Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

Is Mr Shakedown supposed to be this easy on normal? Because they're making fighting regular fights pointless because I'm swimming in cash. Pretty disappointing if I'm supposed to limit myself and avoid him.

In Hard mode, one hit can mean death if spaced too close since he can follow up a hit with a stomp.

Just wanted to say: FUCK RUSH TRAINING!

The worst was probably Ms. Tatsu's Beast training. Utterly ridiculous. Ended up cheating by throwing boxes against the wall repeatedly. Stupid.

I've often been stomped to death by mistiming his attacks. He's easy enough if you opt to fight him in a large space where you can move around. Using long weapons also helps. My favourite is the spicy knife.

Well yeah, once you read his patterns it's easy.

But it's still "unforgiving" as one slip up leads to imminent death.

Oh sure, and he has killed me a couple of times before. But it's almost always when I'm not paying attention or experimenting.

Yeah, I've been mostly using weapons with Majima. But with Kiryu I just switch to Rush and Square, Square, Triangle him.

My biggest issue is with how much money they drop. And the consequence of losing is nonexistent when you can just reload and quickly find him again.

Any tips on dancing vs. Ogita? I royally suck at this. Dude gets like 6k+ almost every time. Highest I've ever gotten was like 5.3k. Man I don't like this minigame...
Edit: After about 15 tries I've FINALLY beaten him. Thank god. That was annoying. Got a 6k score. Phew, hardest thing in this game yet.
Edit2: Heh, I also just realized he's
Haruka's dance instructor
in Y5. Neat reference.

Is space harrier with the analog stick supposed be annoying as shit or is my controller broken? It keeps returning to the centering of the screen when I let go.

That's how its supposed to be I believe - any recent port of the game I can think of does the same. Back when I played it tons on Shenmue I always used the d pad because I didn't really like the self centering the analogue stick did. Same with Yakuza 0/Kiwami/6 which has the same options (I'm grateful to have the option to use either, unlike some ports that only used the self centering which made it harder for me to play).

Questions for the Cabaret Club Czar masters out there, Are there generally preferred attributes for each platinum hosts? I know you can get three stats to double circle at the cost of taking one stat to X. Is there a preferred stat for a Platinum hostess to take an X in?

Lastly, is there some kind of trick to playing pool? I've spent almost an hour trying to successfully win a game of 9 ball, so I can get a Perfect Lesson.

In Yakuza 6 you only need to get half of that. Speaking of Yakuza 6,is there an import thread where we can discuss the game?

I'm kinda getting there. 70k at the moment with a lot of mistakes made. It's just a matter of time until I'll get it but it's crazy hard. Can't say I mind the challenge though, there's enough easy games out there and Fantasy Zone is pretty damn fun on top of that. It's just been a while since I last sought to earn high scores.

Don't overthink it, dude. 3x double circle on anything and you're good. I 100%ed the business branch without thinking as much about it as you. I also skipped the dates as it offers nothing but faster level ups. Ain't worth the time unless you find the mini games particularly fun.

Haha ok, my favourite bit is in Chapter 14, when
Tachibana takes a hammer to the face, and Kiryu bursts into the room and fights Kuze. I was so pumped!
Same! I was a little disappointed in
Majima having to fight Nishiki
, but I have to train myself to remember that
just because you get into a fight with someone, it doesn't mean you kill them
.

That threw me at the very start of the game, because the whole time it looked to me that Kiryu killed that guy in the Empty Lot (but then, so does every heat move, basically).

Yep, its a video game thing - Nathan Drake can take multiple bullets in game and auto reheal, but can't take on in cut scenes.

When Tachibana got hit, I was still wondering if he was going to make it or not,
because I was just rolling with whatever the game said by that point. I mean Sera got up from a bullet that was suppose to kill him.

Beat the game.

Flatout amazing. I hope the remake of 1 is amazing when it drops in some months. Wow. I'm going to do the side shit now.

If you liked 0 then I find it incredibly unlikely that you WON'T like Kiwami.

God, I can't wait for Kiwami to come out!!

Kiwami is going to be great. But people should remember that its about half the length story wise and only one character (Kaz).

I'm really looking forward to it as well, as I haven't played Yakuza 1 since it first released and don't really remember anything aside from a lot of 'F' words.

Well, completing the training exercises for each hostess completes their substory, which gives you CP. Anyway, I just thought I'd ask. Thanks for the insight!

I'm already a Grade B in the Cabaret Club scene and I haven't even done the rival battle with club mercury yet. I still have club venus and moon to go.

Honestly, I kind of want to not invest in Majima's skill trees at all until I get to the point where I can transfer any amount of the funds I want between him and Kiryu. My Kiryu is currently at
level 100 on the Dragon of Dojima
skill tree and I have over 7 Trillion Yen remaining lol. I can kill a Mr. Shakedown now in 1 heat action, even when he has all 5 to 7 life bars. I can't believe
the DoD style goes up to level 999
! I would love to run around and 1 shot Mr. Shakedown with a single punch of my Rush style lol.

95k next round but sadly hit the boss before getting to 100k. I think I got this. Game's really awesome actually and I don't mind so much.

edit: got it

Figured negative stuff about 0's and the series in general bloat an junk (where the heck was Yumi??????) should get booted away! Now for the things I liked about the game!

Kazuma not being portrayed as a completely unstoppable monster! Even after regular story battle fights he often seemed alil hunched over and needing to catch his breath. The victor for sure but not yet the man!

Being able ta buy what I want, when I want. Skill upgrades aside! Talking stuff like food, weapons, the fanciest gifts, casino tokens... good stuff! Drop a million into a vending machine for a junky item? Not a tear shed over the cash wasted! Every other Yakuza game made me a pennypincher but this one unleashes the buying beast!

...Cats! I tried to make it a point to take a screenshot whenever I found a new cat location in each city!

Much of the story was pretty alright! Was hard ta see where things were going an how each side would connect! It all tied up nicely to!

Best arcade game selection yet? Not knocking the Boxcelios games but I'm quickly growing to like Outrun and Super Hang-On!

Beating dudes up felt as good as it did in 3 & 4! Lotsa fun new heat moves, mostly on Majima's side, always helps. Plus they brought back friendly characters who'll jump into fights with you if you're in the area, and team heat moves!

Yakuza 1s sub stories were pretty hard to trigger/weren't obvious there was much. I remember running around finding people on the streets that wanted an item that I never had. Kiwami's going to be a different game completely.

I'm mid-way through the last chapter, holy fuck I love the story in this game. It's so damn melodramatic, but it has it's hooks in me. No spoilers until I'm done, I'm currently at the point where
Kiryu has just gotten to the deck on the boat with Shinisawa(?) and Majima looks like he's just about to face off with the dude in the purple suit
.

Hope my PS4 doesn't switch off in the meantime, feels like it took ages to get to this point from the last save!

But man, the most satisfying bit so far in the game wasn't even interactive. It was when
Majima came across those guys who he let beat him up earlier, they ask for his wallet and try to bully him, and he just smacks the fuck out of them completely. He'd gone full Super Saiyan and I loved it.

Finally finished. 221:40 it said was my time. I suppose that means 221 hours, 40 minutes?

Fuck.

I'm sure that can't be right. Maybe it's counted time that it's been suspended or idle or something, I dunno. I know I've come back to the game and turned on my TV to find the options screen open and my PS4 not suspended (I thought HDMI link was meant to suspend my PS4 when I suspend my TV?), so if it's been counting that time too then it's a gross overestimation.

But holy shit, that last chapter went on FOREVER.

Ah, so
the clothes he changes into at the end (and Nishiki derides him for) are a callback (or forward) to what he wears later in the series?

And I assume he retains his playfulness/naivety in "future" titles? Because I wouldn't want Kiryu to be more serious :(

Yes to the clothes.

Kiryu is mostly serious though
he's still clowny in substories. And some of the more "tender" friendship moments have him playing the "wiser big brother role".

Though it's not too bad cause Majima is
full on insane
and his supporting cast is usually awesome.

Ha, that happened to me once too, very similar score. XD

I envy your stamina. I saved up 9.99 Trillion Yen on my Legend playthrough, but didn't bother to
upgrade DoD past Level 2, because the upgrade process is so tedious. There should be an option to upgrade everything at once.

94%. Only crap stuff left to do now. Koi-Koi and some card game in the park with the homeless involving Koi Koi cards too, neither of which I got a grasp of, Mahjong, darts, pool, fishing, heat moves and getting gear and weapons.

Man, I've come so far I'll finish this. Learning Japanese Mahjong in the process sounds beneficial anyway.

WOW. Congrats.

Did you 100% it?
Nah, only at 52% or so! I feel like I wanna 100% it though.

I suspect the vast majority of that is idle time, possibly more than half. There's every chance I've had smh hour or so session, then the game has idled for 3 before auto shutting down. Now, what do I need to do to 100% it? Obviously complete all substories and minigamess in the game clear mode, but anything else?

Edit: Oh wait, forgot about all the card games. Fuck that.

Mini games will be part of the CP list you'll need to (completely) complete. That's what will take the most time. Hopefully you've managed to clear most of it just by playing through the game, but stuff like Mahjong are probably still left to do.

Plus if your going for all the trophies you'll have the "delight" of having to clear cat fighting 10 times... (good luck with that!). That and there are some miss-able chapter based trophies, and require you to do a second playthrough on Legend difficulty.

Okay just beat it, incredible game and story

Did the
post credit stuff spoil much,
like 1995 incident?

Where do I go from here, wait for yakuza 1 rerelease in august?

All spoilers you got are like the first 20 minutes of Yakuza 1.

Yes you now wait for Yakuza: Kiwami which is a remake of Yakuza 1.

Unless you have a PS3 you wait for Kiwami. Otherwise if you haven't played another Yakuza game, Yakuza 4 and 5 are well worth getting.

I do have a PS3 but is waiting to see how Kiwami plays out a better idea? And then perhaps summary videos for 2/3?

Waiting for Kiwami right now is the best idea if only because all the games in the series are pretty similiar and all of them prominently feature Kamurocho, so playing Yakuza games back to back is a bad idea and you'd likely burn out fast. Better to wait a couple of months inbetween each. Whatever you do afterwards is up to you. Just a heads up, 3 is on the PS3 as well, so if you plan to make it through the entire series, 2 is the only summary you'd have to watch.
