AAA Single player experienced are becoming obsolete, slowly but surely. Just look at The Evil Within 2's sales, people may be concerned that boycotting Naughty Dog will not only hurt the good employees who work their and make these amazing games (and who have nothing to do with this incident if true), but that low sales could lead ND in a different direction or negatively effect the production or development of ND games and the studio itself.

not our problem, as consumers

The amount of people who are actually going to boycott ND as a result of this is probably tiny. Infinitesimal compared to how much their games usually sell. It's really not worth being concerned over.

Dude you sound overly paranoic, the failure of Bethesda's marketing practices and retail software doesn't have anything to do with a sexual harassment report from an employee at Naughty Dog.

The whole situation is sad, regardless of if Ballard was sexually harassed or not. The stress of crunch is something that really hurts the industry. It makes situations like this more complicated because everyone is so stressed and tension filled that even if blatant sexual harrassment is happening many may not even see it because they are worked to the bone. Or perhaps a slighty comment might be taken the wrong way because of that stress and blow up way out of proportion. Ballard could clearly use some therapy from the stress he's clearly been suffering from for years, and if his allegations are true the added stress of being a victim of sexual harrasment.

Boycotting sony or ND over this is extreme, same as calling Ballard a liar. I don't get the impression either company has a history of enabling sexual harrasment, and I don't think Ballard should be blamed for blowing up the way he did.

The harassment situation aside, I doubt people threatening boycotts are going to sink naughty dog. Just like Nintendo didn’t go under when people were threatening to boycott them over that one situation from last year. Even still, it should be the least of anyone’s concerns in relation to what’s going on.

You make it sound like gaming is a charity, it's not. It's a business and it should be treated as such.

The thing with any harassment in the corporate environment is the difficulty, yet immense importance of reporting it. If you don’t give someone at least one level up, details of the incident, you essentially have no record or path to action. If you do and they then ignore it, you have a case and evidence to use. Many harassment policies are very detailed in this way, so when they do fire you, you have a means to back up the claims. ND isn’t lying by saying “no evidence”, they never received a complaint to follow up on.
