Maxim? Pfft. you don't even have to be 18 to buy that almost-nude mag.

Harkleroad is in Playboy. You got to be 18 to get that mag. The bar is still at Playboy.

Now the only way to raise the bar is Penthouse or Hustler.

And when a tennis star does Penthouse or Hustler, the only way the bar could be raised again would be video porn.

It may take some time, but I can wait.

Fantastic win for Roger and Wawrinka. I am really happy for both. Warwinka played a great match and both came up with great shots when it counted. It is awesome to finally see Federer happy like that.

Gold :D

I think the Swedish strategy was "hit the ball to Warwinka" because he managed to fuck up a lot. But they really deserved it. Seemed like a no pressure deal since they were out there having fun.

And now, the "Big Three" have a medal of some sort now.

So what are Nadal chances to keep No.1 rank until the end of the year ?

Federer can pass No.3 if he loses in the U.S Open Semi and if Djoko wins the tournament, so huge pressure on Federer! Nadal did QF last year, he can earn more points.

I'd say it will be a great fight between Nadal and Djoko for the first place!

The big ones are done for the year, but the season ain't over. THEORETICALLY Federer can reclaim his #1 spot this year, but it won't happen. Miniscule mathematical possibilities. Still exciting to see who plays what and who takes it easy the rest of the year.

On the WTA Tour this month:

Toray Pan Pacific Open (More or less ALL the top female players)
Tokyo, Japan, Sep. 16-Sep. 21, Tier I

Guangzhou International Women's Open
Guangzhou, China, Sep. 15-Sep. 21, Tier III

China Open (Jankovic, Ivanovic,
Beijing, China, Sep. 24-Sep.28, Tier II

Hansol Korea Open
Seoul, South Korea, Sep. 22-Sep. 28, Tier IV

ATP:

Thailand Open (Safin, Djokovic)
Bangkok, Thailand September 22-28

China Open (Ferrer, Roddick, Gasquet, Robrero
Beijing, China September 22-28

If you mean you were excited by the situational aspects, it could happen next year as well. If not, you certainly will see something that awesome again, as that was FAR, FAR, FAR from the best tennis ever played. The situational aspects were all that made that match special. Otherwise it was just: Fed playing poorer than usual, Fed choking on many points, and Nadal failing to close it out.

I've read that Federer next will enter the Stockholm tournament followed by (in no particular order) Basel, the Madrid and Paris Masters and the year end Masters Cup. If so, isn't it too much? I mean, we're talking 5 tournaments in 7 weeks time or something.

Davis Cup:

Spain leads the U.S 2-0

Nadal defeated Querry 6-7(5) 6-4 6-3 6-4

and Ferrer outlasted Roddick 7-6(5) 2-6 1-6 6-4 8-6 :O on clay. Poor Roddick

But the sad part is that combined, both players came to the net 11 times.

What is even worse for Roddick is that he won 153 points, and Ferrer won 140 points :lol

Why is that sad? This is, well, clay. Really fast clay admittedly, because of the altitude, but still clay. The points thing though, yeah that is sad.

On the other half of the semifinals, Juan Martin del Potro is up a set, but I think Davydenko just broke back in the second so it might not be as one-sided as it appeared a minute ago.

Del Potro was really raping Davydenko. I fell asleep during the match at one point (I was kinda already tired). He's really living up to the hype. I saw most of the Nalbandian-Andreev match, too. Nalbandian was pretty solid but made way too many unforced errors in the first set. He missed the easiest of shots. But fortunately for him, most came when he wasn't serving.

Murray one set up against Melzer. I think people misunderstood Murray's half-assed presence at the olympics - he just wanted to go to the US Open, it wasn't a case of 'not caring about GB'. Both games he's played here have been great (so far).

Did anyone see that shot he made a short while ago, where he ran off the court after the ball, reached out, got the racket to the ball, and actually ROLLED along the grass sideways, before getting himself back up, back into the court, and getting the ball back again... for a winner. Amazing.

Isn't GB already out of the running though? Thanks to Bogdanovic and their failure in doubles? GB has no real depth.

Davydenko up two sets to one against Nalbandian. I thought Argentina was a forgone conclusion as finalist but maybe not. I suppose if need be JMDP can always just crush Andreev though.

Edit: Yup, Davydenko took the fourth set 6-0. JMDP better be able to deliver or Argentina is out of this final.

We already lost to Argentina at the beginning of the year, this was to get back into the Elite 16 or whatever it's called, we could have pulled it back in the reverse singles, if "Mr I have never won on grass" wasn't our number 2, at least he won his first ever two sets on grass this weekend. :lol

All hype in Britain succeeding in Tennis lies squarely on Murray, I hate the bastard personally, but it's a sad state of affairs, when our number 1 is number 4 in the world, and our number 2 is 160+ in the world such a vast quality gap it's shameful.

They weren't when I wrote that post, but I never expected us to get through anyway. I wonder what Murray will do now with regards to the Davis Cup - is there really any point in bothering? He can't be expected to be the entire team.

Well if his brother had won in doubles, which was at least possible, they could have gone to the next round, so the Murrays could carry the entire team. If it weren't for that then yeah, it wouldn't really be worth his playing.

Edit: Del Potro has the early lead. Somehow this is my first time watching him. He's good, very solid and consistent from the baseline.

Double Edit: Del Potro wins. 6-4, 6-2, 6-1. Nice of him to halve the number of Andreev's games each time.

In recognition of the imminent Tsonga-Djokovic rematch, I decided to watch some Tsonga vs. Nadal footage. He's incredibly powerful, probably the only man I've seen make Nadal look small on-court. But despite his size, he moves really well. Maybe it was thanks to the surface, but Nadal's topspin didn't seem to have an effect on him--it almost looks like he's holding back when he hits the forehand, lightly tapping the ball into position, even though it's a huge shot. And the Tsonga dropshot? A thing of pure beauty. They were just so perfectly placed, bouncing so low and backspinning into the net. I don't understand why he's not in the top five, honestly--he should be. Is it because he gets injured so frequently, or does he not have the mental strength to finish long matches? Because his game is definitely there.

Watch these highlights of his Australian Open semifinal match vs. Nadal. Nadal isn't playing badly--maybe a bit defensively--but Tsonga is owning him left and right. Not just because this is a highlight reel, either, it was a pretty devastating scoreline.

The match is at 4:00 AM EST, incidentally, so you might be out of luck re: watching more tournaments.
