Gravity Rush 2 |OT| Mewton's Law of Gravity

Wasn't it hinted by one of the disappearing scientists from the first game that there may be other pillar worlds out there? I could imagine a new game taking place at one of those. Of course, it doesn't have to be a pillar world as demonstrated by the existence of Jirga Para Lhao.
Yeah, they outright said that this wasn't the only pillar. I'm not sure how Jirga Para Lhao fits in all that, maybe it's still "part" of the same pillar.
I'm still a bit disappointed that we got no mention of Singlor nor Nala in this game.

Yeah I could see it too.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Hekseville is essentially Kat's home, not just "that same city from the first game". Plus, it's nice seeing it again with a visual upgrade.

This.

Yeah, I thought it was a great surprise that we got to return. JPL was big enough to facilitate the game itself, but then you get a whole other sandbox too? I liked it.

Agreed, plus there was a while where we were wondering if we'd get to go back or not.

I love this game, still sticking w/ my 9/10 rating, but definitely go with Nier if you have to choose between the two.

The majority still like GR2, but as the months pass, it seems to be getting more divisive as to whether it is actually better than the first game. (I still definitely think it is.) This is due to various frustrations such as excessive stealth/tailing sections, divisive side missions (I personally liked them, they're quite charming, but meh), and the story continues to be somewhat nonsensical, as well as a few camera issues. When all of that is factored in, one can see why its MC score is 80. However, overall, if you love Kat and the rest of the game, the sequel is still incredibly charming to where I could easily say I very much enjoyed my time playing this game and gloss over its flaws. Plus "flying" is still as great as ever, so yea.

That being said, whew, Nier was quite the experience, and is my current GOTY for reasons I can't spoil, so yea, take that how you will.

You should definitely go with Nier if you are debating between the two. I love GR2, but a lot of that love has to do with the world, characters, music, and Kat's mobility and how awesome it feels to fly around. The complaints about the mission structure are pretty valid and I easily see why it got the reviews it did.

Don't sleep on it though! Definitely pick it up when you get the chance. It's my game of the year after Nier, so far.

It's my favorite game of the year so far and one of my favorite games of all time. I feel like it improves heavily on just about every aspect of the first game. So, if you enjoyed the first you'll likely love the second.

I'm not too hot on Nier and was pretty disappointed by it.

However, Nier seems to have a much higher amount of praise than this game.

I guess I need to finish Nier, put it on the back burner when I got Persona 5. Which is in contention for my goty :p

I put GR2 in the "very good" category for me out of games that have been released this year along with Nioh, and RE7.

Horizon and Persona 5 are both goty quality for me so far.

I haven't finished GR2 yet , i just arrived to chapter 3 and ... if i have a complain so far ..it's that the game is less focused than the first.
There is this sense of freedom and sometimes it's maybe too much ?
I don't know how to explain this.

Now , i really don't like :

- the way the gravity shifts , it was quite set in the first game but in this one , it sorta auto correct and that annoy me greatly.
-The number of times the game tells me to go look for something or talk to a npc with a ( here is a photo ) .. i don't know i don't really like that ..

Did you pay close attention to the end of the Raven DLC?

That's not too bad at all considering the amount of people here calling the game "awful garbage" and "trash".

I'll admit I missed that, but they still didn't mention them ;P
I'll take what I can get though, I'm happy they somehow managed to get together, even though we don't really know the details.

It probably had something to do with what Raven did to overwrite the past. At least, that's my guess.

Yea, I definitely don't agree with those people. Only thing I could say is the stealth stuff really is dumb though...

The side missions, I fucking love them lol, from my perspective it's just another day in the life of Kat, and so many of them are charming and/or humorous.

Persona 5 is #2 so far, great game.

Finally got time to start this one with Persona 5 finished. Impressions after about 10 hours:

Gorgeous world, holy shit does it look good. I always found the look of the first game a bit depressing. Now the city is full with colour and detail. I've spend hours just flying around taking pictures. Great stuff. Felt a bit like Leeloo Dallas jumping down from the skyscrapers.

Controls are tight, it definitely feels more responsive. Throwing objects at enemies is great. Combat is still a bit wonky but when it works it's cool.

I have one complaint so far: some of the mission designs are really bad. I don't understand why you would put stealth missions in a game like this. They can be very frustrating. There are also some side quests here that add to world/character building, but are devoid of action. I don't hate those, but they do feel a bit unnecessary at times.

The beginning of the game was awful by the way. Everything before you reach the main hub is really dull. Not a good first impression.

Soundtrack is fantastic, but I expected nothing less.

Very curious where the story will go. So far it hasn't really took off. But again, I'm only 10 hours in.

The story definitely takes a bit to kick off in JPL. The first chunk of hours is more world building and life-sim.

Oh look, a Gravity Rush 2 update. 2B costume?

Oh come on!

Edit: Is it just me or does gameplay feel more responsive now?

Is the raven dlc worth playing through?

I was left a bit numb/dissapointed by the main game but ill give the dlc a go if its short and action packed. And has no stealth or escort segments.

It's pretty awful honestly. And this is coming from someone who absolutely loves the main game. I'd still play it just for the bit of story it does add and it's only like 2 hours long.

There are a bit of both in the DLC but it's a relatively short part and it's done differently than in the main campaign.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Can anyone nudge me to stay with this game?

It hurts because I loved the original for its quirkiness and even ended up snatching all the trophies .

But man was I wrong when I said all I wanted for the sequel was prettier graphics and more environments.

The inaccurate, semi auto aim gravity attacks, coupled with the wonky camera ... I dunno, but I feel like the shifting gameplay mechanic needed an update.

Stopping inches off the ground/wall/ceiling while the camera is doing whatever the hell it wants is not fun as a traversal mechanic. And it just doesn't look fun, if that makes sense...

Add to that the fact most surfaces that are not the ground aren't really built to be explored while walking on them, and the power to shift gravity only works as a means to launch yourself up after wrestling with the camera.

They also really needed to add VA to this, the Sims mumble gibberish was cute for Vita but this is killing the delivery for me, which sucks cause I did give a shit about the story coming off the first.

I don't know why I'm having to force myself to play this game when I was so excited for it. :(

EDIT:

The beginning was so awful. I'm a little fuzzy on how the first ended, but having Kat be a lost girl/vagrant again was a wet fart of a kickoff.

Jirga Para Lao missions have been straight up bullshit so far too.

The story itself hasn't got any traction and the comic dialog boxes are so dull I'm this close to skipping everything and just going for the completion fix.

Sigh

am i the only one who bailed on this game because the made up language became annoying? it didnt really annoy me on GR1 on Vita, but this time around it's become insufferable tbh

What if it used a "real" language you didn't understand? Would it annoy you too? Or is it just for being a made-up language? Does klingon in ST or sindarin in LotR annoy you too?

I mean, I'm not really in the business of trying to convince someone to stick with a game they're clearly not enjoying. I found the game to be both great and charming, despite its flaws. Maybe it'll eventually click with you. Maybe it never will. Hopefully it will, but like, don't be down on yourself if it doesn't lol

Can't relate

Especially as someone who played the first game, so like, I have no reason to suddenly be turned off by the sequel continuing its use of its fake language. Along with the whole comic book panel aesthetic, the fake language is what helps make Gravity Rush... Gravity Rush.

No, i dont mind those other fake languages you mentioned... I'm talking about the made up language specific to Gravity Rush, the fact that it's a made up language is not why it turns me off. I listen to Nier songs all day, and it's incredibly pleasant, but the made up language in GR annoys me.

Stuff like this baffles me.

okay?

The only thing for me I guess is that they kind of half-ass it a little? Like you'll occasionally have moments where Kat says full sentences in said language, but for the majority of the time, they just stick to saying a few words or someone's name.

Maybe you could elaborate a little? What about it is annoying to you? Most of the dialogue is text so I'm not even sure why this is enough to make you stop playing. Based on this, I'm guessing you're not a fan of the vocal tracks Douse Shinundakara and A Cue aun Tu Oi?

like it's not a beautiful or pleasant sounding language. I do like the two songs you mentioned, but just hearing the language verbally in the game's dialogue scenes turns me off because it's just not a pretty language.. (yes not all dialogue is voiced)

I feel like the language like Sindarin sound real because Tolkien studied languages so the language benefitted by sounding real. Emi Evans studied multiple languages so the chaos language she sings for Nier sound incredibly natural because the foundation is real... but yeah Gravity Rush's language, is just offputting, I can't pinpoint it. It never sounds pleasant.

I love the game and I love Kat though, but after a while it wore me down.

Not really .. at some point i was talking like kat " anjuju" when i wanted to say that i was ok with something. and so on.

People i was discussing in my party chat were confused but i had a blast.

The made-up language is great

Love this game you can feel the passion they had making it while playing.

Was a huge fan of the first also.

This game has its flaws but I really really like the characters and world. It's a shame the game play mechanics are sometime bad because that's really the biggest flaw for me (besides the rushed end chapters kii).

I love how female dominate the cast is too. This game has some real special moments in it.

And I probably have an outlier opinion but I think Gravity Rush 2 is better than Nier and Persona 5 (but I haven't beat Persona 5 yet soo we'll see how that goes). I think this game is pretty magical but I think I put other things over game play as a gamer.

I'm also a bad fan and didn't realise the Raven DLC is out.. let me go home and download! Also I'm curious if anyone has sales, I remember reading GR2 kinda flopped :(

Nah I totally agree. GR2 is a lot better than Nier. I love Persona but I think GR2 is better. I think based on the last time dusty tokens were tracked, we can assume sales are around 300k

For me so far it's: Nier >
> Zelda >
GR2 > Persona

Did not expect Persona to at the "bottom" tbh, I liked it well enough at first, but meh

GR2's charm has yet to be beat though
