazon accounts?

Picked up all of the Jane Foster Thor trades currently along with Unworthy Thor, and I am leaving it at that for this sale heh.

The art, character design and alternate versions of characters are way better than the actual stories in the book.

Yeah Spider-Gwen is a letdown in that regards.

You did good, but pick up Lady Thor and keep on doing good.

She kicks Odin's shit in for being a jerk and that was one of the mid points of the run TBH.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT

My haul:

Moon Knight Vol. 2 (Lemire)
Silver Surfer Vol. 1-3 (2014-2015)
Uncanny X-Force Vol. 3 & 4
Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 4-6 (Straczynski)
New X-Men Vol. 3 & 4
Daredevil: The Devil, Inside and Out Vol. 2
Daredevil: Hell To Pay Vol. 1
Uncanny X-Men Masterworks Vol. 1-3
Thor: God of Thunder Vol. 2

I think I might leave it there.

You can get Jonathan Hickman's entire Fantastic Four + FF run for $25. One of the best Marvel runs of the past decade in my opinion. Ignore the few amazon reviews that say otherwise.

His Avengers/New Avengers run (plus infinity and Secret Wars) is much more pricey at around $65, but it included about 90 issues of content.

One of the best long running meta-stories in the past 20 years of Marvel comics was the DnA Marvel Cosmic -> Hickman Fantastic Four -> Hickman Avengers sequence, culminating in Secret Wars.

As a whole, it may be my favourite Marvel thing ever. Of course, if you are going to read that many comics (150-200 issues?), you would be much better off just subscribing to Marvel Unlimited for a few months.

i believe it's only ~$40 for like 200 issues, and it will be a great entry point for your kids to get started reading when they're young

it's an investment really

I already have Marvel Unlimited; are there any (Marvel) comics that are not covered by this? Or any comics released within the last 6 months?

If you're even remotely interested in Marvel comics and have a way to read digital comics, jump on this sale. You're getting entire volumes (which usually feature 5-7 issues) for a quarter or half the price of a single issue.

hey guys, never read any, where do I start?

I just picked up the Vision from the recommendations here. Any other collections that I should check?
