  1. Calvin Harris - Funk Vol. 1
  2. GoldLink - At What Cost
  3. Joey Bada$$ - ALL AMERIKKKAN BADASS
  4. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
  5. Migos - Culture
  6. Mura Masa - Mura Masa
  7. Sampha - Process
  8. Smino - Blkswn
  9. Syd - Fin
  10. SZA - Ctrl
  11. Tee Grizzley - My Moment
  12. Tyler, the Creator - Flowerboy
  13. Vic Mensa - The Autobiography

Artist order, I can't really decide on a top 5 or anything like that. Top 3 is an easy rotation between Joey Bada$$, Kendrick, and Calvin. Everything else changes up often.

The three big albums that have released so far this year for me are:

Wintersun - Forest Seasons (It's okay, but not nearly as good as the previous two albums. The lead up to this album's release was ridiculous.)

Vintersorg - Till Fjells del II (Pretty good, but I'd like for him to add some variety like Cosmic Genesis through Solens rötter.)

Voyager - Ghost Mile (Absolutely fucking fantastic.)

^That one is ace.

In no order:

Grizzly Bear-Painted Ruins
Perfume Genius- No Shape
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard- Flying Microtonal Banana
Idles- Brutalism
Pond- The Weather

I definitely need to listen to more 2017 music.

I just noticed that I don't have any female singers on my list ( I predominately listen to female vocalists). What are some great female led albums of 2017? I like musicians like Julia Holter, Joanna Newsom, Mitski, Angel Olsen, Laetitia Sadier, Bjork, Diane Cluck, etc.

I'm pretty sure Bjork, St Vincent and Deerhoof will end up on my list after they release their new albums.

Gojira- Magma (2016 but I bought it this year)

Immolation- Atonement

In This Moment- Ritual

Meshuggah- The Violent Sleep of Reason (2016 same as Magma)

Can't think of anything else right now but I know there's more.

Edit

The Riven seems dope AF but I understand that not everyone can do Doom/Stoner/Sludge metal.

The past year has been a let down for albums. Lady Gaga's was a dud. Katy Perry's a dud. Lorde dud. Pretty Reckless dud. Imagine dragons dud. Kesha dud.

So far Ed Sheeran is only album one that's stayed in my rotation for longer than a week.

I think I posted in here a while ago, but it's changed since then. I usually use YouTube, but I realized Spotify's music quality is really good, so all links lead to it.

1. Substantial - The Past Is Always Present in the Future

Caught up on this late and I haven't listened to a lot of rap this year, but this is definitely the best of the bunch. Substantial sounds a lot like Oddisee and while I don't feel from this album he's as good as Oddisee this album consists of better flow, writing, and features compared to Oddisee's The Iceberg from this year.

2. Denai Moore - We Used to Bloom

I think I was on COLORS YouTube channel and saw the thumbnail for this video and decided to listen to her and my gosh is her hair goals, but her music is bomb too. "Does It Get Easier?" gives me chills and the rest of her neo-soul, R&Bish album is stupendous! It's very relaxing and exhilarating at the same time.

The Drums - Abysmal Thoughts

soccer mommy - Collection

Tennis - Yours Conditionally

Heavenly Beat - John

Kelly Lee Owens - Kelly Lee Owens

The Courtneys - The Courtneys II

Ross From Friends - The Outsiders

Molly Burch - Please Be Mine

Helen - 聖域

Bunch more I could list, but these are at the top. Good year so far and there's still a lot to look forward to.

My one disappointment is how much I dislike the new Gorillaz album. One of my favourite bands, but I have no desire to ever hear Humanz again.

Everything in my list save for The Drums, Ross From Friends, Helen and Heavenly Beat is female-only as far as vocals.

Two of my favorite bands had albums come out this year (Broken Social Scene and The New Pornographers) and they were both pretty great, special BSS' Hug of Thunder, that album is filled with amazing tracks.
National's new songs are also amongst their best work

Same story here. I listened to Humanz twice when it was released, and not touched it since.

Best of the year so far has been:

Last Place by Grandaddy
Silver Eye by Goldfrapp
Future Politics by Austra
The West Against The People by Mary Ocher

It's been a disappointing year for bunch of returning artists for me, with as mentioned, Gorillaz, plus Depeche Mode and Arcade Fire being underwhelming as well.

Live Beyond the Spheres by Blind Guardian. Probably my favorite selection of songs off any of their live albums to date. Made it to a couple of the concerts featured so its been great to hear it all again.

Otherwise, Humanz takes it for this year so far.

1. Elder - Reflections of a Floating World
2. Mastodon - Emperor of Sand
3. Big Sean - I Decided
4. Thurston Moore - Rock n Roll Consciousness
5. Wounded Giant - Vae Victis

7. Pallbearer - Heartless
8. Dopelord - Children of the Haze
9. Mothership - High Strangeness
10. King Woman - Created in the Image of Suffering

1. Ryuichi Sakamoto - async.
2. Brockhampton - SATURATION
3. Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
4. Daphni - Fabriclive.93
5. Sampha - Process
6. Charli XCX - Number 1 Angel
7. Kelly Lee Owens - self-titled

3. Lana Del Rey - Lust for Love
4. Lorde - Melodrama

Top two are

The Forest Seasons by Wintersun
The Source by Areon

After that it gets a bit messy.

One More Light by Linkin Park
Bringer of Pain by Battle Beast

are competing for spots three and four. Then it might be

Reclaimer by Shadow of Intent

But Bobaflex are dropping a new album this week that'll fuck everything up because they're <3

2. Reclaimer by Shadow Of Intent
Symphonic Death Metal / Deathcore
Glad I'm not the only one absolutely in love with this album! It's this awesome mix of majestic and brutal-as-fuck

Its been one hell of ride waiting for this masterpiece since the last album was Daisy almost a decade ago. Not just my favorite, but probably one of the most important and favorite pieces of music I have ever listened to. 451 is fucking AMAZING and can't get over it. No low points in the album.

Dead

Avey Tare - Eucalyptus
Fleet Foxes - Crack Up
Brand New - Science Fiction
Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins
Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile to the Surface

Honestly I've been a little underwhelmed by a lot of the albums I've heard this year by bands/artists I like: Haim, Arcade Fire, The XX.
Plus there are a few I need to give more of a listen to or catch up on: The Drums, Broken Social Scene.
Then there are a bunch of albums still to come out: The National, LCD Soundsystem, The Horrors.

Flower Boy deserves more praise.
9/10
