Die Hard 5: “A Good Day to Die Hard”

Fuck the haters of Die Hard 4, as if it were some atrocity compared to the other sequels. The original was the best by far, and the rest are solid action films on equal ground with their own positives and negatives:

Die Hard 2:
+ Film retained the most of the "closed in" feel of the original, in an airport.
- Enemies were stupid, the "twist" was stupid, most action scenes were meh

Die Hard 3:
+ Most interesting premise, side character (Samuel L), and main villain of all the sequels
- The end of the movie fizzled out worse than any of the series, building up to a showdown with the bad guy, only to be stopped, with the stupidest plot twist on how the main villain was caught

Die Hard 4:
+ Best pacing of all the sequels that built up to a point, good action sequences
- Some action scenes were totally ridiculous, the acts of the villain were pretty silly (as if they weren't before), PG-13 in theaters

I rate them all equal in my book. The original is the best action movie ever, and the sequels are surprisingly good compared to other action franchise sequels (Lethal Weapon's are worse.) I'm always down for some John McClane no matter what.

If I were to do this movies casting, I'd cast a future action star. Someone that could out badass John mclane.

If I were to write this id make it so that mcclane needs the kids help instead of backwards.
Taylor Lautner

I think the best suggestion I've seen in this thread is Chris Pine.

But I just thought of one: Jensen Ackles. Just because I can easily see some great banter between him and Bruce Willis.

Also for the people saying Michael Cera, Shia Laboof, and Michael Eisenberg, we got the scrawny nerdy type in the last movie, so I don't think they're gonna go that route again.

Die Hard 6 with a female lead? YES.

None of the sequels have been worthy of the original, but there hasn't been one yet that I didn't enjoy. So, hey, let's do it! Also, did an R-rated version of Die Hard 4 ever come out on Blu-ray? I still can't believe they screwed up that release the way they did.

No R-rated version, but there was an unrated version. A few more "fucks" and CGI blood edited in.

Get Sam Lake!

On Blu-ray? It hit DVD, but I can't find any proof of a fixed Blu-ray version ever coming out.

Oh, I was told that version was available on Blu-Ray too. Sorry, I had only seen the film in theaters.

Deep down, you know it be true.

I had to complete the GAF cycle... sorry.

Stop the world so I can get off if they pick either Shia LaBeouf or Taylor Lautner...

But he looks like an Ewok.

And I think the movie's title sounds like a slogan for Viagra.

Man, they need to just...stop. Not that I thought Die Hard 4 was bad, but at this point Die Hard is done for me. This is too much

The search for John McClane's son is down to 4. Liam Hemsworth(Hunger Games), Aaron Paul(Breaking Bad), James Badge Dale(The Pacific) and DJ Cotrona(GI Joe 2)

And make the bad guys a gang of children, all of whom he has to shoot at various points in the movie.
Holy shit.

Aaron Paul is 32. Way too old to be McClane's kid, no?

...well I guess he's got a young face

With Liam Hemsworth in The Expendables 2, alongside Bruce Willis, I'd put 5 bucks on him being the frontrunner, maybe with a word in from Brucey himself.

aaron paul should be getting good film roles. Bryan Cranston's getting the cream of the crop and Jesse gets shit like this....bitch.

He should be in his late 20's, somewhere around 27 since the character was 5-ish in 1989. So Aaron Paul wouldn't really be too off.
That's true. I think he plays a 26 year old in BB anyway.

what a joke. Only Aaron Paul actually LOOKS like a 20 year old. Considering that the kids were small in Die Hard 1 (1988), the others are automatically too old. At least with these pictures anyway. Also, rebellious son is standard Hollywood trope material, so that pretty settles it in my mind anyway.

Why do we think that's how old he's supposed to be?

I hate using it but LOL.

John either has a son that looks like his age in the first movie, a son that looks like the Mac guy from 4, or the two on the left who don't even look like they could be in action.

[*]The sequel will be released on February 14th, 2013 (Presidents Day weekend), the day before Valentine’s Day.
This quote makes no sense. February 14th IS Valentine's Day, and neither the 13th nor the 14th fall on a weekend in 2013.

However, if the actual release date is February 13th, that is awesome, because it is my birthday, and I know exactly what I'll be doing.

I don't know where you got the idea that these guys should look 20. A 20 year-old would have to be born in 1991 -- 3 years after the originals release.

The actress that played Lucy in Die Hard is 30, FYI.

James Badge Dale is 31, Aaron Paul is 32, DJ Contra is 31, and drumroll.... Liam Hemsworth is 21.

For a 2013 release, all of these guys could be made to look around 30 -- which they are! Bruce Willis is 56 FFS. Get over it.

It's crazy, but when I first saw the topic a few weeks ago, my first thought was Aaron Paul (after just seeing the Breaking Bad Finale).

He'd be a good choice for Jr.

Would also fit that sort of "short in stature" that McClain had going for him.

Aaron Paul is one amazing actor and he's great in Breaking Bad, he should get it. Although that would make me kind of biased since I don't know any of the other actors. Aaron really is a great actor though.

I thoroughly enjoyed LFoDH. In fact, I've thoroughly enjoyed them all EXCEPT for the bloodiest and most violent: Die Hard 2. It's not just the worst, it was the most self referential. Yeah, that stuff can be quite annoying when it thinks it's clever.

Anyway, I'm fine with PG-13. It sure didn't hold back the entertainment value of the last one, just f-bombs and tons of blood. Considering how it turned out and the money it made, that's a fair trade off IMO.

Also I dig the title a lot. A Good Day to Die Hard. Nice.
