I have a newer slim (infamous 2 bundle) and the drive in it makes a ton of noise while seeking. I have a two year old standalone Sony BD player and it's worlds quieter. Makes me sad.

PS3 slim doesn't have a PS logo that rotates. I know that because I was trying 10minutes on mine
Its the plastic expanding because of temperature changes. It also happens after you turn it off for the same reason, its cooling down.

A 2nd or 3rd generation PS3Slim is very silent. My 1stGen Slim cracks and gets loud after 30 minutes too, thats when the fan kicks in.

Dunno, can't hear my CECHL fat PS3 at all, whereas my 360 Slim is really loud in comparison even more so when spinning a disk which thankfully is rare as I install games on the HDD.

All it caused was months of arguing on gaf with people trying to claim it was an 'obvious' fake.
Indeed, you could tell how much effort Sony were putting into cutting down costs when we lost the ability to turn to logo.

My 360 from 2006 sounds like a helicopter taking off in my room. In my small bedroom, it actually affects my television volume.
My PS3 is pretty damn quiet in comparison.

Well they are already selling stands for the current slim. If it gets any thinner on this revision it might very well be mandatory to use one.

If the PS3.5 has upgraded hardware it will have to emulate the older PS3 hardware even if it contains a Cell processor or 1 PPU and enough SPUs to run PS3 software.

I think it had the power supply exposed. If there's any connection worth talking about, it's that this new slimmer PS3 might have an external power supply. Whatever it is, I just hope it's as cheap as possible. A paper thin $150 PS3 like what they did with PS2 would be pretty incredible.

My metal gear 80 gig bc phat is starting to feel the burn... The fan turns on almost instantly now and when it isn't on it just started making a sort of loan whining noise, I fear it isn't long for this world... Any idea when this is coming out?
