FRIENDLY COMMENT.

I thought the Wii U couldn't handle CryEngine 3? im confused now.. does that mean the Wii U is a capable machine then?

It can. It always could and that was confirmed form the start. It should be able to handle Unreal Engine 4 as well I believe but that Epic said they wouldn't support it (tech support wise I believe) but someone could use it if they wished. Ubisoft's latest engine runs on the system as well as seen by Assassin's Creed 3 and 4 and that Watch_Dogs was/s going to be released. It's only EA that has been saying that it couldn't run Frostbite 3 and had trouble with Frostbite 2. So if all those engines run well or are capable of running on the Wii U then the issue likely isn't the Wii U's capability when it comes to EA's engines. Engines they have running on the PS3/360 after all.

Should be labeled as "Cryengine" unless they are purposefully using an older version.

Also, wow, that trailer was just wtf.

Here's a sneak peak of the Television Show (plus Eggman):

I thought it was pretty cute. :0

Ok, that looks really good. Especially for a 3D cartoon. It made me laugh as well. Will definitely look forward to it.

It's a not-terrible Johnny Test. Just as I expected.

You were expecting it to be Johnny Test tier? That's the lowest of the low of expectations for a cartoon. That's The Problem Solverz/Mountain Fort Awesome level of low.

Had to let it play through a couple times for the quality to increase, but I got these:

Little better quality shots I guess.

It's odd, Eggman's look may be the most redesigned of them all, and I kind of like it for that.

Judging by the other shots, that's just how long his legs are now.

I meant the stretchy torso.

It's clear the game models aren't up to par with the TV show designs. That top quill on Sonic's head looks okay on the show, but awful in the game, for example.

Dr. Eggman isn't his name

Eggman is what they say to taunt Dr. Robotnik, not "Egghead"

FUCK

Oh god get over it. He's been "Eggman" in Japan forever, and "Eggman" since 1999-2000 almost everywhere else. He's been Eggman longer than he's been "Dr. Robotnik", and they STILL count it as his full name, and they STILL make references to it. LET. IT. GO.

Here's a Facebook comment from SEGA:

Sonic Boom is a new branch of the Sonic universe, and does not replace modern Sonic.

The Sonic Boom character designs won't replace the "normal" ones. We won't see them in the mainline Sonic games.

"Series executive producer Evan Pailey described episodes of the show where an overprotective Sonic fires Tails from sidekick and Eggman applies, Eggman tries to get into Modern Lair Magazine and, after losing again to Sonic for the umpteenth time, the archvillain fakes an injury and takes Sonic to court. The new co-operative play mechanics in the games and show will also be seen in the toys"

Guys. The TV series sounds pretty good..

Well, SEGA seems to have taken care of number three in their deal with Nintendo.
I do not judge from a trailer like this.

Yeah. Everybody rushing to judgement.

Doesn't exactly look great, but hard to be so sure it'll be terrible based on a teaser like this.

They didn't call him Robotnik. They didn't call him Robotnik.

I like how Sonic looks. The TV trailer was alright.

Ummm...not sure really what to think here. They all look too gangly to be honest, the tape thing is a wee bit overdone. Not a fan of Knuckles' new look, his head is a bit too small for the rest of his body. The environments look real pretty though...I guess I'll take a wait and see approach.

I won't believe that one 'till I see the next Sonic game.

They probably are saying because they are already aware of all the racket going on with the new designs.

Early Johnny Test was decent, I was basically expecting a better version of that, specifically in regards to character interactions.

So not all of my nightmares are coming true.

Welp, here we are guys, a bona fide Werehog game. No, even better, a Jak and Daxter game dressed in drag! Here's the kicker: a Skylanders-like using CE3 that for shitty in-dev textures! I can't—

Even if this is competently made at all, it's still a boring concept for a game, and it doesn't stick close to what makes Sonic distinct from other platformers. Watch, this game's gonna have every other game idea BRB and Sanzaru want to do yet can't so they convince SEGA to let them hide it all within some stupid Loonatics fudge. And I can and will criticize Sonic Team for doing that ever since Sonic Adventure, but Lost World looks spare compared to this, and for good reasons. And forget whatever positives I noted about the redesigns, they look like amateur-level Disney-squash-and-stretch jank in motion, and excellent animation would have saved these new concepts.

At least the show looks good. But I'm more disappointed that it's focusing on self-parody as a get-out-of-jail card, as if these guys feel they have to apologize for the shit SEGA sees in an Activision train that's already left.

Might be good, might be completely awful. I think this reveal is way more interesting than another game of the same mixed 2D and 3D formula would have been.

Sad about it being Nintendo exclusive though, especially considering it runs on Cry Engine 3. Would much rather play on PC.
